    I used to do speed skating, and one aspect of double push you don’t mention is that it does feel good. Not sure I did it right but it did feel good.

    I've been rollerblading since 1988 in my late 20s. All this time I thought it was just fancy show-off footwork and it actually makes me faster?! Cool.

    Same average heart rate, but different speeds - does it therefore follow that at the same speed you would have a lower heart rate with double push and hence it should be less tiring for a longer distance? I had not heard people claiming it was faster, just more efficient (e.g. you are unlikely to see a double push during a sprint).

    Great vid Victor!!! 👏 I was just discussing this with another speed skater friend.
    For another video, can you do one on wheel wear and how different wear profiles/pattern tells how you’re skating and how it could be a clue as to what you’re doing right or wrong?

    So I’m a quad skater. I do most of my skating on he street, and I seem to have figured out the double push by sheer accident, I think. I’ll test it later today

    Maybe you can do a comparison between a "good" and a "bad" boot, say your normal ones vs a cheaper model with poor fit (like a size too big)? Or what about trying out a bad frame setup? (e.g. moving it out 0.5cm)

    great comparison! what about comparing differnt types and numbers of bearings. Like ABEC 9 vs ABEC 7 and ABEC 5. I never really trusted that they can give really significant difference in casual city skating, but I would like to see if there is a differenca on a speed track.

    Despite the fact there are a lot of video's that show how a double push need to look like and even some with in depth explenations, I still don't know how to perform an double push and especially what I need to feel in my body when the whole 'package' comes together. Could you make a video like no other and try to explain what needs to be happend in the body at any time during the performance of the double push. For example where needs to be pressure and when not. I find it hard to do the smaller inside push. It feels unnatural. Thank YOU.

    • @alessela7119

    For professional skater whom has Long legs. Height about 190-200 cm --> 60-70Km/hr might be standard. Hope to see 75-80Khm/hr soon for tall guys. For short guy 40-50km/hr might be standard 55-60 km/hr might be maximum due to push distance is shorter than tall guy.

      The taller you are, the bigger surface area you create. Bigger surface area = more aerodynamic drag. Fastest sprinters in cycling are tiny dudes.

    Intuitively double push is 2x faster :)

    • @kacperrutkowski6350
      @kacperrutkowski6350 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      More like between 1.26 and 2 times, because "intuitively" it should double the power. The rolling resistance is proportional to speed (power, not force z which is almost constant) and air resistance is proportional to speed cubed (still taking about power, force is proportional to speed squared).

    • @sim169
      @sim169 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@kacperrutkowski6350 Good point. What if, in the double push, the inside edge produces 5 times more power than outside edge push? It is possible due to the efficiency of a double push. lol

    I like your test but the test is only done on an inline track. It is quite likely that on ice the advantage is in the opposite direction because of the smother surface. Who knows?

    • @thorupviktor
      @thorupviktor  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Double push is highly inferior to classic skating, when skating on ice. Trust me.
