Manish Pandey is a better batsman than Viv Richards.
In my book, Sir Viv Richards is the greatest cricketer that ever lived. This is the massive SCG. His 6s were pure on a standard narrow bodied light bat. His lofted 4s were perfectly placed bisecting narrow gaps. What a player!
He is right up there no doubt but they are all jostling for 2nd....it's impossible to mount a case that anyone was better than Bradman. He averaged nearly double the second best batsman .

Before I had no. Idea about viv Richards. But after seeing "83" bollywood movie i was thinking y so much hype given to the viv character in that movie.. But after looking at his batting in old videos.. He is simply phenomenonal!! Current cricket is jus overhyped with contrast to the 80 and 90s cricket with that kind of bowling and no helmet and big boundaries simply amazing!!!!

Remember how bad bats were in those days. Thin, heavily pressed (so every big hit rang in your fingers). Richards had a huge bat, but if he had a modern day bat of the same weight he'd have scored a hell of a lot more boundaries.
What a beautiful batsman he was! No one can stop him on his day and the best thing about him that he was very consistent. Really a cricketing legend.

Viv was already towards the end of his career when I started following cricket, the only memory I have of him as kid is the sound coming off of his bat when he was smashing the bowlers from every team.

I remember this game. It was the decider for the ODI series that Summer. Australia got a fantastic score of 226 in a reduced 38 overs. It rained more during the innings change and West Indies got set an absurd revised target of only 111 in 18 overs! Same run rate but half the overs!! There was no Duckworth/Lewis System adjustment in those days. Sydney rain and stupid rules spoiled what was going to be a fantastic deciding game. If you see the look on Steve Waugh’s face he was pissed off at the stupidity and unfairness of the situation.

Another thing I loved about Viv. I hate the tolerance given to head-hunting in cricket, but his reactions were so fast that he just hooked head-high balls for 6. I live in the USA, where head-hunting in baseball is really frowned on, and could lead to ejection of a pitcher.
