    I don't know how many times I watched this already. These guys are so underrated and the drummer is just brilliant but nobody talks about him in the drum community.

      Mostly because drummers tend to not digest electronic hybrid drummers. Its cool to listen to, but live its not as intriguing as a full acoustic kit player from a drummer stand point because its so sample dependent, not organic sounds. I found this looking for jazz music to fall asleep to lol But I can commend the drummer on his timing and fluidity. I do prefer this over the shred drummers that get more attention.

      @@FanaticDrummer 30:10 for me is the slickest moment in drumming I've seen so far like EVER. The guy just casually bends his hi-hat literally mid-song and without missing a single bar kicks in with the dopest fuc*ing "pseudo-reverse" hi-hat action I've heard in live music. And then immediately proceeds with an amazingly pocket groove that both remains on the beat and has this absolutely insane hi-hat work happening.
      Like, I'm geeking over this way too hard but I appreciate this sooo much...

      @@FanaticDrummer So, your comment does spawn a debate, because I struggle with this one as a drummer. If the drummer has produced and sampled precisely the right sound to fit in the pocket of the song rather than confined themselves to the acoustic set, have they really missed the mark or gone the extra mile to nail it? IMO, both deserve respect in their own rights. Even just tonight, I was speaking to a session drummer at a jam session who insisted against JD Beck, one of the greatest young musicians coming up today, because his sound was "too produced". Kind of makes you pause and think about the jazz community's stance against production in general. Is there a point where it's unhealthy?
      All things in moderation, of course. I would be bored out of my mind if all he was playing was a perfect sample pad.

    • @jimmyjam1197
      @jimmyjam1197 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      There is 0 doubt that Jonathan J. Ludvigsen is an absolute beast. Using samples does not make drumming easier or more boring, it actually requires you to be in command of a whole lot more sounds that are now at your disposal. The amount of effort that goes into getting the samples perfect, then incorporating that into a hybrid set up and being able to perform each track note for note from their albums - that’s INSANE! It just goes to show how carefully he wrote the drum parts and how diligently he has committed them to memory. Ludvigsen is unbelievably underrated!

    3pc bands always yield the most comprehensive or creatively rewarding
    music as musicians. Because you’re limitations become your best asset. Less clutter on stage, less players, and layers. Everything sounds so much cleaner and defined. 5 pc bands in todays live music scene just seem to get lost in the mix. And electronic artists make use of hardware/ plugins like compressors and it makes such a difference live. More small bands need to invest in their live rig.
