    I bought this tent in 2019 and it is now my most used tent. I can easily set it up by myself in about 10 minutes.

    Nice review! I agree, well made. But I bought one, liked a lot about it, but returned. I was looking for more mesh, like full mesh in the doors. I'm now thinking of the TNF Wawona 6..

    • @MKandTJ
      @MKandTJ  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I was surprised by the lack of mesh. I’m thankful during the cold months but I like to see out too! Lol

    Thanks so much. I just joined a tent camping group (I’ve had a camper for 20 years). I’m in the market to buy a tent. It sounds like you give this one 2 thumbs up. I will be alone most days. Is this one a good choice?

    • @MKandTJ
      @MKandTJ  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We think this one is a great choice! For one person, it might be a tad big, I think they make a 2 or 3 person Basecamp that’s the same thing but smaller and that might be a good choice. But it’s a great tent! 😃

    • @lorivezina7913
      @lorivezina7913 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you, I have reservations about a smaller tent as they are always shorter and hard to get dressed in. (As you mentioned)

      @@MKandTJ No, I was just kidding. The opening on that vid was extremely creative and super hilarious! I just had to comment. I actually found your channel while searching for reviews on the Basecamp 6. I’m hoping both models are built the same way, just a different size. Your video helped me decide on the Basecamp for sure. REI should hire you guys, your vid was way better than theirs…. Keep up the good work and safe travels..

    Thank you for the review. After much research, my only concern is the material of the tent. I have read several comments that the material is not “great” or “ Mediocre.” What do you all think of the material of this tent? It

      @@MKandTJ Thank you, @MK and TJ, for replying to my comment. I ended up getting the REI Cop-op Base camp 4. I have two camping trips coming up. I can’t wait to use it!
      Do you recommend keeping the rain fly on the tent during a hot, humid day? I am from Texas, and it gets hot out here.

    If you were to take the rainfly off, can you easily see the stars through the mesh at the top? Or would the tents with the complete mesh interior be better in your opinion?

    • @MKandTJ
      @MKandTJ  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Excellent question! If we took the fly off we would be able to see the stars. However, because this tent is technically a 4-season, there is less mesh than what you might want for sleeping with the fly off. Your field of view is basically the sky only rather than the sky and your surroundings. Hope that helps :)

      @MKandTJ  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@charityanderson8327 Still going strong! We wish we would have purchases the footer for it because messing with tarps is annoying. No zipper issues. We did burn some tiny holes in it the size of a pen tip because some runaway ashes from our campfire landed on it. (Or at least we are pretty sure that is what happened.) When it gets warmer outside we will most-likely have to tape these to keep micro-insects out of the tent. I would call this user error though 🙃

    Hi guys, nice review! I’ve been considering the basecamp 6 for family car camping. One thing that I’ve read that concerns me is that it gets toasty in warmer weather because it has less mesh that some other tents in the same tier. Do you have any experience with this tent in warmer conditions? If so, any trouble staying comfortable?
    Thanks!

    • @MKandTJ
      @MKandTJ  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      We’ve camped in it in 85F with high humidity and it wasn’t exactly “comfortable” but we kept the rain fly on which trapped the humidity in. In comparison to other tents the head mesh is not as big but it makes up for it with the massive door vents and the side vents. We’ve never lost any sleep because we were too hot however there are only two of us. Once you add people, the heat goes up! Our advice would be to pick a nice shady spot out if possible and try to sleep with the fly pulled back. :) great question, thank you for asking and thank you for watching our video!
