Nice comparison, but I think they missed the boat with the new racking system. A rack you can't pull out and in the back of the grill? For me, I would like a shelf that you can pull in/out which also doubles your cooking space. Also, when going for a long smoke, I like to put the meat on the middle rack where you can use a water/drip pan.
Hi Fellas! Great video, and you pushed me over the edge 🙂. After watching your review, I pulled the trigger on the Green Mountain Grills Peak Prime 2.0 WiFi Pellet Grill!! Im super excited for its arrival. And now I trying to buy the Grill Cover you show at the beginning of the video, but I cant find it!!! Ive hit many websites and Im not having any luck. How did you get it? Where? Also Id like to get one of the thermal covers as well but no dice so far. Any advice? Thanks guys, great vid!! T-Bone
Thanks for the comment, I do not think any dealer has the accessories for them just yet, but you will see them be available in the next few weeks for sure. If you got your hands on a Peak 2.0 you're a step ahead of us on the east coast lol.
I've had my JB for 10 years and love it. I like the new design but not the rack design. It looks like the rib rack will only set to the sides, either left or right. It would have been better to have extra holes so the rack could have multiple positions. A full rack of ribs will be hanging off to one side. A option of a full second shelf would have been nice. Looks to be quite sturdy, much better than the original. Overall a very good upgrade
What was the difference in the gauge of steel? Was it a higher in strength, or does it bend slightly over time? How is the fire pot emptied, still vacuumed out?
13 and 14 gauge steel. Fire pot gets vacuumed out, has a vacuum tube on the right side so you really do not need to take it apart, only reason is if it's too caked up then you would.
Yeah, that was freaking awesome. Ron opening the door, It was like being at a casino, playing the slot machines. And hitting a jackpot!!! Like this video for the manufacturer!!!!
I actually have the Daniel boone love the smoker tons of stainless steel parts. Sad to see gmg went away with some of it. At the end of the day I’m still having a sand it down and paint it if GMG would come out with a fully stainless barrel I would be all over it unfortunately rectec does so that will be my next purchase. I’m tired of sending and painting rust stainless steel is the way to go if you’re purchasing something that is $1000 and actually their model is under $1000. That’s all stainless drum .
The stainless Rectec is using isn’t the high grade stuff you might be thinking of. There are a lot of different qualities in stainless and I can show you pictures of one of those barrels rotted out. If you keep the GMG clean and make sure grease isn’t getting into the barrel you should be good for many years without any problems.
Appreciate the comment, the SS rusts just like any other metal, they use grade 440, which is a very malleable material for molding, I have pictures of plenty of rusted out Rectec smokers that are rotted all the way though. I'm not bad mouthing them at all, but they are now owned by yet another hedge fund with investors they need to make happy. I respect your decision, but nothing is going to be perfect. Happy smoking brother!
@@DRSmokeNJ so mine rusting on the outside means that gmg is? i love my gmg but when i called customer service abt it they said sand and paint it. i clean mine out every 20-30 cooks and its mostly chicken breast and non greasy meats. never cooked a steak on it. I have a egg for that. Also my front casters are rusted and need to be replaced i guess i will call the company and eat that cost. I used to have a pit boss. also my vacuum door is completely rusted which is weird. the grill it in NC and under a covered shelter. id just like to see GMG add a deflector to the bottom of the barrel or go stainless." other than the hood"
Hey guys. Does the sear side feature actually work to sear steaks well? I almost bought an outdoor Infared sear grill as a stand a lone unit but this new GMG may be a 2 in 1 device for me now!
I'm enjoying my Davy Crocket since about 5 years ago. I've been thinking about getting a big brother.. but I like to put my smoker against a wall. This chimney placement will cause some issues..
If you ever cooked on an older model with Weideman mods you realize that they should have made it that height - the height of your kitchen stove - MUCH better. Nothing to make me give up my 2017 non-WF JB
I don' t know what you are smoking but the two are BS. I just spent hours attempting to replace the igniter doing it the way you recommend. No way the Trek requires that you pretty much take the whole thing apart. the wires run through the hopper to a hole yes but that has a seal around the wires that has to be carefully removed in order to remove the two wire that go to the igniter. removing the hopper and the fan and auger allows for you to easily run the wires from the igniter to the proper connection attempting to use your method string and pull wires from the igniter box will not work .
Hell of a review - great idea to see the old VS new side by side fellas!
Thanks Buddy

I love my Green mountain grill I have a peek up until when it quit and I needed igniter and then waiting since Christmas to get one
Cant decide peak vs ledge. What do you dr smoke folks use at home?
I use a peak, how many people are you cooking for?

Yes absolutely it gets hot!! Quick too
Is there anything different with the Fan, Auger system?
Where do i find the cover? Very interested in the 2.0 but i emailed yall and i got a reply that the cover doesn't exist.
Not sure where you sent the message to, but the 2.0 is not available just yet, but very soon we will have it all.
@@DRSmokeNJ what is yalls website so i can be looking out for it?

Can this smoker run wood chips like the regular ledge ? My ledge gas been running wood chips/ pellets with no problem
I cannot wait to get my hands on one of these! Great job guys
?? Been using mine for months now and it’s fantastic
Are those Ledge prime 2 available yet ? If so how much $
I cannot wait to get the new model!
The cover working for both takes my excuse to buy the new grill away 😂
Older one sounds and looks more rigid?
No I would say both equally rigid same gauge steel.
I don't see the cover available online, anyone find it?
I have them on our website www.njpelletgrills.com
Glad I didn’t buy one this month now I have to wait until next year though. I guess I’ll give me more time to save can’t wait.
Update, anyone know if they’re making these now in the United States?
(USA) Expect to see these in the first couple months of 2024. Hitting the west coast first.
Great show case…👍👍
I know you are pointing out the differences, but y’all really make the original version sound like it’s the Dollar General model.
Didn't mention the optional searzone

Where is the one with the burner

We have done many ignitors my friend and this is how we replace them.
Didn’t mention sear station
dont like the power cord upgrade i have back issues dont need to get on my knees everytime to plug the unit in . i think that is a very bad feature
Dax Square
Come on g m g! No Ash clean ! the old fashioned way , get your shit together
I can believe they are still using grease buckets. Disappointing
