My takes: Ward and Scar endings are two sides of the same coin, both might seem good, but are bad when it comes down to it. With Scar, your mind is tricked into happiness, like from a drug or a weird cult. With ward it's kind of implied that they now have access to the noosphere and are able to monitor human minds and later possibly control them, hence the "giving the people happiness". Strelok meanwhile freezes that status-quo - humanity will now neither benefit nor will have to fear the zone. All the brainwashed monolithians remain brainwashed, anyone who is trapped remains trapped. Skif ending is cannon IMO, as the ending leaves us with the situation that we saw in the "Roadside Picnic" books the games are based on - a number of zones exist all around the world. We do not know if they are as dangerous as this one as its implied that the hostility came from the zone being born into a horrible experiment and might or might not change once it is free.
There is no best ending in that game imo, there are better or worse. 1.Ward Ending - You can say it's good ending, but just for Skif(I guess becuase of what we saw in the end). Ward did a typical goverment and military thing, Control. They took full control of the Zone and for sure gonna use it for the military improvement and to try taking control of the world later on, the classic. They let Skif go becuase he was too dangerous to go against him, but they can oberve him now. 2.Strelok Ending - It's kind of neutral ending and probably true ending considering who he is, when Strelok want Zone to be as it is, but did big restrictions where u can't leave or enter the zone or u will be instantly killed. I don't really get what is his main purpose and motivation, he seems crazy guy too and looks like thinking that Zone is his love/mother. I need to play first stalkers to get more informations about his character. Also that last walk of Skif was confusing too. 3.Scar Ending - Nothing to say lol, fake world ending, the guy was so chill that he created the matrix for Skif and others(?). Really boring tbh. 4.Skif Ending - Worst ending of them all for sure, easy to say it's bad ending, he turned whole globe into the Zone and wtf for what? Well it was planned and manipulated by the Faust as well because that scene when Doctor turned to Faust was crazy plot twist. Sad there is no ending that ends it all, like the ending when u can destroy the Zone and leave/die. That would've been the best ending of them all. Ngl the game story only getting better later on, but i heard in other stalkers it was the same. At start it's kinda boring, later after you first time meet Dalin and Korshunov it's getting interesting and later even more ofc. Sadly the game has a lot of technical problems and they need a lot of time to fix it. That game has tons of potential to be really good if they gonna fix it all and modders will make it even better.
I consider Strelok's ending to be the best/true ending, but honestly, his motivation makes no sense. In the last Stalker game, he wanted to end the Zone, and it is not really explained why he changed his mind so radically. Btw, I don't think he'll keep everyone in permanently, since him sparing Skif shows that he's willing to prevent unnecessary human casualties. I can imagine that he will at some point allow people to leave the Zone, but their days of exploiting it are over.
@primkup It's really weird then, I need to play previous stalkers fully to get whole story. Maybe they did it because DLC gonna play after that ending? Or just did it because its Strelok and it's play on popularity.

In SoC he had amnesia and couldn't remember anything only knowing that answers were within CNPP which at the end he goes against C-con either due to not agreeing with the whole controlling humanity thing or for what they did to him, most likely both. CS is a prequal where he simply wants to go to the center to see if the wish granter is true and that he is an adventures young lad. CoP he doesn't know what his actions really did in the grand scheme of things so he complies with military to have more resources and understand the zone and what really happened more. Strelok always nervous and anxious never knowing whats true and looking for answers. Scar the mostly silent no emotion mercenary that simply does what he does to stay alive. Welp, all endings are sad, some are just worse than other, but Strelok does seems to be the neutral one The Ward one you just replace C.Conciousness with another group and the cycle repeats Scar just made everyone feels happy, the reality still the same or worse Skiffs(Faust Ending), my man got fooled by the Monolith and turned every part of the world into the zone... The Ward ending looks like a good ending but it's not. They're a private military faction so i'm sure they gonna use the power of the zone for the evil and take control of the world in a few years of research.
when finishing the game , you are inside of the sarcophagus (with strelok atleast) where you clean up allot of the monolithians and scar , so yes and no? its like maybe an hour or two of game play
yes, like that they explain in story line what you see by wish granter is illusion. it is what you want to see but not what become of it world will still be the world only you who will lose in sweet illusion Scar ending is really depressing

Ending 1 is good, ending 2 is bad, ending 3 is true and ending 4 is secret. Just like in the title.
