    Thanks for this video! I’m glad to see that I wasn’t losing my marbles when the popup drain mechanism doesn’t rest all the way at the bottom of the sink when it’s in the plugged position. I totally thought I was doing something wrong.

      Same here, I really dislike how high it sits when non-popped up also. Oh well, it seems to work.

    Nice video. It helped me realize I threw away the gasket on the old metal pipe coming down, was wondering how there would be no leak. This explained my error.

    Love the putty route!

    Great insight I think I’m gonna take mine out and re-do it with the pipe dope to make it a better seal that plastic does seem like it’s leaking just a tiny bit without it

      I just put mine in and I did just putty instead of the seal for the drain but I’m questioning the same thing as far as just coating the threads on the bottom with pipe dope as well.

      I took mine out to see why it is was draining slow and found out the top piece screws off, yay for the future, I came to this video and saw the putty instead of using the gasket, I did observe while taking it out a slight drip. That caused me worry so I asked my neighbors on Facebook, there are such wonderful people, alway someone has just what you need. 😊 ty

    Wow you know your stuff! Thats definitely not the first time you've grabbed an unfamiliar thick white tube through a hole in the wall and stroked it vigorously. 🤠

    I haven’t replaced a bath faucet in 25 years. When looked at this pop-up drain I said “what sorcery is this?“. You mentioned you don’t like this type of drain. What particular problems have you seen with pop-up drains? Thought I ask before I actually install this puppy and regret it later. Thanks for the tips!

    I was looking for help with the gap, when the popup is up/open so small earrings or their backs can't fall in. What about the access putty that's showing?
    Thanks for the video!

    Would Teflon tape work instead of pipe dope on the threads?

    The putty and pipe dope did the trick. Mine drain leaked with the gasket that was provided

    Great video! What kind of putty? Any Basic plumbing putty? Or epoxy putty?

    • @Trustthyplumber
      @Trustthyplumber  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it doesn’t matter as long as it is plumbers putty and meant for plumbing fixtures .

    Can you help me? I am in Israel, all my faucets are from Moen, I bought them online. The pipes they use here are 1/2 inch (the wall one) and the supply lines seem 1/4 inch, trying to get one but can't find it. all seem 3/8''

    • @Trustthyplumber
      @Trustthyplumber  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They do make adapters to go from one to the other. I’m not sure what it’s like of similarity from here. But if you are able to take a picture and go to your nearest plumbing warehouse and you should be able to get all the help you need there!

    I have the same faucet. Water is leaking from the under side. Where the thick rubber gasket is located. any suggestions?

    • @Trustthyplumber
      @Trustthyplumber  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Now in a case like that , depending how old the faucet is . There are usually copper or brass components in the faucet. That you cannot get to or repair . If leaking from the bottom and it’s coming from the housing of the faucet . Most likely if it’s new , could be faulty . If it’s old could just be from wear and tear

    7:45 Is there anyway to adjust the height when it's not popped up? Dang it sits pretty high compared to normal drains.

    • @Trustthyplumber
      @Trustthyplumber  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      From not looking at it . I’m guessing the product you are using is moen kinda like the one in the video . Some pop ups have plastic threads on the top part of the plug . Some of them do unscrew and or tighten for the perfect fit . Hope this helps. Sorry if it wasn’t . It’s just very hard to tell without seeing the product or piece you are referring too

    • @Passions
      @Passions 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Trustthyplumber Yeah I have the exact same one as your video and the height is exactly the same at 7:45. Just very unusual compared to other popup drains. It works fine, but I might give Moen a call to see if I can adjust the height. Thanks for the video, it helped me during my install! 👊

    Can you use the gasket they provided and putty at the top of the drain?

    • @Trustthyplumber
      @Trustthyplumber  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Wouldn’t recommend using the cheap gasket they provide for the top. Tends to leak or swell up over time and cause a leak. Always use puddy for the top lip of the drain
