I literally just saw an extremely similar case where the judge stated that the contract of the landscaper was with the homeowner and not the neighbor so the owner of the house with the landscaping contract was liable for the damages and repair
I saw that one too. I'm guessing the difference is that in that other case there was actual damage to the neighbor's car. In this case, she didn't really prove any damages except that the caps were separated. But, yeah, the Judge did say that in that other case.

In truth she could have said, yes, there’s damage; yes, the neighbor is responsible; and I therefore award you one dollar as your compensation.
