I made a comment that Old timers always said to me do the D shackle up tight, then back them off slightly. Based on a few of the comments here, that is bad advice, not best practice and they should always be tight.
Interesting, I understood that they bind up on the thread if stretched in use. I always turn them back a fraction then use a cable tie to stop the pin from coming loose. Coming looser ? :-)
You have one of the best channels on TH-cam. No fake drama, no over-acting because the camera is on, no distracting (always annoying) background music, no pretense; just good, honest content.
Thanks very much Mike, I did a poll a few months ago and most people said they weren’t that keen on music so that’s why I don’t have any. There are probably a few “slow” parts in sections but I’m not getting too many complaints.
@@bruceinaus"slow parts" are great. They are very much needed in these stressful times we live in. Also no music makes it so much more relaxing. Its the right choice 👍👍
There is a New Zealand contributor who has his own TH-cam channel named Marty T. He has the same idea as Bruce. His commentary is very frank and factual, no obnoxious behaviour, just what the viewer wants to hear. Marty T concentrates on tractors, bulldozers and an excavator.
Well done Bruce, I knew if anyone could get that truck started, you could. I’m always amazed at why machinery like that just gets left as it’s seems to still be in good mechanical condition. Good luck with the surgery mate. Cheers, Stuart. Canberra.
Ive driven one of these that was an absolute beast ,, it had a drill rig on the back and would roar like a dragon all the way up to 130k's . Definitely an impressive truck of their time in my books .
There's an old Canadian comedy show called kids in the hall, best little skit is called 'try it now' . Guy gets into a car and it won't start so he opens the hood, says try it now to the wife and it still won't start. So he checks the tires. Again tells the wife try it now. Still won't start. He washes the windshield and again tells the wife try it now... nothing. Then he gets out his painting equipment and gives it a new coat of paint. Tells her try it now. It starts right up . They get in and go. Lol
The reason I like watching Bruce is I think he would still be reviving old machines even if he wasn't making videos just because it's fun. I always have some project I'm fixing on, making trash into treasure
Never saw the siphoning process initiated like that.. pretty handy tip... As always, thanks for sharing Bruce... Hope everyone has a great day or night!
All us older guys are ailing from something. PRAYERS for you and the eye surgeon! I've had clutches go out on me before and have gotten them dumped and back to the shop but you've sure got to watch what your doing. PLEASE let us know how you're getting. CHEERS to you!
Great work guys, thanks for all your work, as always it’s a pleasure to watch a knowledgeable gentleman in action. Best of luck with your surgery, and hopefully we’ll see you back here soon.
Hi from Central Arkansas. I hope you recover well, Bruce. I really enjoy your videos. Please say a prayer for my wife, as we just found out she has some sort of mass on her left kidney. God Bless.
Glad you got the old girl moving under it's own power. Good luck with your eye surgery. Hope you can come back to make more interesting and great videos. Paul. In Thailand. Oh and I'm an English Expat.
Yessssssss, another new Bruce video ! Bruce you are a true mechanical wizzard,i always learn form you a lot from youre video's. Thank you so much 😊 Greetings from Holland 💪🏻🫡🇦🇺❤️🔧
I'll tell you this for nothing - it's been a long time since anyone was able to see anything through that windscreen! Man alive, it took some scrubbing! I wish you all the very best for your eye surgery and hope it all goes well. Take care.
Hi Bruce, here's wishing you all the very best from a Brit in Berlin, Germany. I hope the operation goes well , is successful and you have a sppedy recovery. She's up, running and moving. A testament to Japanese engineering and your tenacity. Now to the question that's bothering me. There were obviously no serious issues when the vehicle was abandonded otherwise you wouldn't have got to where you are now so why was she sat there so long? Something for you to think about while you're recovering. Hope you keep us posted as to how you're getting on. No video, no vehicles, just a quick update about you.
That moon buggy is like having your own tank. Definitely my favourite piece of equipment so far. Good luck with your surgery. Hope to see you back soon
That was well worth watching Bruce, made my day when I saw the truck move. All the best for the surgery, looking forward to your next episode once you've all healed up. Cheers mate from New Zealand
All the best with your surgery , and hope for a great outcome.... Rest up and when the time comes, start knocking out those great clips.... Good Luck :)
I’m glad your eye surgery went well! I read in another comment where you’re recovering. I’m 38 and lost my left eye about 10 years ago; I’ve had my fair share of eye complications and surgeries.
Great video. Wish you well with the eye surgery. Getting that moon buggy working proved itself invaluable. I remember the cattle looking on with interest when got the engine going on first video of the tipper.
Hi Bruce, another fine job is there anything you can’t start I just love it when you get them running a great job mate, I like it as you just get stuck in to it and of you go but it not that easy you just make it look that way I enjoy every minute, Well Bruce you take care of yourself and stay safe.🛠️🛠️🛻🛻⭐️⭐️👍❤️
Old Pom, here. Two doses of Aus, this week. First, a fella from Melbourne comes to my garage in Hartlepool, NE England, to buy Capri parts, then this. Both thoroughly enjoyable experiences. Love this stuff - why, I don’t know, but I do.
Here in the states we use Morooka Buggys to carry our engine-driven welding machines up and down the treacherous Right of Way building pipeline. Haven't seen an older Morooka like that in ages. New fan here Bruce. Great videos.
And there we have a real life demonstration of the most significant advantage of a tracked vehicle..... minimal footprint in loose/soggy ground. Great job there mate.. keep it up
I can't believe how clear the exhaust is....I just knew there'd be a use for that cane buggy! I just had my eye surgery....you should get a new lease on life when you've recovered. Very best of luck!
As a cheap bugger myself I am always surprised when people leave things to rot. I'll add that's the coolest mobile terrarium going. All the best with the surgery!

Thanks for heading back out to this old rig. I don't see many cab over trucks like this anymore in the States, it's interesting to see how it's done down under.
Another great vlog Bruce, I just love the mischief you get up to, makes me feel young again mate. Great tip on the clutch, that was one my Pop taught me when I first started driving and never forgot it, hearing you tell it makes me think he must have told a few old mates over here to…. lol. As always mate, terrific stuff, keep them coming. Great that you got the old cane carrier going in the earlier episodes, come in handy . That truck sounds awesome when she’s raving out like that. Well done Bruce. Ps, all the best for the eye surgery mate, don’t give those nurses too much grief
Good old school mechanic Bruce will get anything vehicle running and moveing don't matter how many years its sat as long as its complete nothing fails and no fakeing and won't give up till hes gets the job done much respect to him and hope he has many years of enjoying wat he does with vehicles 👍
