    VIDEO DESCRIPTION:
    Doris came across an opportunity to transform some feral land and turn it into an off grid paradise. While she doesnt live in this tiny house, it provides for her farm financially. I absolutely loved the side wall design and think it could be implemented in many small home plans.

      I recognized the design as your design from the thumbnail!!!! You should have been mentioned in the video!!!! I'm still trying to figure how with all the "recycling" she mentioned that it took $12,000 to achieve this in materials alone!!!!!

    • @relaxshacksDOTcom
      @relaxshacksDOTcom 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@cindyboard7816 I think she probably paid higher dollar for whatever salvaged materials she used (bought salvage as opposed to finding it free- which is fine- just far more expensive). The plexi use would add cost alone- among other things- but the labor cost did seem a bit extreme- I've flown out on my dime and built these (labor) for people, including all materials and paint work too, for well under half what she paid. Regardless it came out great and its styled beautifully so I'm sure it'll do well as a rental. Yeah, a plug would have been nice- but I've gotten used to not being credited- it happens. I'm sure they meant no ill will. Would love to visit this place sometime- again, they did a fantastic job- she/they should be proud and I hope it serves her well.

    I love it that your channel offers the opportunity for people to see what it would be like staying in a place like this to see if it’s something they would even be interested in doing or could do🎉🎈I think your suggestion about volunteering at a farm or Homestead is a wonderful idea💕it lets people be able to see it’s hard work and it doesn’t matter what you feel like 🎈the animals are there and dependent on you 🎈it’s a very big responsibility but is vey rewarding 💕🎈

Fully self sustained. Probably no debt! Not sure what you are talking about? lol. • @lillululuna
      @lillululuna 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I wouldn’t define her as strong and independent especially considering she was given over 300 acres of property. She is another rich kid of California using her parents resources as her own. This is the same as Trump’s “ small loan of a million dollars” he was given to start his business. The only difference I see is that instead of cash it is an impossibly large property that increases in value every year. California is one of the most expensive places on the planet to live and she was simply given 300 acres of it to do whatever she wants.

    • @mamamia1906
      @mamamia1906 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lillululuna You may feel that way but I disagree. You can give any trust fund baby money and they can blow it on drugs and a whatever else leads these rich kids do to act out. I say she is strong and independent because throw a girly girl in that same scenario and they be like ooh my hair...my nails...I'm going to get dirty. Who cares if her parents gave her acres it's what she did with it that matters. Don't ever compare any woman to Trump ever in your life. Trump is a child not a man. Who acts out like a toddler who does not get his way. I have worked in daycare with children who act more well behaved than Trump.

I've already got solar gas stove w oven toilet sink tankless water heater I have apt.size furniture already. It's just not finished yet. That's a crazy price for barely a bed. It's cute and as long as it's making you income you ok I guess but if I paid that per room. No. I'd stayed in my full size home just swapped electric for solar to help w power bill. • @ZeoCyberG
      @ZeoCyberG 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, not when comparing anything equivalent... All houses can be built from very basic to very high end and that means they can all cost from very little to extremely expensive. Even RV's can go all the way up to over $3 million for a reality check on just how high anything can go.
      While going commercial doesn't mean they have to be more costly. Most of the time it means the opposite because commercially built tends to mean a move towards mass production and a greater pooling of resources, which is the cheapest way anything can be built, as it allows the cost per unit sold to drop to a fraction of what it would otherwise cost to build them one at a time. Cheaper even than you can DIY build...
      Like you can buy complete furniture from Ikea for less money than just the materials would cost a custom furniture maker...
      It's more a problem of the regulations and bureaucracy getting in the way, which is a separate issue and has more to do with government than the commercial sector. Along with how our society is now so focused on liability concerns. Most commercial builders can't even operate without proper insurance and medical coverage, and the building codes, etc are mainly a way to mitigate liability and is why it's so hard to do anything different because different will re-introduce liability concerns...
      Along with people's perceptions on what minimal standards they will find acceptable as that's the main reason we keep seeing higher end houses that cost more but they can all be built a lot cheaper... But this is usually compounded with NIMBY'ism, as people who don't accept deviation from the perceived norms will outright sue you to prevent you from doing so and more often it's the neighbors that prevent people from tiny living...

    Our goats always wanted to eat what was outside the fence and would get their horns stuck in the woven wire. one day I was tired of having to walk the fence. I got a bucket of cracked corn and all the goats gathered around wanting some. I poured the corn into an old hubcap and they figured it out. The ones that don't lightly thump their nose and they get out fast...if a goat chews on a fruit tree its saliva can kill a tree. The goat first destroys the plant by pawing and ingesting the flower, stem, and leaves of the plant. An enzyme in the goat's saliva then kills the plant's seed to prevent future re-seeding. Goats have a reputation for being willing to eat anything.

A third world country where a home like this would be a luxury for some. Not that there are not any wealthy homes or communities in Africa. There are many but you have to be wealthy to live in those homes and many Africans go to work daily and never get paid. Please humble yourselves people. So this tiny living situation is not your thing. To each is own. What is one mans trash is another mans gold. Every tiny home and style and every big home is the same layout. Wow to pay 12,000.00 for that, not a good spend of money at all. Why on earth did you pay $7500.00 for labor on 80 square feet, that’s just wrong

    Forest management classes you have your own ecosystem to promote a perfect land management program
    I would talk to a wildlife conservatory about management plan options this comes from a simple farmer with no formal education not a ecologist with a degree

    Very expensive for such a small space. IMPORTANT SAFETY concern, replace that winch with a Worm-gear winch so someone doesn’t get killed in your giant mousetrap. Looks cool though.

    No offense, but bay area people have taken over this area for so long driving up prices of everything and driving true locals out, unless they invested in land years ago making them rich now. A true fair price would be 700 a month for living in a shed.

    Well looks like you got a lot of property and if you're renting that tiny cabin out why don't you go get rescue some horses from the kill pens and that then you could like rent those out you know for like people that want to explore more and can't get to it on in a car that's very smart

    The area is so vast and wide, but why build a very teeny-weeny-teepee A-frame tiny house and then make the wall open up by elevating it? It’s not even automatic. I cannot see the logic in it. What is the purpose after all? Everyone can see that this is only a small room.
    As for airbnb or glamping I would not dream of staying in one. I do not want to walk some steps nor run to the outhouse when it should have been inside the house. I am in a remote forest so I would prefer the kitchen also to be inside the house. It’s already off grid, why should I suffer with the basic comfort? Amenities should be a must even if I want to commune with nature.
