- Mandrill formed in Brooklyn, New York City in 1968. The original band included three brothers: Carlos Wilson (trombone, percussion, vocals), Lou Wilson (1941-2013) (trumpet, percussion, vocals), and Ric Wilson (sax, percussion, vocals). The Wilson brothers were born in Panama and grew up in the Bedford-Stuyvesant area of Brooklyn. The brothers played music together from childhood, but also led diverse lives. Mandrill’s long standing founder, member, and Harvard College grad, Doctor Ricardo Wilson (known as “Doc Ric”) coupled his musical career with being a Cardiologist and Internal Medicine Specialist. Carlos Wilson, following his service as a Vietnam vet, was also one of the co-founders of Mandrill, bringing his Mannes School of Music writing and arranging skills to the group.
The band's music is a complex mix of Funk, Jazz, Latin, R&B, Rock and Afro-Caribbean sounds. - เพลง

Well stated ma man!
Couldn't agree more, humanity is doing a fence walk as I write this!!!
Imagine Growing Up In Bed Stuy on the Block where they lived and practiced as a Band........I have no words, but a deep seed of music apprciation that cannot be described.
You were blessed 💯
The song -Pease & Love- minute 44-56 might be the most epic song i have ever listened to...🤯🤯🤯✌🏽❤
I remember Neftali when we attended Levitt Jr. High school in Willingboro NJ back in 1967. He played a mean drum even at 13 years old. Mandrill competed with Sly and the Family Stone for Progressive soul funk in 1972 !!!!!!
What a Band ! I heard Fence walk in 72 or 73 as an intro to Mandrill "The Monster"
Started listening to Mandrel in the seventies.
Engineers ❤❤❤❤❤❤ of sound 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
The Best Band
Wow!!!! 😮The French get all of the best musicians!!! Great concert “Mandrill”! I can’t believe how many people watched this video. It should of been more!! I 🥰 💕 “Mandrill” when my sister bought their first album home.

Now, this brings back fond memories of my younger life back in the day!! All hale MANDRILL!!!!!
I actually have a DVD of this concert and used to watch it constantly one of the best ive ever seen
OH, it's on DVD? I'm going to look for this. Thanks for posting!
The 70’s baby!!
These brothers have always been great
You Got To "Hang Loose!" One of my favorite Groups as a Teenager in 1971.
Back in the days when an organ was a significant instrument in a band , that organist can get down !!!!!!!
Definitely one of the finest group of musicians around. Been a big favorite in Jamaica from the 1970'S.
Still sound good
Wow. These guys are just great. I never did see them in concert but I sure missed a lot. I remember when I was still a teenager, I was introduced to "Just Outside of Town, particularly Afrikus Retrospectus". I actually was just revisiting that song and decided to look them up. The internet is just great for looking up bands.
And the band played on 💥♥️👍🔥🤟✌️😎🎶👌. Mucho amor, much love, expression of corazon and strength... that was the sh.. back then... Rock on, bros...🤟💯🤟💯😎
Samuel Aldridge is correct. It wouldn’t be sacrosanct for most young adults not growing up and enjoying music from the 70’s to say they know this group!
What a band
The young generation doesn't know anything about this 🤘mango meat 💥💯
It is real sad they don't have a clue what a note is and what their ears are missing.
Mandrill, very unique and very legendary! The organ, percussion, and horns tho…🔥🔥🔥
Yah, Mon ... Carlos felt that... Peace and love, fam. 💥😎✌️🤟🔥👍♥️
Mandrill ✊🏿✊🏾✊🏽🔥
So smooth. Transitions from song to song - tight.
Thank You! i had so much fun dancing to this set.
Yep ... was at the free outdoor concert where they had Mandrill in 1973 in celebration of WBLS introducing their FM station. They had released "Ape is High" which they performed as their finale ... sounded just like the LP. Back then you could dance with a total stranger ... now they'll look at you like you proposed to them or something ... it was the golden age (not kidding).
Good stuff 👏 👍 this is real music 🎶 man drills is funky
Saw them in NYC back in the day 70s in Central Park New YORK City along with La,Bell and Patty La BELL Mandrill TURN IT OUT
Sensacional
I seen them in concert 1975 Houston Texas they had a different keyboard player
Claude "coffee" Cave was the keiboard player.
That's right!
I first heard of Mandrill around 1976, and they were always head and shoulders above the other popular black music groups of the era. I'm very happy to find this concert!
Respect👍🏾💯🔥
