    I used to use a specialized flush designed for AC systems until a friend recommended Mineral Spirits which sells for 1/4 the cost of the AC flush and does a much better job in my opinion and won't harm the seals.

    If you remove a compressor to replace an old oil from it (car was sitting without AC ~ for 10 years, how better to clean that compressor (I think it is working), with Mineral spirits or with that special Flush Liquid for flushing car AC? Thank you for the informative film.

    I have a 2014 Toyota sienna! The ac siezed up and i'm replacing the compressor, condenser, and expansion valve! My question is that it has a rear ac system with a expansion valve! Do i need to flush the rear system as well and if i do i will need to replace the expansion valve!
    I got a qoute from AAA and they suggested leaving the rear alone! Does anyone have experience with flushing mini vans ac system! Thank you!

    Hi first u flush with 100% evaporating hydrocarbon fluid .Use nitrogen to push the flush thru . There will be no chance of contamination [debris or moisture ] Most shop air has huge amounts of both . . If u used shop air then nitrogen blow thru is STRONGLY advised .This will shorten your vacuum time down as well by upto 6 hours . If u used compressed air, vac pump time is at least over night ie 12 hours .

      KaoticFdr1 What kind is on a 99 grand cherokee limited with the 4.7 V8? I've replaced literally the entire AC system except for this, and it'll start out nice and cold when first starting it but after not too long it's just cool. I've had the freon level triple checked and it holds a vac perfectly. so, I'm thinking it's partially plugged. I have health issues that pretty much require me to have fully operational AC, Esp on the 80-95+ days. if I absolutely have to, I'll shell out the $$ for a new one and have it installed (I'm disabled- I have the knowledge, but can't do it physically) by my mechanic. If I need to replace it, I'll order it online as things are SO much more inexpensive than locally and I'll also buy the gauges w/hoses & vacuum pump. That much I know how to do for sure and I can do on my own even with my limitations. but do you think I should attempt flushing it first to see if it makes a huge difference? I love my truck, but being on disability is very tight financially and I don't want to have to unnecessarily replace parts if I can fix them. Your reply/input/advice would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks ever so much!

      Never flush the receiver/drier, accumulator, expansion valves, hoses with mufflers, or compressor. Modern condensers should be replaced and not flushed anymore because of the incredibly small passages contained within them.

    • @StilettoSniper
      @StilettoSniper 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Either one will work for this type of work. Although oil-free compressors typically have much shorter lives than oiled ones. All depends on what you plan on doing with the compressor. I have an oiled Ingersoll-Rand 60 gallon model that has lasted me 27 years and still looks like new, doubt I would have seen that type of life from an oil-free unit.

    • @StilettoSniper
      @StilettoSniper 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@hhelmejor5485 And as I said in my reply, either an oil-free or a oil-sump type compressor will get the job done with regard to flushing.
      But if someone is going to go out and buy a compressor so that they can do things like this, my point is perhaps they might want to buy one that is designed and constructed better, produces less noise and can handle the heat of compression much better. There is no question that a unit that has internal lubrication will excel on all three of those counts.

      TheArfdog I disagree about not needing to flush the line. Even if it was clean, you would not know one way or the other, so it is best to flush it. And besides, if you look at what came out of the line (fluid in the bucket) you see small bits of metal particles. These particles would make their way back to a new compressor and damage it if not flushed out of that line.
