The person with the 5900X also had a custom hydro flask, those things are like $60-$70 depending on the size lmao dude just throwing money into the wind
Exactly, it also reduces the scratches on the devices (particularly useful for smartphones and tablets ~ anything with optical sensors or displays, like a DSLR camera for example), while it also makes dusting off easier as you can just grab the clothing and shake it off outside, same with cleaning it with the laundry. The one featured in the footage could be a little smaller, but whatever works... It's clean too, so it deserves a praise!
@@grey.7828 Obviously with top-opened cases it's not doable over the entire structure, the point is to increase the practicality, not suffocate the rig or turn it into an oven.
Thank you for the roast, for context; my PC at 8:34 was actual my first PC from 20 odd years ago - absolutely right it isn’t a daily driver (well… not anymore) The docking of the Switch was more of a “just because I can, doesn’t mean I should” situation - I wanted to prove it worked to myself for the sake of it! 😅
That uber-dirty setup at 13:30 is likely in a dense urban area, possibly in India or Brazil or somewhere. I have dealt with living next to a highway, and the constant problems with oily film on everything from the vehicles passing by. Inside a dense city like Chicago or New York would likely be worse, and a dense non-US city would likely be far worse than that. I remember getting a shipment of servers (Supermicro 3U servers, Westmere era Xeon) that had been running in Mumbai for less than a year (and then sitting in customs in India for 2 more years) from my company's attempts at setting up an India development center, and even though they had been running less than a year, the entire inside was coated in a fine black oily dirt. I had to clean then out and replace all the fans (3 high speed 92mm(?) fans per server, 28 total servers) over the course of setting them up in our development lab in Colorado. Dense city centers are horribly dirty, and many cities outside the US also have to deal with heavy environmental dust from surrounding areas and/or a lack of paving.
My initial thought was sharing a house with (or being) a heavy indoors smoker could cause a lot of build up too. I've had to deal with exactly one electronics device from such a house, it took all of two weeks to kill a cheap printer with the build up of smoker tar. (And I know it was the one we sold two weeks earlier because I checked the serial number!)
Nah dense non-US cities are usually much better. Take Central London for example, the very, very strong emissions regulation means that pretty much everything white stays white. It has to because half the buildings in the area are pure white stone or marble on the outside
I mean, you could just use adhesive zip tie mounts, and then very loosely zip tie the cable out of the way. Create a sort of track for the cable to follow when the desk adjusts.
OMG I used to have that desk at 8:00 !! My parents bought it before I was born (I'm 24 now) and it spent most of its life abandoned in the basement. I used it for a bit when I got my first apartment since any desk was better than none, but ended up discarding it once I moved as it was a really limiting size. Still kinda miss it; it wasn't a great desk by any means, but I have a lot of fond memories of putting together my first janky "setup" with that thing. The fact that Linus recognizes it is honestly really cool, what are the chances?
8:34 omg that was my very first computer, I bought it in like 2000/2001. It had a 1ghz AMD Duron that overheated like a thousand suns and came with Windows ME.
1:36 The One Punch Man titty mouse pad paired with the Naruto and Sasuke socks shows that this is the setup of a very cultured individual. I am sad that Linus didn't even bring up the mouse pad though.

@@justsomeguy5103 - Go find a dictionary, SAT section and find SATIRE.... 😂🤣. It really was a fine meme too together with the Nissan Juke - the frog car.
“A towel is about the most massively useful thing an interstellar hitchhiker can have. Partly it has great practical value. You can wrap it around you for warmth as you bound across the cold moons of Jaglan Beta; you can lie on it on the brilliant marble-sanded beaches of Santraginus V, inhaling the heady sea vapors; you can sleep under it beneath the stars which shine so redly on the desert world of Kakrafoon; use it to sail a miniraft down the slow heavy River Moth; wet it for use in hand-to-hand-combat; wrap it round your head to ward off noxious fumes or avoid the gaze of the Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal (such a mind-boggingly stupid animal, it assumes that if you can't see it, it can't see you); you can wave your towel in emergencies as a distress signal, and of course dry yourself off with it if it still seems to be clean enough.”

17:57 I mean, the desk can obviously be adjusted height-wise, so there must be a bit of slack on the cable
This is the answer
17:52 is a powered stand/sit desk, you HAVE to have a loop for power so the desk can move.
I wanted to write the same thing. Not much you can do.
My desk has the exact same loop for that reason. One of the only cords visible. The loop is a status symbol, really.

0:59 I unironically, honestly love this.
11:52 I actually used to do this with an old system. Looks weird, but it helps to keep stuff you pile on top of it from slipping off.
No air flow from top?
@@grey.7828 Obviously with top-opened cases it's not doable over the entire structure, the point is to increase the practicality, not suffocate the rig or turn it into an oven.

There are also developed countries outside the US, you know.
living in the desert. (new mexico) I swear, I can dust my computer off, and 5 minutes latter you'd never know.
I live in Chicago and that definitely doesn’t happen here
My initial thought was sharing a house with (or being) a heavy indoors smoker could cause a lot of build up too.
18:28 looks like that cable is dangling because that's an adjustable height desk. don't want to have the cable getting yanked out when you go to stand
I mean, you could just use adhesive zip tie mounts, and then very loosely zip tie the cable out of the way. Create a sort of track for the cable to follow when the desk adjusts.
1:08 this is so fucking cozy, you have no idea how much i wanna hang out here

OMG I used to have that desk at 8:00 !!
My parents bought it before I was born (I'm 24 now) and it spent most of its life abandoned in the basement. I used it for a bit when I got my first apartment since any desk was better than none, but ended up discarding it once I moved as it was a really limiting size. Still kinda miss it; it wasn't a great desk by any means, but I have a lot of fond memories of putting together my first janky "setup" with that thing. The fact that Linus recognizes it is honestly really cool, what are the chances?
I swear I found something like that at some point.
