And yet with all this bands number one albums many people would still struggle to name the band members. Or people might hear a solo song from Tom Chaplin and say hey that sounds like that guy from Keane.
I've saw Keane live many times. Great live. There are so many good tracks you could check out of theirs. A Bad Dream, Hamburg Song will give you the chills. Crystal Ball, Bedshaped, Sovereign Light Cafe.
Finally a Keane song. A brilliant band with a lead singer who has such a powerful voice. Songs with meaning ‘bad dream’ is my personal favourite.

I have this album and its one of the best albums I have, beautiful voice great writing listen to "the last time"

I just heard this song in its entirety yesterday (I’m 67), having only heard snippets in the backgrounds of TH-cam videos. This is the first time I have listened and not broken down in tears, both because of the sheer passion, and the deep meaning and sense of loss and longing in the song.
This song is such a masterpiece! Never gets old. Next reaction should be Everybody's changing

This song is the best, when my mom died me and my sister played this song over and over, remembering places we went together. This song speaks to grief.
This song, like many of Keane's music, is so deeply nostalgic. Dealing with the feelings many of us experience as we get older - the feeling of being left behind with our desire for simpler times.
So pleased you are finally looking at Keane. One of the most underrated bands of all time in my opinion.
As someone who still struggles with depression and loneliness I’ve always associated the song with the loss of childhood and the desperation to get the feeling of those days of joy and optimism back that inevitably become lost as you enter adulthood.
I felt that way since I was like 12, always knew real life was coming,
Still feel the same 15 years later...

So Phenomenal we actually asked to go and went straight down to the VIP section of the concert because we were only few in the Gen Ad Section, BEST NIGHT OF MY LIFE! Keane are genuinely one of the most human bands around at the moment, the level of humanity in their songs is just so restoring for me, and it puts them above most other acts, for me at least. Shame critics hated them for being too human and “wearing their hearts on their sleeves”. Underrated and under-appreciated band, man!
You should give Is It Any Wonder a listen, that’s a song with ENERGY in spades

Tim Rice-Oxley wrote this song. Its based on the band's difficulties in getting noticed in London. So on the verge of giving up. They all returned back to their home town Battle in Hastings. The song references them going back, visiting all the places they used to play. The result was this masterpiece.
Battle is not in Hastings , its 8 miles outside.

Tom Chaplin - the lead singer, was classically trained as a choir boy whilst at school. His voice is stunning.
Keane are a local band to myself, so when they started to release their songs - it was an enormous sense of local pride that they were so good. I remember listening to the whole album over and over at the time, but for some reason as time goes on I haven't heard this song in ages! I don't know if it is a reflection of the past year or so but I found myself in tears! The power of music! Thank you for this and please add Bedshaped to your Playlist 🥰

Yes, their original album, Hopes and Fears was recorded without using any guitars. It was amazingly produced.
Yea all the bass sounds are synth, the keyboardist is playing 3 keyboards at the same time
@@menamesjames then please educate me. 😊The post said no guitar. I qualify bass as a type of guitar. No? And I truly couldn’t figure out how the sound being produced wasn’t a bass guitar. But looking above at comments, looks like that was coming from synth.
When Lily Allen did a cover of this for the John Lewis Christmas ad a number of years ago I played this to my daughter so she knew where it came from originally.

Yes!!!! Travis are my favourite band. I first saw Keane in their very early days as the support band for Travis in Aberdeen. Really blew me away. Never seen such a great support band since. Just so good even then.

I just saw this reaction of you for the first time. This is my favorite band. I’m in the US. There was that moment where your eyes said it all. You got full on emotional. The melody and words of a simple time took your breath away- this video just made me a subscriber to your Chanel. Loveeeeee that you did this. Very very cool.
Great to see this one! I didn't think I liked "piano rock," but Coldplay and Keane proved me wrong over the years. This is one of Keane's best; they have several other standouts as well. Definitely give "Everybody's Changing" a try - very emotional song.

Yes, Tom Chaplin has a beautiful voice. I think it has actually improved with time, and recent videos show that.The distinctive piano sound is Tim Rice-Oxley playing the fantastic Yamaha CP70 electric grand piano. Bend and Break is another great Keane song. Also, Bedshaped.

He definately has a beautiful voice. I'd recommend Bedshaped, Everybodys Changing or Perfect Symmetry. All great songs with soaring vocals 👍
