You’re amazing
The putty and pipe dope did the trick. Mine drain leaked with the gasket that was provided
Thank you for your video!! Was able to replace my drain with you guidance of making a custom part.
Would Teflon tape work instead of pipe dope on the threads?
I was looking for help with the gap, when the popup is up/open so small earrings or their backs can't fall in. What about the access putty that's showing? Thanks for the video!
Up for debate. Not a know it all. But I had one “call back” on a pop up years ago with a pop up using putty and dope. I use silicone 2 on both top and bottom. And discard the top washer (if it comes with one) Have not had a call back on a pop up in over a decade.
No love the comment , that’s just the way I’ve done it for years never had anyone call back on em ! Appreciate your comment !
wow cool video
Thank you so much! Please share with your friends !

Sure, on a concrete slab, it's not too hard but there are times when those bowl anchor bolts either just turn and turn or break off. Then, if it's on a wood floor, I've found the wood around the toilet rotten or so rotten that the toilet is about to fall thru meaning that now you have to do some carpentry and fix the sub floor. I hope you don't ever run into the situation I had one time where I was just going to replace the leaking tank bolts because they were originally NOT installed correctly. When I stooped down to turn off the water at the H2O inlet, the entire valve came off in my hand and water was shooting out of the wall due to the fact that whatever monkey originally installed this toilet never soldered the copper pipe correctly and the entire thing broke at where the valve pipe connected to the "el" in the wall. This should have been a 30 minute job and ended up being 6 hours with a come back to finish the drywall around the valve pipe in the wall. The house this toilet was in also had other problems like a hallway bedroom door that kept closing on its own. come to find out that the entire hallway wall was out of plumb.
Good to know guys like you still believe in doing the right thing and provide excellent customer service. Well done, Sir.
Moen gaskets work perfect.
Thank you very very much, your in-depth information is priceless"
Excellent thanks!
thank yo very informative
This demo was really useful and was very informative. Thanks.
What is the thing that you used to paint the drain?
Pipe Thread Sealent , they sell it at any hardware store
Where is this like under a street??
Laundry Matt
My threads are below the gasket and this sob is leaking. I've just had it
I haven’t replaced a bath faucet in 25 years. When looked at this pop-up drain I said “what sorcery is this?“. You mentioned you don’t like this type of drain. What particular problems have you seen with pop-up drains? Thought I ask before I actually install this puppy and regret it later. Thanks for the tips!
Wow coconut
wow u truly inspired me to be a plumber one day11!
I'm happy for you. its definitely worth trying out! kinda gross... kinda fun lol
Nice video. It helped me realize I threw away the gasket on the old metal pipe coming down, was wondering how there would be no leak. This explained my error.
....and you did it all alone....? ....all by yourself.....?
We did exactly what you did and the drain still dont drain
Great insight I think I’m gonna take mine out and re-do it with the pipe dope to make it a better seal that plastic does seem like it’s leaking just a tiny bit without it
I just put mine in and I did just putty instead of the seal for the drain but I’m questioning the same thing as far as just coating the threads on the bottom with pipe dope as well.
I took mine out to see why it is was draining slow and found out the top piece screws off, yay for the future, I came to this video and saw the putty instead of using the gasket, I did observe while taking it out a slight drip. That caused me worry so I asked my neighbors on Facebook, there are such wonderful people, alway someone has just what you need. 😊 ty
Wow you know your stuff! Thats definitely not the first time you've grabbed an unfamiliar thick white tube through a hole in the wall and stroked it vigorously. 🤠
7:45 Is there anyway to adjust the height when it's not popped up? Dang it sits pretty high compared to normal drains.
From not looking at it . I’m guessing the product you are using is moen kinda like the one in the video . Some pop ups have plastic threads on the top part of the plug . Some of them do unscrew and or tighten for the perfect fit . Hope this helps. Sorry if it wasn’t . It’s just very hard to tell without seeing the product or piece you are referring too
@@Trustthyplumber Yeah I have the exact same one as your video and the height is exactly the same at 7:45. Just very unusual compared to other popup drains. It works fine, but I might give Moen a call to see if I can adjust the height. Thanks for the video, it helped me during my install! 👊
Awesome...... Great help. Just subscribed !!!! 👍👍👍
Thanks for this video. Great advice for a rookie like myself
I have the same faucet. Water is leaking from the under side. Where the thick rubber gasket is located. any suggestions?
Now in a case like that , depending how old the faucet is . There are usually copper or brass components in the faucet. That you cannot get to or repair . If leaking from the bottom and it’s coming from the housing of the faucet . Most likely if it’s new , could be faulty . If it’s old could just be from wear and tear
Can you help me? I am in Israel, all my faucets are from Moen, I bought them online. The pipes they use here are 1/2 inch (the wall one) and the supply lines seem 1/4 inch, trying to get one but can't find it. all seem 3/8''
They do make adapters to go from one to the other. I’m not sure what it’s like of similarity from here. But if you are able to take a picture and go to your nearest plumbing warehouse and you should be able to get all the help you need there!
I bought the putty from Oatey and it says to not use on plastic? Any insight as to why they say not to use it on plastic?
No but always used it . Never had an issue.
Great video! What kind of putty? Any Basic plumbing putty? Or epoxy putty?
Yes it doesn’t matter as long as it is plumbers putty and meant for plumbing fixtures .
@@Trustthyplumber great thx!
Love the putty route!
Thanks for this video! I’m glad to see that I wasn’t losing my marbles when the popup drain mechanism doesn’t rest all the way at the bottom of the sink when it’s in the plugged position. I totally thought I was doing something wrong.
Same here, I really dislike how high it sits when non-popped up also. Oh well, it seems to work.
Can you use the gasket they provided and putty at the top of the drain?
Wouldn’t recommend using the cheap gasket they provide for the top. Tends to leak or swell up over time and cause a leak. Always use puddy for the top lip of the drain
No cleaner before the cement?
Not on trim outs
Nice work. 👍
go out and get some pearl redfish magic jig heads made by strike king and put a pearl DOA cal paddle tail on it. redfish for days
I live in Houston Texas I see people catching red fish in kayaks with a baitcaster and braided line with lures ! can someone please tell me witch is the best lure period ! for red fish ! and were can you find red fish and what time ? some one please answer me
You find red fish in saltwater rivers (or brackish), when the sun is brightest you catch them a lot.
Thanks for the clip I am fishing in a local tournament for trout and redfish in Panama City / Panama City Beach, Florida. I will fill you in on how we do. It is called The Cove Boys trout tournament and it is getting bigger every year. It is awesome and we hope to win it this year! FYI: All the research I have done on lures for trout and redfish have all come to the same point of having a root beer colored lure to attract these species of fish. Thanks again, Chip Seal.
Clear Water use natural fish like colors. Plain colors. most of the ones are mostly used for cloudy waters or brakish
