    Backfires can damage the power valve inside the carburetor. I don't know if that would lead to the power loss you're describing but it may be a start. Btw, There's not nearly enough old Dodge pickups on the road. Glad you're giving this one a shot.

    The yellow chainsaw is burning bar oil...the automatic oiler pump has a gasket that leaks, letting bar oil flow right into the crankcase

    • @ThisNThatGarage
      @ThisNThatGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's not an automatic oiler and unless the case is cracked bar oil aint getting in the crankcase. The fuel line was melted and has most likely stopped up the carb. Look for a video on it soon.

Before he ever got it running, he gave up and it got sold!! Last year I made the mistake of buying a 2005 Dodge K3500 Cummins. I drove it home but have never been able to get it on the road due to electrical gremlins!!!

    Love the channel and love your content! You work on everything and I learn a lot, so I thought I may share some tips. I worked for a tree service and when handling a job like that pull the tractor or a truck, something heavier than the limb lol. Rope off the fallen limb, not lift off to remove but to clear obstacle and support weight. Rope off with limbs equal or bigger. Before dropping to the ground if you want to clear limbs support limbs will kill you if not dealt with trees cannot be predicted to 100%, so please take caution. We would go around and kick limbs and cut into sections to control fall to the ground. Just some tips I know your no beginner just throwing in my two cents again love the channel!

    When you are trying to reshape any metal that has been stretched opposite of the original contour....
    You need to stretch past that line/ past the original shape. It will recoil on you.
    In other words... over stretch it in the opposite direction. Every time you lifted the roofline, you stopped just when it lifted to the height of the rest of the roof. You gotta keep going so when it is released, it will only drop down to the original height.
    Over stretch to reshape.

    Try taking the Marker Lights Off and going in the Roof that way, you will be able to get between the 2 layers of the Roof!

    I think those have 2 skins on the roof so you have to peel the top one off and do em separate also imagine the metal is wrinkled paper and how you wanna get it smoothed out flat

    It makes me feel good that I'm not the only one to have that kind of luck. Looks like a day out of my life! That old McCullough saw looks like it'll work good for smoking out the skeeters! Seriously, the McCullough, Lombard, and Pioneer saws need to go to the antique shelf. The Poulan is a throw-a-way that you buy new for a job and throw it away when your done. Buy a Stihl or Husky and you'll get some.good service from it. Of course the lousy gas we get these days will screw up even the best running engines!

      Nothing wrong with those saws. The older the better is what we like around here.

      @@ThisNThatGarage LOL! With the vast majority of equipment I'm in total agreement- "the older the better", but when it comes to chainsaws, I could never get those carbs rebuilt and happy! Of course you are a far more skilled mechanic than I and I salute you for it!
      Keep the videos coming!
      Thanks

    Never park something you care about under a tree...unless you have full-coverage insurance. Make sure that gasket fence is straight before you put the replacement glass in...lol.
