According to all known laws of aviation, there is no way a Kirby should be able to fly. It's air ride is too small to get it's fat little body off the ground. The Kirby, of course, flies anyway. Because the Kirby doesn't care what humans think is impossible.

I wish Nintendo would remaster this game and give us online City Trial. Also insane job, I used to rarely come across maps where you would find more than 10 Top Speed stats, they were so rare sometimes.

how did you manipulated the rng? I mean city trial is rng every time, do you have a save file with this exact city trial on queue or did you manipulated the rng somehow? (like at the begining you pressed start and back many times which i think could be it.)
Savestates allow me to try every city and see if it's favorable to start with. I make a savestate after exiting the z menu, as the city changes every time the z menu is brought up

+Christian Padin Yes, I retried until I got the most optimal opening. The purpose is to clear all 120 checkboxes for city trial in as little time as possible, not necessarily one match
Max Musterman Frame by frame inputs to manipulate rng for the most favorable outcome, first the event and then about a 2 second window to manipulate the event items into alls
Thanks! Yep I went through about 60 cities until I got one with an optimal start (has wheelie for compact kill wheelie, jet star for movement, hit CPU in 10 seconds, and 10 items in 20 seconds)
Holy shit, this was insane to watch. I've been looking at KAR runs since SGDQ and this category really appealed to me. To see it destroyed like this even in a TAS is fucking unbelievable. Is 42 checkboxes the most you could feasibly get in one run?
Thanks both of you lol. Yeah, City Trial is by far my favorite mode in the game so I agree with you there, glad you came across this. 120 checkboxes is on the way, yes. To answer your question 42 is not the max. Max checkboxes in one match can be accomplished controlling 4 players, which allows for more items and boxes to be broken in one match, as well as hit checkboxes like 10 firework kos, 3 gordo/sensor bombs, all players get off vehicles simultaneously. I think 48-50 is feasible. I started with cpus to get 2 checkboxes specific to them and then the rest of the matches will be 4 tas players. That's part of the reason why it's taking so long, haha
hi, I was linked here. Just a quick question: someone had said that the program can manipulate RNG. At the beginning, was the resetting of that screen an attempt to cycle through to the best RNG? How does the program determine what the best RNG is? Thanks, awesome video!
Absolutely Not in this case, I manipulated the RNG by hand. Switching in and out of the Z menu at the start is the fastest way to change every rng aspect of the starting city, so after switching the menu 20+ times (while testing each city in between) I finally found a city with the best start for the most guaranteed way to get the most checkboxes
there's a program to look at rng seeds in memory addresses that works with dolphin. I will likely use this when I continue working on this project, but I'm not familiar with it yet, so all of the RNG manipulation in this tas was done through trial and error solely through observation (which is probably not efficient compared to rng addresses)

I mean city trial is rng every time, do you have a save file with this exact city trial on queue or did you manipulated the rng somehow? (like at the begining you pressed start and back many times which i think could be it.)
Savestates allow me to try every city and see if it's favorable to start with. I make a savestate after exiting the z menu, as the city changes every time the z menu is brought up

Thanks! Yep I went through about 60 cities until I got one with an optimal start (has wheelie for compact kill wheelie, jet star for movement, hit CPU in 10 seconds, and 10 items in 20 seconds)

Holy shit, this was insane to watch. I've been looking at KAR runs since SGDQ and this category really appealed to me. To see it destroyed like this even in a TAS is fucking unbelievable. Is 42 checkboxes the most you could feasibly get in one run?
He's eventually going to make a 120-check TAS of this mode; I can't wait to see it when it's finished!

To answer your question 42 is not the max. Max checkboxes in one match can be accomplished controlling 4 players, which allows for more items and boxes to be broken in one match, as well as hit checkboxes like 10 firework kos, 3 gordo/sensor bombs, all players get off vehicles simultaneously. I think 48-50 is feasible. I started with cpus to get 2 checkboxes specific to them and then the rest of the matches will be 4 tas players. That's part of the reason why it's taking so long, haha
Aren't some of the checkboxes ticked by spending time in Free Run, though?
One of the quirks of the final TAS is how to use the five "free" checkboxes. In other words, he's really only getting 115 of them.

Just a quick question: someone had said that the program can manipulate RNG. At the beginning, was the resetting of that screen an attempt to cycle through to the best RNG? How does the program determine what the best RNG is?

Absolutely Not in this case, I manipulated the RNG by hand. Switching in and out of the Z menu at the start is the fastest way to change every rng aspect of the starting city, so after switching the menu 20+ times (while testing each city in between) I finally found a city with the best start for the most guaranteed way to get the most checkboxes
there's a program to look at rng seeds in memory addresses that works with dolphin. I will likely use this when I continue working on this project, but I'm not familiar with it yet, so all of the RNG manipulation in this tas was done through trial and error solely through observation (which is probably not efficient compared to rng addresses)
