To me, Sandy Peterson will always be " that guy who misspelled my name in the special thanks section of his board game." Because he did. I played a game of it with him when he took it to an LGS I frequented back in Texas, he took my name down so I would be credited in the special thanks section as a play tester, and he got it wrong. And that is my Doom adjacent story.
I guess I missed the boat giving you my own half-hearted "akshually," but I distinctly remember reading something from a reliable and convincing source (maybe could have been a Romero tweet or one of those Doom development talks he gives, or maybe just some really hardcore trivia nerding on doomworld like 10 or 15 years ago, or the talk page of a wiki or some such) that .WAD was actually backronym--that is to say the format and its extension were named as such simply as a fitting time for a "collection of lumps," and the marginally clever acronym was thought up after the fact. The most trivial trivia ever, and simply based on the memory of some guy who is now far too depressed and drunk to actually try to look it up...
I find it heartening for the future and amusing that you described yourself quasi-apollogetically as a Zoomer Doomer especially in that specific context. I'm like a fucking old man just sitting around waiting to die, but even I was relatively late to the party. Had to work my ass off to afford SNES Doom as a kid and just sit in school fantasizing about what the other sides of the monsters would look like in motion... Then when I finally grew up and built my PC I basically did nothing but play vanilla Doom like 10 hours a day and eventually shut myself in to make heavily scripted mods and shit... Anyway point of the story with no one asked to hear but which I will leave here for my non-existent posterity, there was one instance where I had been playing Doom so much that I was driving my vehicle through a parking lot the exit from which basically involved driving under a giant billboard, and I literally slammed on the brakes right before I crossed the threshold between the giant telephone-pole size columns because my brain had internalized the idea that you can't drive over or under things. For an instant I had internalized the logic of 2.5d an infinite height monsters into the real world. So yeah running across a sea of heads in nuts for the first time did feel a bit... off.
@@EnvyOmicron Thanks. A little mini-diary but it's cool how like only a few people in the world can actually make sense of the insane idea of "i somehow though you can't drive under signs because 2.5d Doom infected my brain" and one of them actually took the time to read it lol
I just want to point out American McGee does in fact have a twitter and he spends it mostly sharing alice art and talking about his life sometimes
I dunno. He seems like a douche and I'm not taking it back until we get the new Alice.

Really great to see this video highlighting the good comments instead of fighting with the audience. Also, cool vid.
im glad youre still uploading.
woah congrats on 10k! great video as well
I am your 2% female audience. I would also be watching Beavis and Butthead.
People that hate Beavis and Butthead are those who are too weak to admit that, yes, loud and poop jokes are indeed funny
Are you actually a woman or larping as one, though?
Congrats on the 10k!
Didn't expect my comment to get read, lol. Congrats on 10k.

That's legitimately hilarious lmao
