As a PJ veteran, I’ll be upfront - Amcorp Mall isn't for everyone. It’s not a hotspot for youngsters, especially those looking to go on dates. Nor will you see large families or groups gathering to indulge in meals or explore trendy shops. What Amcorp does offer is a laid-back atmosphere, perfect for quiet meet-ups. It may not be the most vibrant mall, but it’s got just the right mix of stores for everyday shopping needs. Personally, I enjoy visiting Amcorp on weekdays. It’s always so peaceful. With NSK and MR DIY both there, I can pretty much get everything I need in one place. And let’s not forget Pos Malaysia, which is one of the least crowded branches I’ve ever visited. Amcorp Mall has its own charm. It might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but for those of us who know what it offers, it provides an experience that modern malls often can’t match.
Exactly. Amcorp has its own loyal patrons, though it often gets a bad rap for being dull and uninspiring. The truth is, Amcorp was never designed to be "lively and exciting". It's a community mall, built for everyday activities and the needs of local residents.
The only mall that I’d visit every time I’m in KL, a mall like no other, it has a special place in my heart. It’s an LRT station away from my teacher training college, a mall that I visited almost every week when I was there studying from 2010 to 2015. Book Xcess? My fav! Used to have McD in front of Book Xcess. Creativ- i printing? Still there but diff floor now. Sunny Luggage? Legend! Before NSK, it was Giant. Restoren Kapitan has the best nasi ayam, still there. Flea market every weekend wowow. Secret Recipe, used to work part-time as a barista. Opposite to it was Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, them Gloria Jean’s coffee now MyNews. Subway? Was there during my time. Camera shop, a legend shop. What else? Adoiii so many memories… will definitely visit Amcorp Mall again. Sending love from Mukah, Sarawak…
Amcorp may look dead during weekdays but comes alive on weekends due to its unique attraction to hobbyist, collectors n flea market. The camera shop, the record/music shop n countless toy shops are among its attractions. Not forgetting the first Bookxcess shop is located there. Surely it will live longer than say 3Damansara or Atria.
Love this mall especially their flea market. They will survive since they cater to a niche market. Hobbyists, collectors, antiques, toys, hifi, arts, etc.
@chestercheng.realestate absolutely. Foot traffic admittedly does not look great. But when people go there they go to buy. You don't go to Amcorp for window shopping cuz there's nothing to see except when the flea market is on. You go cuz you need something and you probably can't find it elsewhere

I’ve been going to Amcorp Mall for 10 years and one of the best things about this mall is the indoor flea market and the BookXCess. I like to buy comic books & graphic novels at there.
Amcorp Mall used to be my go-to place back in my school days. Even by then, on weekdays, the foot traffic is just so-so. But, it's the weekends where they increased significantly. It kinda make sense since the flea markets are only operated on weekends.
Amcorp mall is bustling during the weekends as most collectors only open their shop or stall on the weekend. This is probably the only place in Malaysia where you can find DVDs, VCDs, Vinyls, retro toys and games. J One Camera is also worth a visit if you're a photography enthusiast like me. The only thing I don't like about the mall is the parking. The parking rates are ridiculous.
As a PJ born and bred & long time citizen I personally feel this mall will survive for a good number of years because it continues to offer niche products and services that appeal to particular groups of people like hobby collectors, vintage shoppers and old timers. In a nutshell it offers something that most bigger and newer malls do not.
This was my hangout place in the evening during uni, after a day at Sg Wang Plaza. Used to spend a few hours sitting at Restoran Kapitan (chicken rice place). Nowadays I go to Family Mart when I need to get some work done (not a cafe kind of person). Family Mart there is usually it's full of students from Catholic High School (no hate, I wish we had konbinis when I was in school!!). But ya, it's always been a mostly dead mall since back of the day, except for when the flea market opens on the weekend.
@chestercheng.realestate good suggestion here, hope it can attract more people, as it only becomes lively during weekends. I agree that parking is an issue, for me I prefer to park outside or at the A&W.
Amcorp Mall is the Nakano Broadway of KV. If they could bring in those vintage watch shops at Berjaya Times Square they'd be able to bring in more high spenders.
Weekend is when this mall comes alive! Those stores that you saw were closed only open on weekends. The outdoor carpark is damn expensive...RM5 per hour coupla years ago if i remember correctly. Basement carpark really is too dark but is a lot cheaper. I'm a lady driver and it's not too narrow for me. Wira's not big. I went round and round looking for a parking spot on weekends when it was really crowded and didn't think the size was a problem at all. Come to Plaza Dwitasik (office building) in Bandar Sri Permaisuri and you'll know what is narrow. Even though it's a small building, going from carpark to the lift is like a maze, makes no sense at all. They should sack the architect.
foot traffic there is definitely better on the weekends .probably due to the flea market which has stalls spread out over most of the floors .some of the shops only open during the weekend , i guess due to more traffic during the flea market .the place has change alot though i remember there used to be a Chinese restaurant near the pos malaysia outlet (i i remember properly ) and some sort of western style cafe with live music or something at the basement area with the foodcourt and a mcd in the upper floors ..one thing though the parking at the outdoor carpark is expensive , and full of potholes ....
Amcorp mall will survive , it has been like this since 2002 🤣🙈 it’s special USP is it’s niche hobby shops , ad hoc quiet atmosphere, and it’s famous flea market during the weekend. And the Korean restaurant at the 3rd floor is good.
It can be boring on the week days. Retailers complain that foot fall is not enough on week days. The lifts also need to be better maintained. Amcorp mall is not bustling like a few years ago when Popular book store, Romantika, and afew other interesting retailers were here. This place needs a revamp to bring it back to its heydsys. Perhaps Amcorp coperation and the new management could look into it.
Used to be my favourite mall to go to Book excess to buy books. However the mall is getting worsen after pendamic. I will still go to this mall whenever I pass by
Just like the good old days when A&W was there and couples used to take a stroll at Lake garden, then adjourned to the mall for shopping. I guessed it is still a popular mall to go with all the hobby shops around. It used to be a good nice quiet place away from the bustle of the city to spend the day with your friends there.
