- In this video, I do a bit more work on this 60 year old Supercharged V12 Detroit Diesel 2 stroke powered dump truck named Wally Wabco. This truck had been retired from its duties and sitting for 20+ years in a Quarry before I rescued it late last year. I also give an update on my how my eye surgery went and thank everyone for all the well wishes. Thanks for watching, Bruce.
Hope you have recovered from your eye surgery! So glad to see you wrenching on Wally again!
What! When was this?
@@mookitty2396 How come you don't know? Aren't you a Bruce fan?

I am very glad things are going well, Bruce. As far as that wise cameraman, I think we all appreciate him having your best interests at heart.
Great to hear bruce. I really enjoy your videos you are such a genuine person. Kind caring and meticulous. Good to hear your surgery went great and your eyesight is back.
Well done Bruce, nice to see you back on your feet. Exceptionally well done the camera man. Firstly for the work on the camera, secondly for doing lots of other things and thirdly, most importantly, for keeping Bruce on the leash to prevent him getting himself into trouble.
Glad you're making a good recovery, take it easy!!
It's great to see you recover from your eye surgery Bruce and it's great that you are back on Wally Wabco , from Warwick Qld 🦘
Good job getting that piston out - but hearing about your eye was far more important and I am so pleased to hear your outcome - take care
Hey Bruce, had my cataracts done about twelve years ago. Really glad to hear you're doing well. It's bad enough getting older without loosing vision.😊
glad the eye surgery went well!
This is what makes your channel special Bruce . Just like the other blokes we watch , Its the personal touch you and the others add . It was something to see the patience involved in getting the valve from that cylinder . And the explanation about the feeler gauge and the seal is really good info . Dont do anything too strenuous for a bit . Good to see you and Jax about again . Scott 🌵
I´m so happy it all went well with the surgery, Bruce! Best of luck having the other eye done 👍
You're a true Aussie legend. Love the videos and glad the surgery went well for you. 👍
Take it steady Bruce, we all want you well.
That's quite impressive how you were able to have your eye fixed. I guess before we had modern technology people would have just went blind. I'm glad to hear that you were able to get fixed right up.
Glad you're back Bruce! What a treat just before bed in England.
Wow, on your eye! Sounds like somebody was looking out for you !!
Your patience is very demonstrative of your years of turning wrenches. Thanks for sharing the pressurized air trick.
Bruce, thanks for the up on the eye surgery and the encouragement to deal with issues promptly. Blokes think they are bulletproof, but the reality is we aren't. It's great to see you back on the tools, but take it easy. John
Good to have you back. Glad the eye surgery worked out!
Yay! Bruce is back
So glad you're doing well Bruce. Thanks for the update and continously teaching us new things!

Good advice Bruce, got to look after your eyes, we are blessed with eye surgeons that can pull off these nip, tuck and adjustment with scientific advancements in our modern times.
Hey Bruce! Good to see you back. I had the cataract surgery and had the trifocal lenses installed so I don’t need reading glasses!
Hello from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. I very much enjoy your videos - you are a great story teller. Good health to you and your family. Cheers.

Bruce glad to have you back after your surgery. I love the way you explain the way you are approaching a task. I am 81 and learn from you every video. i am in far West Texas.
Bruce, glad that ur eye's are doing better. working on the big yellow dump truck u will need some big tools.
Good to see you back on the mend Bruce. Health comes before TH-cam, so take it easy & I’m sure anything that’s been stuck in a field for any length of time, will still be there when you’re ready. 👍
Take it easy, Bruce. Love the videos.
Bruce, so glad your eye surgery was successful!
Good for you Bruce!Glad your doing well.Listen to the Doctor and dont overwork yourself.
that valve falling in the cylinder would have ended the project for most folks. i'm amazed you got it out. good luck on your surgery.
Glad you’re on the mend Bruce. The gas they use for reattaching the retina is Sulphur Hexaflouride (SF6)
Take care of yourself Bruce, and get well soon, from the UK, loving your Wally Wabco videos.
Great news your eyes are improving. Take it easy and pace yourself as you work. Not too much exertion.
Glad your surgery went well bruce keep up the good work mate 👍
Great to hear your story, sir. Glad you are mended and a very inspiring assurance to folk facing eye surgery. All the best to you, from the UK.
Dear Mr. Bruce.
👍👌👏 Congratulations 🎉 I'm happy to hear that all went well with your eye surgery. I wish you all the best for the surgery on the second eye.
Best regards, luck and health in particular.
Happy to hear everything went well with you surgery. Now get back to work. 😂
Hi Bruce, Glad you had your Cataracts done. I have had both my eyes done and I was easily the youngest guy in the room at 50.
The surgeon said to me “why did you wait so long” as they were pretty bad.
I was amazed like you that things had edges again.
One think I will say is gradually your eyes can become cloudy again as cells stick to the artificial lenses.
It can take a couple of years to occur. Mine took another 10 years to become a problem. I’m now over 60.
It’s an easy fix with about a 10 minute procedure with a laser while you are awake. Just bright lights but completely painless.
So be on the lookout for that and there is no need to put up with it. The doctors tend not to tell you about this problem.
You end up with what they call “floaties” inside your eye which is a bit like a fly on the wall which your brain tunes out after a while and eventually degrades and disappears. But way less problem than the cloudy/ double triple vision.
Loving your videos. Great work and keep your chin up 🤠
My goodness almost forgot Congrats on the eye surgery
Glad it went well for you and your vision has improved mate.
Great to hear the surgery went well. Good to have you back. It’s a good job You’ve got your apprentice camera man to do all the lacky jobs, looking forward to the next one
All the best with the recovery mate.
Good to hear everything turned out ok with your eye sight bruce cheers
I am so glad you are doing well, Bruce, I love how you tell a story; you are an international treasure. Keep up the content.
Good on ya big fella, glad you're back on track and doing well 👍👍
Jeez Bruce, sounds like you were really lucky with the eye mate, let’s face it though, you’ve always been a bit one eyed but it’s great you had a good outcome. Good save on the valve save, credit to the cameraman, looks like your patience has worn off on him. Great to see you back on Wally mate, speedy recovery, take care
glad to hear you go the eye sorted.Take care of yourself mate :) and please take it steady
You look and sound great Bruce. That was good of jaypaydirt to share some tips with you. He is a popular youtuber here in the states. Glad the mend is going well for you. You're an interesting and easy watch for many. Best regards, mjm
Good things come to humble and giving people ❤...
Bruce I sure love this content as it brings back good memories. Down here in Texas we took care of the Euclid R90 trucks. We had plenty of time messing around with maintenance on those trucks. The struts on those Euclids were charged with nitrogen and were filled with Neocon oil.
Gotta watch ya eye sight I had cataract done a few months ago it's day surgery now, hope the other eye surgery goes well to,thanks for sharing, all the best to you and your loved ones
Good deal Bruce. Glad you’re eyes are doing well. I have one cataract repair and one more to go.
Bruce, you tell stories like I do. Every detail 😂. I’m glad to hear they could fix you up. Always good to watch your videos mate.
Oh Bruce!! You really should give a shout out to you medical team!
Praise god you’re 20:20 vision now.
I work in the medical world, your story is how it typically it happens.
Take care of yourself, and keep up the great content - shout to your camera man - local hero
Cheers
bruce love ya vids keep them commin thnk you
I have a friend going in for the same surgery on the other eye after one eye retina detaching twice. I'm glad you got your site back. Unfortunately, my friend lost sight in the eye that detached twice. Trying to save the other from glaucoma and cataract.
You’ve got a great resource with Kurt and Karen @ Cutting Edge Engineering in Melbourne. He knows those struts inside out, literally. 😊😊
Good to see you back Mate...
Bruce Glad To See You Back From Aurora, Ohio USA
Hi Bruce sorry to hear about your eye Mate 😮 I only found on this episode that you had a serious Problem with your eye, the last time I saw you was when you were working on the white Truck in the cane fields. I must have missed an episode. Good to see, ( no pun intended ) your on the mend though, I'm always up for one of your episodes Mate, good for the old motivation, tips and tricks you share are awesome, take care Bruce, cheers Paul from Taree NSW
Holy heck, look at the size of those lift rams..
Hi Bruce, I think that snake was a python as they climb to shed their skin I have been told. If you look closely you may see the diamond pattern in the skin. Perhaps you should have pulled the pins on the door hinges to give you more room to get the seat out. Mind you, the door probably weighs 100 KG..
I had cataract surgery also but they did not knock me out, I was awake and aware the whole time. No big deal anyway. Your eye sight is the most important thing as everything stops if your eye sight goes. I get injections in both eyes for Macular degeneration these days. I still have 20 20 vision the eye specialist tells me. Not bad for 78 mate. Keep up the good work Bruce and thanks for sharing. cheers.
nice man looking good also 👍
I usually try giving the bolt a good solid whack on the top to shock the threads loose. I almost never have trouble getting them out. Sure there's the odd bolt that's rusted to the point where the head pops off when you try to work it. Aside from those I have pretty good luck.
Strewth Bruce! Gotta be good news you're not going blind then! Was the optometrist trying to be smart saying they'd keep an eye on you!😂!
Helium gas in your eyeball? Wouldn't that give you floaters?😅!
Anyway mate, GREAT to see ya back in action old stick! I bet you're pleased to be able to get back onto Wally Wabco ay! I'm super pleased about it too!
What shenanigans & muckarounds you needed to get that stupid seat out the way. Great idea with the compressed air to blow the the rusty dust out of the threads I'd not heard of THAT trick before!
Hey thanks heaps too Mr. Cameraman for all your helping Bruce get the seat out the way! Good thinking too, attaching the wire to the inspection camera to hook that bloody valve out!👍 Let's hope that seal is doing it's job now!
Great video Bruce, liked the yarn about the rebuild on your eye, can't keep a good man down, yes. Just one thing though, you mite won't to change out the air in the strut for some nitrogen gas or any inert gas, MIG welding gas [ARGON] will do the job, you should have some of that laying around. Air + Oil + Compression = ? . I could be wrong, but even a broken clock is right twice a day and with the fill valve right under the driver seat you might need some more eye surgery and it won't be on your blue eyes, Anyways really like watching your videos. thanks very entertaining .
It seems like that bolt was a monster to remove. I don’t know if this would’ve worked, but I always use a 50/50 mixture of ATF and acetone as a penetrating oil and extractor sockets to bite into the head of the bolt and prevent it from rounding.
I haven't seen the flexible spout wd40 here in the states. I'd probably buy one too if I found one. Best I've been able to do is take the wires out of a thermocouple tube and then insert a short peice of the normal red plastic tube. It is a very tight fit. This makes a nice long copper tube for a spray nozzle. But it's rather heavy and you have to use two hands to keep it all together.
Bruce, just cut back a little on bar fights and boxing until both eyes are lit up properly, then just have at it again.
8:08 Keep those dispensers when the can is empty as they fit on other cans.
That other video, I was like, lift that rear end up and lets see that water pour out.
That valve on the top of the strut was just a fail waiting to happen. I wonder how many times that has been done before on those struts.
you need a good oxy-acetylene torch set with a small brazing tip, and can cut the bolts right in half that were causing havoc on the seat. it's going to save time, and the hardware should be replaced with new. i'm not sure why they chose the MAP gas container, it's really not the right tool for the job.
WD need to give old mate here a pallet of wd40
You need to get something super tacky (like chewing gum) and keep it in your tool kit for picking up stuff in situations like this. There are some sticky waxes (Museum wax) or similar that work well.
Lol guess i should have waited.
V8 juice will help to.
40:51 being sick sucks but anything from the neck up is a pain in the ass
Use a telescopic magnet
Using Logic, a Very foreign concept now a days.
Not that I get to have someone help me ! But shall keep the air usage as I good idea in the future. Thanks
Wd can with metal flex bend tube is the best idea , yet my boss still fights with this set up too, we buy boxes of 24 cans of wd and occasionally get dud can in them and instead of getting credit he losses his shit and threw it at the floor and it burst making a mess then i gotta clean it up or lay in it , hard to believe a man of his age can be so childish and bad tempered like a 10 year old kid, does my head in and i,m looking to leave and go work for somebody who deserves my great work.
Good morning and G'day Bruce and to Camera man hahahaha
Have you ever came across and used Penetrwne Lubricant and Rust Penetrator which is pretty hard to find nowadays or the WD 40 version of it ??
@@johnnyo7621 Do you mean 'PENETRENE'? My mechanic father-in-law raves about that stuff! Wish I could get my hands on some of that too!
@@johnnyo7621 I just had a look on line & there's still a number of places you can get penetrene from!😁👍!
@@nevillegoddard4966 Yep mate that's the stuff.
My bad I just realised the w slipped in and I didn't click LOL.
I just noticed CRC has something similar also.
My old mates father use to always use it also constantly with automotive stuff and railway stuff.
And it really is amazing stuff.
I managed to find 2 cans in a Bursons near me and haven't found it in any other auto or tool shop around me
BUT have noticed it online.
eBay from $16.90 to $19.00 around there and some other place called refast for $16.95
Eye surgery can be life changing-I had what doctors called rapidly forming cataracts which went from nonexistent to level 3 and 4 in 14 months (4 is the maximum measure); long story short, I was 54 years old at the time (56 now) and as I am currently, I teach high school English and do electrical work during summer months-so I need my vision. My interocular lenses were both replaced and my vision was completely restored. I was shocked at how bright the sun, moon and stars really are-what a blessing! Cheers!
