    Hey y'all! We are so excited to add this grill to our outdoor cooking gear! Since we filmed this, we've used our new Davy Crockett to cook chicken, pork, beef (even a small brisket!) and vegetables, and it's working out great so far! We're sure you'll be seeing it in future cooking videos! It's been easy to move, setup, use and clean. And the wi-fi has worked great even when we have been camping in places with very little signal. We really like it, and have added it to our Amazon storefront: amzn.to/35uhfSF .

      Thank you so much for making/posting this video. I've been wondering if any RVer uses a smoker on the road. I would like to see some follow-up videos of how it is packing/storing along with the smoke affecting neighbors if at all.

      @@patriot1902 I am very happy with it. The customer service team for gmg is outstanding. It is an efficient smoker. If I had to complain it would only be that it is heavey. (63lbs) but not the end of the world.

      @@patriot1902 the built in handles help. You can set it up yourself somewhat a chor but doable. I have mine on top of a harbor freight tool chest. (A tip I got from many owners from youtube) you can wheel it around with ease if need be. That's the only drawback is the weight. Cheers!

    I have used this smoker for 3+ years. It is a great addition to your rig. Excellent size - you can smoke a lot of meat and yet it still fits in our bays. I carry a regular grill as well, as this does take a bit to get to temp, but I have a 40' coach and the room for 2 grills. You will be the envy of the campground. I smoked chicken for the 4th, and had a half a dozen people stop by and chat about this smoker - including the campground owner. One thing that may help is to line the drip bucket and the plates under the grates with tin foil. Helps big time with clean-up. Enjoy!

      @rvamericayall  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Awesome! Glad to hear your experience with the Davy Crockett. We still have our little charcoal grill also and a single burner propane cooker. We may offload one of those ar some point. We’ll see. We bet the chicken turned out great! Thanks for the tip on the foil. We forgot to show that we did wrap the drip pan with foil and it definitely makes cleanup easy. Happy smoking!

      Hows it work on steaks? We almost always make steaks and burgers on our R.V. trips. Im sure it rocks as a smoker but not sure how the indirect heat would work on something normal cooked hot and fast?

    one thing I've found if you take a empty veggie can and put it into the bucket, you will save time and cleaning chore too. then when can is full you just throw it into the trash. if you use foil on the large drip shield it will also save your shield

    Glad to see you invested in a pellet smoker. You will not be disappointed with the cooking. I have a big Traeger at the house. Best smoker I’ve ever had.
    Suggestions:
    1) Use HD aluminum foil to line your drip tray. It will make clean up so much easier.
    2) Buy more drip buckets off Amazon. You will need them.
    3) After you finish cooking and the unit cools, cover and store out of the weather. If you still have pellets in the hopper and feed tube, they will very quickly absorb moisture and dissolve. Leaving a wood paste which will dry out and become like concrete in the feed tube. Pain in the ass to clean.
    4) Last but not least. The mfgr’s call these a grill. They are NOT!! They are smokers. Cook your everyday burgers and chicken breasts over lump charcoal. These are made for low and slow cooking.
    Welcome to the world of pellet smokers. Be advised, you will suddenly have friends in every campground you visit. Might become expensive for you.
    Tennessee Pal. (Master Outdoor Chef)

    Never owned a pellet grill ; but the versatility of this small & yet travel size / portability grill is a perfect size for camping on the go.. I think I would consider in getting one like this as my 1st pellet smoker instead getting a larger 1... I could keep this inside my home .. I also like the fact that u can either use it / setup on the legs / carry handle or just set it on the picnic table & have it rest on the small feet/legs that's provided...AWESOME cook.. I'll be checking out more of your videos & the different ways of cooking on the compact GMG DAVY CROCKETT ( DC )... 👍👍

    Great little smoker. I use the heck out of mine. But be aware it may run about 40-60 degree higher than the internal therm says. I run a separate girll therm to keep track. Makes a huge difference when smoking for 10-14 hrs. But I love everything else about it.

    I looked at the Traeger Ranger Pellet Grill last year and ruled it out because of the weight. To me, adding nearly 60 lbs to the RV just to have a smoker was not worth it. I cook over a campfire a lot anyway. No power source needed for that. I think my son-in-law would love it for tailgating.

    We have a large Green Mountain. Just a word of caution. Don't let the rain get to it, it makes the pellets get sticky and they gum up. Then you have to clean out the whole shebang to get it going again. The auger carrying the wood pellets into the cooker area even can get stuck. Otherwise, it's a great cooking machine.

    Wow, I’m SOLD. I have wanted to take my smoker to the mountains for years but I needed a trailer to haul it on. Mixing smoking and camping is a “Win-Win” experience. We are looking forward to Tom smoking the Pork Butt/Shoulder video. Thank you Tom and Stacie for the work you put in to these videos. Have two questions: 1) where can you buy the pellets; & 2). Is there a way to secure the smoker so that it is harder for someone to walk away with it? Bob & Linda

    • @rvamericayall
      @rvamericayall  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Bob & Linda! We are loving this little smoker! Here's the Amazon link for the smoker: amzn.to/2G2OyiU . You can also get the pellets on Amazon through the Green Mountain Grills store: amzn.to/2JmAFya . We secure ours to the picnic table by running a heavy duty bicycle lock between the table and the handle that is on the side that holds the pellets. The handle would be really tough for someone to remove, so we feel like it is very secure.

    • @bobcausey
      @bobcausey 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      RV Texas Y'all Thank You. Linda just ordered the smoker through your link. I had a third question that I forgot to ask earlier. Does the smoker get hot on the underside? the dollar store round "tupperware" containers fit nice in the drip bucket, easy clean up. Also if you can find that clear tubing with the webbing built in, (That was the type I found that was the correct diameter) by the foot from Ace Hardware, (home Depot and Lowes never had the right stuff), Buy a foot and cut it into four 3" pieces, and slide over the legs, and put at the bottom corners so if you set it on legs on cement or rocks, it won't scratch through the chrome and start rusting. Put the pieces in hot water to soften and they will slide right on. Getting it on and off the legs is easy for one person, once you get your technique down :-)

    • @rvamericayall
      @rvamericayall  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Stuart! When we have it outside, we like to sit it on a table like we did in this video. After it cools down, we cover it with a tarp to protect it from the weather. (They also make a cover specifically for it, but we don't have one of those at this time.) When we travel, it rides in one of the basement storage bays of our RV. We don't have huge storage bays in our Breeze, so we made sure to measure before we got it to know that it would fit. We like to take it in and out of the bay while the RV slides are in since that makes it easier than working underneath the slide. Green Mountain Grills list the dimensions with the legs folded for storage as 20.5” H x 27.75” W x 17.5” D. The side tray that clips on rides inside the grill, and the drip bucket rides either inside the grill or in the hopper (if there is room). We keep the wifi antenna and power cord inside a sealed plastic tote while we travel. Here's the Amazon link in case you'd like more info: amzn.to/32RYMfb
