Great pacing throughout the video. Built so much hype for the last lifts. I particularly loved seeing everyones reaction to you easily lifting the onehanded dumbell pickup. Great video and editing!
One minute ago is crazy! Love that you revisited the strong men again. Your first video at the grip strength competition was my introduction to you, and the climbing space on TH-cam. Now I've got the bug and I'm looking for a climbing gym near me.
That is absolutely insane and I think I can speak for all of us who have watched you over the years that We are all proud of you and can't wait to see what happens in the years to come!!!!! Simply amazing 👏 👏 👏
It is always a treat to see how experience in climbing and specific and overall athleticism translate into other sports, especially when represented by some of the best of that world 🙌🏻 ability to compete toe to toe with such formidable athletes in their sport, what a testament to sheer strength and determination
That was a fun watch! I think with a litle deadlift training your grip strength will outshine others. Looked like in some cases that it would have been ok for the grip but legs were not on par. This made the lift take longer or be in akward angle.
@Djellowman no, afterwards he does the same thing again but with right knee - you see his calf contract and knee engage to give that extra bit of power to push it onto the platform
17:25 Yikes, that's a wrong lift if I ever saw one. The fact that it was allowed doesn't say much good about the event. And he did the exact same thing the lift after that, but this time even worse by pushing the dumbbell up with his right knee. I don't know the guy, so I don't know if he's cheating on purpose or if this is just a bad habit he taught himself without noticing, but you're obviously not supposed to use your legs to shove the dumbbell on the platform. It's kinda sad how he took a podium spot from Emil that way.
This was actually discussed before the event and was noted to be allowed to use your legs to push. Since it would be difficult to judge if a lifter is pushing with their legs or not because the size of the implement is quite large and it would be quite difficult for some of the smaller competitors to avoid leg contact. Filip took most advantage of this rule but everyone could if they wanted. Either way you still need to get the dumbbell handle above the edge of the box otherwise pushing it would only push it downwards.
@@err0n That is absolutely ridiculous. Come on, now. If you make up such a weird rule, at least think it over a bit more so it won't be abused/ You can clearly see he uses his right knee to not just push the dumbbell horizontally onto the platform, but he uses it to push it upwards. Just insane.
Emil, serioulsy(and I'm sure I'm not the first one telling you this, someone in your vicinity must have), but you have zero technique in deadlift, so that's most likely what made you fail, not your grip strength. I other words, if this is something you want to do, have several knowledgable people analyze your form from all your lifts and the get to work dude, and you will break records!
17:24 looks like on this attempt and his last he actually supported the weight slightly with his knee as he pushed it onto the box I'd imagine under stricter judging that lift would be disqualified
Insane performance emil. I would love to see you go to quebec and do a collab with Yves Gravelle, I think seeing you attempt his training routine for grip strength would be sick.
@@Dave1507 There's a lot of climbers that come into gripsport and a lot of them are of course very good, but Emil is truly special when it comes to grip.
I've always said how a huge draw to rock climbing is the community, how supportive everyone is of each other even in competitions. Does the heart good to see it in other avenues as well!
Dude, going for a 105 KG single hand lift is INSANE for a squirrel like you (comparably obviously, don't take me seriouisly xD). Might be tiny compared to the other competitors, but that's some serious viking genes in action!
I love when climbers do this. And wish they did it more.. In the right way where it become a official record. Have seen some just breaking them, but it not being official. And that does seems like a bit of a waste.
Having just watched (and congratulated) Pete Whittaker on his new World Record, from me, another World Record holder (with hopefully more to come!) - congratulations!
Hmm beror lite på vart man är, men i dom flesta städerna brukar det finnas lite facebook-grupper med folk som är taggade! Sen finns ofta infon på 27crags.com och efter det behöver du egentligen bara en padda och ett gott humör
so weird... yesterday i watched this video and it had a computer voice as a narrator... nobody in the commets was talking about that and now its emils regular voice hahaha surreal for sure
Looks like Philip used his knee in both the 105kg and the 110. You can even see him lifting his heel to push the weight with the knee. Is that not a disqualification?
Haha ganske lik historie du og jeg, starta med klatring når jeg var 13 år, begynte med håndbak for ett år siden og skal neste år delta i NM i grepsstyrke😂 Nå må du bare begynne med håndbak😂
Being half the weight of these guys and still placing high is insane. See y'all next video for that deadlift WR.
Love that Filip invited you on the podium. So much sportsmanship going on.
12 pull ups at 167 kg is crazy
Insanity
Yep, almost like an invitation to take him climbing? 😁
@durabelle a climbing collab would almost be necessary at this point 😉 and it would be great content as well!
I was about to say, that is unbelievable
dozen and a half - 18 pull ups. even more insane!
“Ultimately I couldn’t get it up”. I feel you bro 😢
I think I speak for many of us when I say that Emil and others videos got me addicted to climbing! Thanks Emil for everything you do.
Yeah same with magnus vids i wasnt fit anymore and lifting weights is boring for me so i started climbing now 1 year in and feel great.
That's really awesome to hear, thanks for the comment
Hilarious that you thought he was complimenting you with "good lift"
Maan I was so damn nervous on the last lifts! These videos are really something special ❤
❤

Thank you and thank you!
Emil is doing sidequests now and literally hanging with giants.

good to see the birkenstocks back in action
Guys get disqualified for less normally

Great storytelling, Emil! Congrats on your results at the comp :)
As a grip enthusiast, Emil’s thick bar strength is absolutely freakish for his weight class. As is his pinch strength.
17:24 he kinda used his knee to help pull the dumbbell up
Yep, "the smallest of margins"
Yeah, but afterwards he did it clean with 5 kg extra so it's fine
@Djellowman no, afterwards he does the same thing again but with right knee - you see his calf contract and knee engage to give that extra bit of power to push it onto the platform
@@elliott9628 it was allowed in the comp to use the knee

He still got 110kg in the end

Fantastic video. Vibes are so good. People trying their hardest and wishing the best for others.
ooooohhhhhhhh yessss, I'm here for this! Who wants to see Emil enter the world's strongest man?
Already waiting for next grip video 💪
Emil, I was watching you back in a days of Erik Karlson, nowadays being involved in oldtime strongman training i'm delighted to watch those videos.
Amazing Emil, well done!
Great video as always!

I noticed that too. I think it shoulda been a DQ.
The original video was incredibly inspiring and I'm happy to see a followup.

Gotta have a grip training arc
Huge props to all you guys that’s crazy grip strength
Mad respect Emil, strong af! 😵
With very little training you win this competition, which is ridiculous! Your grip strength potential is off the charts.
almost as if a decade+ of climbing trains your grip a bit, right?

undoubtedly one of the strongest pound for pound guys out there emil is an absolute beast i cant wait to get that strong and hopefully be in a video 😉
This was a treat to watch!
this new attempt is awesome, emil! great video 👏❤️
Thanks a ton! I appreciate it 🙂
Wauw. Just, wauw... Damn Emil...
Not emil just casually side questing grip strength world records
Looks like Filip pushed the 110 kg at the end over with his right knee and supported the 105 kg with his left knee.
Holy fishsticks! That's seriously impressive! I think you could see massive improvements with technique alone!
Enjoyable watch as always! 😊
congrats emil !!!!! lets go get the wr !!
Nice follow through 💪🏻
That many good pullups at 368lb is actually super impressive
Absolutely amazing 👏

I would have never expected to see someone that big do over 10 pull ups let alone 12 that's insane
I've been following Theodore Mar since he featured in your video from last year! Seems like a great guy.
Mega wholesome guy, trying to plan a trip to Iceland to see him again
wholesome af
6:25 Bro isn't this fucking insane? at 167kg wtf
dude is not human what, was gonna be impressed if he did one
check out Smaev - 130kg guy doing pullup with additional 170 kg :D

armwrestling arc coming maybe??
