    Great job! I’ve had white walls on my VW and El Camino. It’s not for everyone but most ppl appreciate it and gave me props for keeping my car original. Great lesson and I’ll be doing this on a wall hangin’ VW wheel for my garage. Thanks for the lesson.

    A true artist indeed! I have known guys that have painted rims to use Crisco as a masking agent to protect the rubber from overspray. Seems like it would be messy to clean up! I usually use a contractor bag to cover my wheels, turn them inside out when done and load it up with trash.

    Great & thorough video. I wonder if you mentioned the time between coats ? I imagine the 1st coat gets cured (drys) harder than the last. I wonder how long between coats would defeat the pulling of the tape while "still wet" , which I understand is much easier and less risk for pealing paint line ??
    Thanks for your generous consideration,
    Sincerely .................

    • @soberingrestorationservices
      @soberingrestorationservices  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Dave, as long as you let it cure for a good 48 hours before putting any weight on it it seems to hold up a lot better, it may not even take that long but that's what I chose to do just to make sure. Been driving it for over a month and there's been no cracking whatsoever. Thanks for watching.

    How long did the paint job last?
    With these homemade spray jobs, I'm concerned you're going to have to scrub the white walls to keep them clean and white, which is going to be a bit of abrasion on your paint job and make it start to flake or peel off eventually. If you never had to clean them, okay, it might last longer... but... being white and all, and on the tire which is right down near the dirt and ocassional mud or mud puddle...

    We don't have tremclad here in USA, but do have Rust-Oleum, which I believe owns the tremclad rights in Canada. I like to try this for my Caddy. Is that tremclad rust primer an oil based paint? Trying to figure out what (if any) exact equivalent we would have here in US. Your wide whites look great!

    • @soberingrestorationservices

    I made white wall tires by purchasing portawalls and putting them on a set of new tires for my retro camper. A set of 4 costs me less than $20.00 2 years ago. May be higher now but much easier to do than this method. Just making a suggestion.
