This chick, MJ, thinks that her dialogue is more important than the entertainment of her viewing audience. Chill out, and give the movie a chance for heaven's sake!
my dialogue is more important ... the entire point of my channel is MY REACTION. i aint gotta chill sh*t out, you can gtf off my channel if it bothers you that much, for heavens sake!
PS. Even if I did stop talking (which I’m not 🖕) that would mean less of the movie would show due to copyright and you guys would complain about the video being too short 😃 can’t please everyone!
I’m LMAO……. Love you from Scotland ❤
@@MJWITHOUTSPIDERMAN Sometimes I think the Earth is off its axis a little because all of these a-holes keep coming out of nowhere! Lol
I'm for you, my sweet angel! Keep smiling and laughing! 😄🤗
Looks like you might be the one who needs to “chill out”. It’s her channel so you go make your own then sit quietly throughout your movie review and see how many blokes will tune in. Not many I assure you. It’s called a movie review/reaction so the dialogue is more than appropriate for that platform, and as one of her viewing audience I want her smart and sometimes sarcastic dialogue to enjoy myself while I watch her reviews/reactions so stop speaking for everybody and feel free to not watch if it’s that important to you.
Your the worst kind of reactor. Try to watch some reaction channels that understand that own voice is not the most important thing.
The Roman Empire left so much written history, culture, law, tradition, entertainment, lifestyle, they left records of it all
Or rather stole a lot of history from other countries that they colonized and then incorporated it as their own.
So much so that our founding fathers decided to model the US Republic after Rome's despite it being historically proven to catastrophically fail.
yeah I couldn't after that.. like how can you start with "I'm ignorant haha but so is everybody all we have is a few scriptures" .. also China India Hittites so many more
Maximus was born in Hispania (Spain today), one of the main Roman provinces, so yes he was a Spaniard
So he was a mexican. Noted
In the Roman Empire it was actually common for Emperors to pass down the crown to a non family member, when Marcus Aurelius passed down the crown to Commodus it was taboo, but Marcus only did it so he didn't have to sentence Commodus to death for his aspirations.
He puts the dirt on his hands for grip obviously but the reason he smells it is to remind him of his farm life at home and what he’s fighting for.
Hispania/Iberia (Spain and Portugal) became part of the Roman Empire a couple hundred years earlier. The Caesars Hadrian and Trajan were from Hispania. That's why Maximus was being called Spaniard...because he was.
Gladiator, it was the last movie I watched with my dad, so it's very special for me.
I am so glad you’re watching the longer movies now, they are usually so much better.
One of my favorite movies ever. Seen it so much. Another fav of mine also starring Russell Crowe is Master and Commander
My dad likes that one.
Historically the movie is fairly accurate on the broad strokes, but they take liberties to make the story. No evidence Commodus killed his dad Marcus Aurelius. But Marcus Aurelius was a real emperor who is considered a good, wise, and very capable emperor and his son Commodus was a nut. But...Maximus didn't exist.
However we do actually know a lot about what happened. They were a very literate society and kept plenty of records that we still have.
In my top 3 favorite of all time for sure. Tombstone, Gladiator, Brave Heart.
34:53 You’re funny. The ancient equivalent of NBA All-Star Weekend groupies 💀
Love how you dipped into other genres, it’s fun any way you go
if anything, please know that the romans wrote about and documented EVERYTHING, there's not a ton that they left us guessing about. as for the movie it's all in good fun and i'm glad you enjoyed it.
The busy little bee line is one of the scariest lines I've ever heard. Joaquin Phoenix played the perfect role. This is the first movie I can remember seeing in theaters that not only left me speechless but left me crying my eyes out. I've seen it so many times and I still cry my eyes out.
Fun fact/facts:
The crowd actually didn't speak much english so it took some direction to get them to cheer, and also the actor Oliver Reed (Proximo, Maximus' Patron) was deceased so most of his scenes were done with CGI.
Now "Troy"
The horse died when it fell like that because it ran till it's heart stopped
Yea, the Romans left lots of structures, buildings, statues and written history. The Roman Colosseum in the film is still standing today and a big tourist spot.
partially standing ...
Americans dont have the education to "recognise history" if it stares them in the face, which was demonstrated when US troops turned a few mounds of shards at BABYLON ... into a parking lot for their tanks after the invasion of Iraq.
Horses can't run forever like in the movies they will die after a few miles that's why he took two. Even though that's not enough to gallop from Germany to Spain 😊
Caesar Marcus was played by Richard Harris was Dumbledore in the first two Harry Potter movies. Proximo played by Oliver Reed, unfortunately he died before the end production.
@2:09 Ouch. NO! There are so many writings from these times and archeological evidence to help validate many claims from the Roman era. Just depends which centuries you are referring to.
Telling on my age here but this was the first movie I went to see in movie theatres. Year 2000 this was one of the best movies out when I was in HS. Great reaction!
And the princess does have a great survival instinct. She can keep him in check, for the most part, but if u didnt catch it, she actually drugs him, which is why he always falls asleep when things get super wierd etc.
The grind is realllllll rolling outta bed to react to movies, keep goin queen ❤
"a few scruptions" about the Romans lol. There is a crazy amount of Latin literature, from philosophy to gastronomy to engendering and science to a lot more
He's likely taking two horses because he plans on riding one to death
Well upon rewatching I guess he rode both horses to death
My favorite movie of all time since it came in 2000. Great reaction! ❤
Gotta watch Troy 👌👌
Definitely! Amazing movie. Kingdom Of Heaven is an underrated movie as well.
Troy is severely overrated and not remotely historically accurate. It’s just an average movie about a fictional time in history
@@tonysoto8949
The first scene of "Troy" is pretty much the highlight of the movie.
@@richardrobbins387 yea and the low point is how clumsy and inept Hector was in the severely anticlimactic fight scene between him and Achilles. Anybody with training in any of the martial arts and man to man combat in a war type setting knows you don’t leave your feet to strike your opponent and in Troy they had Achilles dancing around and jumping like a ballerina in the air to land sword and spear strikes. But the fact that Hector trips over a rock during the fight is vaudeville comedy shit.
MJ, you seem to have a General yourself. You know strategy and people.
The crowd was chanting live.
By the looks of it, the opps in the beginning were not prepared.
Sweetheart we're still in AD
🤣🤣🤣 honestly, i thought that was cute!
I know what she meant
Also, they're making a Gladiator 2, with Djimon Honsou (his Black friend from the end part). I'm so happy. 😊
I remember watching this movie in highschool. And when Commodus smothered his father I was traumatized.
Meditations by Marcus Aurelius
Now you are ready to watch Gladiator 2 that should be released this Fall. Some of the original cast from this movie will be back. G2 will focus on Lucius, the boy who will be grown who took over Rome after the death of Maximus
Maximus was a farmer b4 he was a general. He picks up the dirt....rubs his hands and smells it bc it reminds him of the life that was stolen from him.
Incredible ❤
Wassup MJ always enjoy your reactions and can't wait for this one 😊
loved your reaction. Good commentary! 19:05 He was leading a horse while riding a horse so he can swap when the first gets tired. In ancient history the Chinese did that to travel long distances.
Really raising the bar on movie quality as of late.
I love what you said: "You stabbed me in the back to have an advantage." That's what a coward would do.
Then Commodus goes and gets stabbed in the front, like a WARRIOR, because Maximus is no coward. That's a take I've never heard before. Girl, you on point!!!! ❤❤
one of your very best, MJ.. i'm subscribed now.. thanks for this great reaction vid.. the editing was so good
1:59 Try starting at Google, when it comes to what happened in Rome we aren’t guessing. As other people said the Romans kept records of what was happening to them.
A lot of what we think of as structured society comes from the Romans and the Greeks. If you truly wish to learn something about how our society got here its not hard.
It’s based on historical events but it’s fictionalized. Meaning it’s loosely based on real events in history but it’s a fictional story. But still a great movie.
You're becoming very cine-literate, MJ! You see the clues and interpret them correctly. The factual tid-bits come later, like the emperor (Marcus Aurelius, also called Caesar) is played by the actor (Richard Harris) who starred in the first two Harry Potter films as Dumbledore. Your human sensibilities and intuition also seem to be in synch with reality. Repeated exposure to film techniques, to literary works, and an expanded awareness of history can only increase your comfort and growth in this world. I'll continue to search for your movie reactions! Best wishes!!
Horses are not cars you need change when one is tired...
I am SO sorry I’ve never rode a horse or researched them like tf😭
Loving this reaction. Great reaction to this classic movie
Not to overwhelm, but for a single little kingdom, we normally count surviving materials in the thousands; for the roman empire, we have countless documentations of all kinds - historians do a lot of work, and we do know a lot about the past!
That said, the director made himself some dramatic choices here, that most historians by now have pointed out. It's normally fine to veer off a little bit, so long as it's made clear the movie does not intend to lecture, but show a good story.
"I didn't say I knew him I said he touched me on the shoulder once!" 😆
Hey we all got our little brushes with stardom
Amazing movie love the video MJ stay motivated dream big 1 mill on the way
This was Russell Crowe's best movie imo
great reaction I put this reaction in top tier section
Heat
Forrest Gump
The Green Mile
Gladiator
have a blessed day MJ
🕷🕸🌹
I know these are reaction videos but my biggest issue is when all the person or people reacting to the movie or show just talk through the whole thing and MJ WITHOUT SPIDERMAN in my opinion your reaction was very enjoyable. Awesome reaction you definitely have a new subscriber. I look forward to watching more reactions from you.
@MJ Continue to seek out greatness and films that move you emotionally. Fun watch, this is one of my 25 favorite films. Ridley Scott is an amazing director
I've been trying not to, but you are just way too amazing to not fall in love with! Every time you smile and laugh I get all warm and squishy inside, wishing I could give you a big squeeze!! Lol
Love you, sweet girl! You have been a nurturing blessing for my soul and I am truly grateful for you! ❤🤗😇
So back in those times it wasn't uncommon for brothers & sisters to sleep w/ one another, especially those of higher decent because they believed in keeping the Blood Lines "Royal"!!!! I took a Greek Mythology Course a long time ago when i was in school & learned that....
One of my all time fave movies, must've seen it atleast a couple dozen times 🙏 You should definitely watch Troy and Kingdom Of Heaven since you seem to enjoy historical epics.
I am so here for this. Great reaction
the enemy germans took position in the trees trying to bait the romans into pursuing, the romans had numerical superiority, this was the last of the german army until they had won germany. the praetorian guard commander was concerned about his men getting into battle, but maximus kindly told him to shut up that it would be acceptable. praetorians had real control at times in history, thats why they supported the treacherous son. plus the soil is too wet in the environment for sustained forest fires.
Before " Gladiator " there was " Conan The Barbarion " . And before that there was " Ben Hur ".
Putting maggots on the wound is actually smart. They only eat dead/infected flesh.
One of the best movies all time.
Another banger!!!🔥🔥
He was a farmer before he was a soldier.
he took two horses because he intends to ride them literally to death so that he can make it to northern spain from germany on time to save his family.
Great reactions....❤
36:13 something about him also a farmer not just a soldier
Should def watch Troy now. But also yeah, Marcus Aurelius was real, there's even a book called "Meditations" and it's really good. But yeah back in the day like in Egypt they believed in "pure blood heirs" so they'd have children with family members
That Commodus guy; he's a real Joker!
I see what you did there
@@oloatis2182 🤣
This is by far the best Soundtrack of all times
Excellent movie. Good reaction.
MJ Awesome Video Today!!🔥🐐🐐💎
one of my favorite movies of all time
"This is based way back in A.D".
Well it's a good thing we're not back in A.D. You're too cute.
Love your Videos MJ 💯🖤❤️💝
You have 39k subs and more Patreons than PewDiePie! How? That's insane.. you had a whole movie credits list of patrons.
I could listen to MJ talk all day 😍
The word you were looking for is resentment 👍🏾
You are in for a treat
Brilliant film and great reaction
I just love MJ Spirit in theses videos I thank god for her every day this world definitely needs you great video Mj ❤🔥🦋🧸❤️🔥
He took 2 horses because he was gonna go a long way really fast and the one he's sitting on will get tired quicker because of his extra weight then you'll switch to the other 1 he's riding gets tired
I know you don't take requests but there's a similar film to Gladiator that was made in 1960 called Spartacus which is the GOAT of these type of movies and the inspiration to Gladiator. One day I hope you can check it out. As always nice reaction, miss MJ.
The dirt rubbing in hand give you good grip on a weapon.
Oh no you've summoned the history nerds who have been waiting to type at you for not knowing more about the Roman Empire. 😂😂😂
Appreciate you.
LMAOOO I SEE
You don’t have to know the history of Rome to watch this movie, only names used in this movie are anything remotely historically accurate. If you want to be a history nerd then Spaniards don’t have Australian accents. It’s a movie made for Hollywood entertainment purposes only
LOL
I am one of those that was summoned lol 🤣😂🤣😂
@@MJWITHOUTSPIDERMAN
Great reaction. Keep it up.
i love you
Horse is dying MJ you push a horse to hard it can and will die
Good morning beautiful ❤️
The reason they call him the spaniard is because he was from spain, which was part of the roman empire
I can't wait for Gladiator 2
I'm not too keen on it after seeing Napoleon , Ridley Scott isn't who he used to be. Plus, nowadays sequels in general are so bad...movies in general 😂
@@MFZ0dd long story short you're slightly right but i can hope lol
@violentwaves oh nothing would make me happier than us getting a great sequel! I hope historical epics make a comeback, I'm tired of the superhero movies.
@@MFZ0dd yeah I got to say the last sequel I can think of that was good was The Raid 2
@@violentwavesHell yeah Raid 2 was great 👌 I also think Extraction 2 was pretty decent.
Morning from UK
Btw, one of my best friends has a pretty cool Spiderman tattoo he got in the 90's. It was b day gift from his wife. This was before all the films so it was for his love of the comics as a kid in the 70's and early 80's.
This really movie pretty good
❤❤
You look THAT good in the morning?!? Wow… I look like Shrek! lol ❤
They were chanting live
My ex hated this movie, I used to be obsessed with the Romans.
You mention Casualties of War at about the 9 minute mark...funny, look up the movie Casualties of War.
Mj you're really angel ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
