First one here this morning...and I NEED this one.. been a hard week. I was crying 15 seconds in..LOL!! I don't go to church anymore..hard to find a GOOD one you can trust...but I pray and I thank God everyday. The best part of growing up in a southern backwoods Baptist church was music like this...and I have always loved it. I'm a 57 year old grandma with a beat up body...it's hard to go from one room to the other thanks to YEARS of working like a man to raise 3 kids alone...but y'all had me "attempting" to move this morning!! THANK Y'ALL! And YES...Rosanne Cash IS Johnny Cash's daughter.

This song still brings me to tears and its been 40 years since my Mother passed away at age 48 with Leukemia. This song breaks me every time. Thanks for playing this song. I was flooded with a lot of good memories and of course sad ones because of Momma's death. Beautiful song!
I had this cassette album playing in my car player for years.

That old church piano knocks the rust off your soul. Another Country gospel favorite of mine is Willie Nelson's 'Uncloudy Day.'
The 'Mother Maybelle' the boys in the Nitty Gritty dirt band are singing about is 'Mother' Maybelle Carter, a highly-respected figure in Country, Gospel and Bluegrass with the Carter Family from the 1920s to the 1940s. She is also the mother of Johnny Cash's wife, June Carter-Cash.

I love this song though it makes me cry every time.
This was part of the collaboration called Will Tge Circle Be Unbroken part 2, or Circle 2. Circle one was Nitty Gritty Dirt Band's tribute to Bluegrass music and it has many Legends of Bluegrass music, such as Jimmy Martin, Merle Travis, Doc Watson, Earl Scruggs, and Johnny Cash's Mother in Law Mother Maybelle Carter from the Carter Family. All of the songs were recorded in a living room environment while just sitting around jamming. When Circle 2 came out, It still had some legends of Bluegrass like Jimmy Martin, and Earl Scruggs and Classic Country legend Roy Acuff, but it also had other artists from other genres such as John Hiat from Pop/R&B, Rosanne Cash from Country, John Denver, Emmylou Harris, Johnny and June Carter Cash, John Prine, Michael Martin Murphy, The New Grass Revival(Sam Bush,Bela Fleck,Pat Flynn, and John I can't remember his last name playing the bass) Mark OConner and Jerry Douglas and Roy Huskee Jr played on every track fiddle,Dobro,and Bass. Just an amazing collaboration!

You know I know the song to make the rounds or circle of reactors but I haven't watch many reactions in a while and I come across this and you guys might be the first Perth and the react to this which is of fantastic compilation of extraordinary artist many of whom have long gone on. And some not that long ago.
That is a very old song that has been a staple for country music. When mother Mabel Carter an the Carter family sang that years ago back in early 1900.

Wow, never heard this version...just beautifully done. (My favorite was by Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins & Jerry Lee Lewis but this is gooooood) --you're spot on Shawn, we all are headed that way. We get to choose where we'll spend eternity. Thank you for doing this. If you're inclined, I highly recommend "I am a Pilgrim" by Tennessee Ernie Ford....fantastic song.

This is a song I grew up with and one of the first songs I memorized as a kid. The legendary Carter Family, Johnny Cash's wife June Carter's family, were the first record it. Love this video with all the true legends of country, blue grass, gospel, southern, and even rock music. Johnny Cash also did a song called "Daddy Sang Bass" that refers to this song in the chorus. I do recommend it. It's also I song I want played at my funeral.
You should also listen to Dolly Parton and friends at the acms it's a live version it's amazing. And you should also listen to Dolly Parton's he's alive. That's an absolutely perfect song.
