I've watched a couple other reactions to this movie, but Kim was the first to say, "I'd poison their food." (referring to the corrupt cops). I laughed out loud. Kim is so sweet I was just surprised at her comment. 🙂
The Equalizer 2 is good as well but I personally can’t wait until you all react to Equalizer 3. Next level!!! Great movie!!!! Robert is so brutal in that movie that you will question if he’s the actual villain. Excellent conclusions of the series.

There was a tv series on CBS called "The Equalizer" back in the 1980's which starred Edward Woodward - and like many action adventure shows of the time period, he was a former "special operative" with the government who struck out on his own to provide a service to people in need through a mysterious classified ad in the local papers.
"Got a problem? Odds against you? Call the Equalizer"
Most of the people he went up against were small time criminals or people who had never had anyone (of competent skill) go up against them... these criminals (bullies) relied upon fear and intimidation to push people around - sometimes they were outright criminals... sometimes corrupt people in power ... but McCall would not be intimidated and showed no fear. He acted with precision and violence in a way that the criminals were not used to... and saved the day.
Sort of like many of the "operating above the law" type heroes of that era ... The Equalizer ... The A-Team ... various Private Detective/Private Eye type heroes on TV at the time.
Denzel's character took some of those elements and also wrote in some OCD compulsions ... and made three films in this series. Queen Latifah has been cast in a re-boot of the tv show still currently on the air on CBS / Paramount+ (as of April 2024)
This is a great film that is based on the 1980's tv show of the same name that starred Edward Woodward as Robert McCall.

Robert McCall in this version is a former MARSOC (Marine Special Operations) turned ISA (that is like CIA Special Operators) who faked his death to leave that life behind to honor his wife's dying wish. When your body is stressed, it goes into flight or fight mode. high levels of cortisol and adrenaline are released into the blood stream causing you to perceive time as slowing down. This is really your brain processing sensory input faster. With the right training and experience you cannot just react faster but think in a controlled manner. This is what the camera is trying to explain quickly. Honey has antimicrobial healing properties and has been used for thousands of years for healing.

Classic TV series becoming films or film franchises and actually being successful is a rarity.
One is Mission:Impossible and the other is The Equalizer.
One individual to even up the odds for the innocent.
Bringing the pain to the bad guys that deserve it.
I loved the classic tv series (1985-1989) since childhood with the late Golden Globe winner, Edward Woodward.
It was revamped into a new original series with Queen Latifah as Robyn McCall/co-producer (since 2021, 3 seasons).
To have this great actor/filmmaker collaboration make something like this is very rare.
Denzel as McCall/co-producer and Antoine Fuqua directing didn't try to copy the show, beat for beat (except for the last shot).
I saw it in the IMAX format and it became Denzel's highest grossing film ever until it's sequel outgrossed it, 4 years later.
2 and 3 are great as well. Nice reaction. I recommend getting the DVD for some behind the scenes extras and what Chloe Moretz did to get ready for the role.

The original Equalizer is from the 80s and it was awesome, it took place here in America but Robert McCall was played by an English actor, Edward Woodward who was outstanding, try watching some episodes of that!!!!!!!

there is 3 of these movies! you need to watch all 3 in order and pay attention to every detail or you will miss stuff.

I loved your reaction to this movie and your emotional content.
First time I saw the movie, and Robert opened the door, I thought he was going to leave, and I'm like, "OK" then he closed the door, opened the door closed the door and I was already counting. I called 18 seconds I think it was 23, he's getting as old as me. He had the plan when he came in, the door, is disconcerting, whether it's OCD or not, doesn't matter, he got everyone in the room anxious and that matters. An anxious enemy is a better enemy than a relaxed enemy. And he already knew they were enemies. If a Russian laughs at you, he's your enemy.
You will all probably love the next two movies (Equalizer 2 and 3). I watched the original series starring Edward Woodward back in the '80s. As much as I liked that show, I absolutely love Denzel's take on the character. Even though the action is great, it's his philosophy and his personality traits that really make his character so compelling. I really hope you will end up watching the next two movies. Great reaction!

Timing yourself in everything is a manner to have a memory of how long it takes to do things so that can be used when calculating variables quickly. It can simply be described as discipline.
I called Eli blind was blind right away, I have experience with blind people who have great situational awareness. Greater than the sighted.

Just saw this movie recently and i cant believe i had never seen it. such a good movie (as almost all Denzel movies are). Then i watched 2 and it was good too. Still need to check out 3.

McCall is nothing like Wick. Wick history is an assassin for the Mafia. Not a good guy. He only does things that are seen as good that serves his interest.
McCall without reward looks for people to help that do not have the ability to help themselves. He asked the villains before any acts of violence, to submit, to give back what was taken from the weak. These characters are total opposites. And I hate the comparisons.

Also some forget The Equalizer was way before John Wick.
When you spend the great majority of your adult life in military or intelligence service then it ends, you wish to rejoin the normal of humanity but aren't really sure it is possible, especially if you feel that you must continue to help humanity and atone for all the things you have done that turned out to be a misuse of your talents for crooked politicians. This story makes it seem like a gift from God to find the wish and feel like you belong there with someone capable to take over helping people.

Hi Cajun! Thanks for your advice! I had to alter the movie audio in order for our video not be blocked. Normal audio blocks the video and the movie company rejects any dispute. I'm always trying new audio filters to see what works best though! Copyright on TH-cam is tough!

I tried to watch but the sound quality of the movie was terrible and difficult to hear.

Equalizer 2 is not nearly as good, but Equalizer 3 is fantastic. A terrific ending to the series.
It would be nice if someone worked for the people, but we have no heroes and the blah blah blah.
