    i was building a NAS. So naturally i looked at my spare parts bin and realized it may be best to just buy a used PC. I ended up rage messaging nearly every seller because their prebuilt with a 10400 wasnt worth $1500. Dont forget the builds with an AIO listed as custom water cooling.

      I ended up building my nas with an 8700k and found a board in my parts bin that would work. Unfortunately it's ATX so I'd still like to get a micro ATX board so I can get a smaller nas case.

Put an ad up the other day for $22K, received a few funny offers, 3 weeks later a guy said he's happy with the asking price and there we go, sorted, no issues.

And not only that but I would have to deal with Mr. and Ms. "Attitude" throughout this already negative experience practically 2 out of 3 messages. From getting offended at asking for $20 reduction on an item that cost over $200 (when it clearly said "or best offer") to people raising prices when you get to their place "Oh this other guy called and he is willing to give me $40 more for this" highballing BS. On top of that - people disappearing for no apparent reason in the middle of conversation, people refusing to answer legitimate questions (or pretending they didn't read them), people NOT KNOWING WHICH CPU OR HOW MUCH RAM THE COMPUTER THEY'RE SELLING HAS (despite the ad being there for over 2 months)...etc. etc.

    I have been wanting to buy a Radeon VII for years. Just to mess around with it, I like the HBM2 it has. Originally, it cost 800€ in Germany. Before this recent insanity, you could buy it used for 300-400€, a couple of years ago.
    During the end of last year, those were 900 to 1500€, and now they still want to get 600-700€ for it. Even though there are now better GPUs available for much cheaper.

      It is a cool GPU that has its advantages. Supposedly that HBM2 is good for Ryse as there's a stutter that can only be overcome with that gigantic bandwidth. If I collected GPUs like the 8800GT or 7970 or 980 Pro etc I would add a Radeon VII to that collection for sure.

      Same. I build machines for my production company, and 128 GB is standard, but we’re doing things like AI upscaling and huge file renders and usually still have lots left over. I cannot fathom why anyone would need over 32 in a gaming machine. Even that is overkill really.

      @PsiliPharm2012 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@brandonwilson3507 considering how technology evolves and software demands are ever growing, this statement isn’t likely to age well. It’s like that quote attributed to Bill Gates where he is alleged to have said that “640KB out to be enough for anybody”. LTT even did a video recently suggesting that both the system architecture and the games themselves are starting to utilize more memory than they have before. And if you want to be able to game at high resolutions while simultaneously running Chrome, Discord, OBS/Twitch and other popular streaming apps which can use up a good chunk of memory, then having some “head room” isn’t a terrible idea. If you’ve ever encountered a memory leak in a game or any other application, then it’s also better to have more free memory available to delay the inevitable crash. (Not the best use case, but it’s happened to me, so I’m sure others have experienced this before.) Note: Still, that being said, 128GB is overkill for 99% of the gaming population.

As system architecture gets better and more integrated, and memory speeds from SSD’s and their successor technologies advances, not to mention cloud gaming, high system RAM may become more of a thing for specialists. I can foresee a future where memory and network latency are bigger impacts, along with the CPU’s ability to decode and run dedicated processes.

    I put up my 3080 PC for $1800, and got multiple messages from people saying I was smoking crack to list a PC for that much. I added everything up at the time, and the individual parts were worth $2400 used, and the PC was in pretty much brand new condition.

    "And then you can put the laptop in the backpack. Then you don't need the warranty."
    I would've thought there would be a ban on putting the word "backpack" and the phrase "don't need the warranty" so close together.

      Probably because they don't care, anyone who whined about that whole debacle are just a bunch of Karens, wasn't an issue until GN made a big fuss about it. LMO said they stand behind their product, if someone needs it drawn in crayon to make them feel better they should just not buy the product.

      Also, are they claiming the backpack can prevent manufacturing defects in any third party laptop? Like, imagine someone buying their backpack and a laptop without a warranty, then their laptop breaks in any other way than physical damage, but one which would be covered by warranty, except they don't have the warranty on the laptop because the backpack was supposed to protect it? IANAL but this sounds like it could put LTT in deep trouble.
