You can definitely see Jacob is learning a lot.Wily you did a good job raising him.If you go back to your first videos and compare them to your videos now. What a big change.
Great video Wiley and Jacob. You guys make a great team. Take advantage of his youth. As a man who suffers from arthritis I take advantage of my children’s youth all the time. Keep up the great work✌️
I loved those trucks when I was in the Army. You can't hardly break them. I want an old deuce and a half or 5 ton just to play around with and go to the deer camp. You have really good videos and are good at what you do with Jacob and Hank!!!!!!!
Excellent video Wiley :) , Jacob :) yes those trucks built tough and run so well too ! My one neighborhood neighbor farmer had when in childhood years 1980 to 1997 he used for lots stuff and not sure ton was but loud hear for miles!
Thanks for another great video Wiley and Jacob. It was interesting and enjoyable. Nice work getting this old military truck started and running. Ran pretty good. Decent motor the way it sounds. You and Jacob drove it and seemed to drive well. With some TLC that old beast might be of use to someone. Thanks to both you you for getting it going. Good job. Thanks for everything Wiley and Jacob. You take care. The Iowa farm boy. Steve.
id love have some parts of those military parts trucks. like the top of one of those cabs & the mirror assemblys both sides . that place is a parts haven for military 35 2a truucks
Yes willy there hell good trucks.the canadian military bought fleets of them.i drove few time 1976-80 with big cummins nh tough vehicle.the sas and gsg9 commando was shock how american built trucks like this.we wrecker pull tanks yes 2 trucks just insane.this truck good made wreckers.thanks video😊
Back in the day they used 5-ton as shooting because 5-ton used to had machine guns up top and in the front bumper the 5-Ton people in military would stand in front and shoot
Attention Saturday's market shoppers there is a bunch of very good deals on 5 ton ex military surplus at different logging companies going for sale drive them of flat tow them on the bumper at anytime
Newer A2 duece and a half's with Multifuels have stacks. The older gassers and early multi's have a down pipe. Same thing goes for 5 tons. More to it than that, but that's the simple answer. I own some of each.
@@kevinmhilding well when I was in the army 1978-1984 I never saw a 5 ton without a stack nor seen a 2 1/2 with one? and I was a 64C Heavy, (truck driver)
I love the videos you all make and this truck is amazing! Wish I could buy that, if it's for sale but couldn't afford it anyway...I'm in Canada so can barely keep up with bills with the current government. Keep up[ the great work! Glad to see the young blood getting into it, that's fantastic!!!!!!
I doubt that the truck is a 5 ton, based on it's suspension alone it looks more like an OTR model or semi tractor. The rear suspension alone could be at least a 40,000 capacity. Aren't most 5 ton rims 5 or 6 bolt rims? This truck has 10!😅😅 The front winch must be at least 40,000 capacity, IMHO. Good job getting it done Will ..😊
That is a former 5-ton cargo truck switched over with that fifth wheel removing the Box. You can look around to Military Surplus truck dealers around the country they have all the manuals you're going to need for repair and replacing taken care of operating that truck and many other pieces of equipment in the military. It's too bad that more veterans are not getting their hands on these pieces of equipment so they'll be treated proper.
5 Tons absotely had Herc's in them. Actually the A2 variant of the M39 5 Ton, would have had an LDT-465-1A, C, or D (Hercules, Continental or White) in it. I own one, M52A2. @@justmengracie
I’m pretty sure that’s what they call a bridge truck, they had a longer wheelbase and the bigger tires. They came with a bunch of hoisting equipment on the back to set bridge sections in rivers.
If he has title for that military truck or sf97 form you can take the hitch off back, put a bed on it and probably get away driving it with a class c license.. but i know in NC.. dot will give you hell with class c for double axles on flat bed even if its military.
I have seen Continental 6602 and Cummins NHC 250 non turbocharged in the military trucks that at a glance looked like a Cummins. But you're the guy that's looking at it.. saw a Mack in an older 1953 military 5 ton tow truck
@AA-tb4ff This one looked just like 5ton M816 medium wrecker and was on a 5T chassis, but I can't swear to the model. I do know it was listed as a 1953 because I had to fill out the exemption paperwork for emission testing in a government fleet. It had Wittenberg hard top and a very nice running Mack engine and almost no hours it always started no matter how cold it got.The State of Washington bought it surplus from the military for WSDOT, and we used it to lift heavy stuff around the yard like snowplows and sanders, we had it many years. It got traded for a new Grove AP308 deck crane sometime in the late 1990s
@martyp7134 we had 2 of em at Ft. Devens in the 39th Engineer Battalion cmbt HQ, and they had v8 diesels definitely not gas and definitely not a cummins. Later, around 81, we received 2 M 916 tractors with inline 6 cummins, big cam 3 and a caterpillar 7155 air over hydraulic 18 speed semi automatic and 10 wheel drive.
If one of those vehicles are 24 volt what would you have to do to jump it off before you have is a 12-volt jump box, or something like that, thanks for the info and I really enjoy watching this kind of stuff, if I'm not careful I' might even learn something,, Facebook have to be in Northeast Tennessee or Western West Virginia or South Kentucky to pretty a country to be anywhere else😊
You hook your Jump Box up to one battery just like you normally do. But please make sure. I never had time to do that but i think i am right. Thanks for watching
Those is when truck where trucks an heavy made . A run a million miles as long as you keep up with oil changes . based trucks were equipped with the Cummins NHC 250 855 cu in (14.0 L) naturally aspirated inline 6 cylinder diesel engine. That is what that looked like was a Cummins.
Looks like a seven n half or ten. Could be a tank transport those things are over built for moving tanks dozers and etc. Id buy it if it's not to bad cause it's still a 6x6 so I can think of a few or so jobs I can put it to work doing right now

Would love to have that military truck!
That is one cool piece of machinery!! Nice job guys!
Thanks 👍
I love the primer lever! Jacob use the mirrors when backing up, most big trucks don't have a back window
He didn’t even want to back it in there. Your right on the mirrors
How lucky was that not a whole lot of work to get it started

That place is treasure trove of qualty used pieces and parts. Enjoyed the video
Jacob looked like a old pro driving that beast
Those are tough old trucks. Not fast but very capable
I believe this truck is an M818 its got a 250 NA Cummins in it its an 855 series. Good reliable old truck and can put in a heck of a day of hard work!
Been so long since I started a military truck, was looking at the switches trying to remember which ones to flip
Lol. I tell thats a lot
Wiley your sons lucky to have you he can learn a hell of a lot from you listen to your father Jacob I know I should have thank you ken

It has lockout bars on top of the rear spring leaves, indeed a bridgelayer or wrecker maybe ? I dont think the regular 5 ton cargo has that feature
Thanks for sharing
Great video guys.
Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
This is actually a 10 ton version of the 5-ton used to transport tanks in Vietnam.
No, it's not an M123, It's an 800 Series - 5 Ton.
Awesome video, Wiley. 5 tons are nice vehicles. I appreciate you, Wiley 👍

Hi Wally good to see you back on again

Nice work.
Thanks!
That would be fun to drive in Nashville, TN. Can I have one? Wow! I wonder if they will all run? Can't believe they just leave them there.
Something happens to one and they keep it around for a donor truck. Its not far from Nashville.
That makes a great recovery truck. Thanks for the video
