"You're so drunk you probably can't hit anything. In fact I bet you're seeing double. I have two guns, one for each of you."😂😂 Brilliant writing, also if it happens fast but if you look closely you can see that he spins one gun forwards and one backwards. Showing you how skilled Doc is.👍🏼🔥
Wyatt Earp was never married to Mattie Blaylock. He did in fact marry Josephine and they stayed together until Wyatts death in 1929. She died in 1944 in Los Angeles. 👍🏼
'93 was the most competitive year for supporting actor performances on the big screen. The 66th Oscar nominees were: Tommy Lee Jones (The Fugitive), Ralph Fiennes (Schindler's List), John Malkovich (In the Line of Fire), Leonardo DiCaprio (What's Eating Gilbert Grape), Pete Postlethwaite (In the Name of the Father). The snubs were: Val Kilmer (Tombstone), Ben Kingsley (Schindler's List), Sean Penn (Carlito's Way), certain actors in True Romance, etc...
Yeah that's a cold line. Used that line once when it looked like this guy wanted to throw down in a bar parking lot. Nothing happened though, he backed down.
33:20 The fact that he also aimed it at his head for the kill shot is such a testament to his speed as well. I will never get tired of this classic western.
I didn't notice if you mentioned it, but the guy playing Ike Clanton, is Stephen Lang. The actor who plays Col. Quarich/Clone Quarich from Avatar/Way of Water. Despite not watching westerns, I recommend watching Lonesome Dove with Robert Duvall and Tommy Lee Jones, it's a four-part miniseries. Robert Duval called it the Godfather of western. Also, fun fact during the water scene where Curly Bill misses Wyatt despite being almost point blank. Supposedly that did happen in real life according to some stories.
I only have one movie for you that no one has reacted to and it's one that I watch once a year. It's a fantasy western unlike anything else. "Purgatory" (1999) with Eric Roberts, Sam Shepard, Donnie Wahlberg and Randy Quaid. It's not near as good as "Tombstone" but I'm fairly certain you won't ever forget it.
Doc didn't fight Ringo because he knew he was going to die anyway.... He fought Ringo to save Wyatt. It had NOTHING to do with his probability of living much longer. It was about a buddy helping another regardless of anything else. True friendship between men.
Thank you, dear ladies, for the awesome reaction and commentary to this fabulous movie. 🤗 When you're in the mood for more westerns, there are a lot of excellent ones to choose from. One of my all-time favorites is Unforgiven, starring Clint Eastwood, Morgan Freeman and Gene Hackman.
Really cool how Silvester Stalone's brother Frank can go from a street corner singer in Rocky to Ed Baily in this, looking right at home with his moustache amongst the other characters.
Many people believe that Val Kilmer deserved the Oscar that year for this film. Here are the nominees for Best Supporting Actor in the 66th Academy Awards: Tommy Lee Jones as Samuel Gerard in "The Fugitive" Ralph Fiennes as Amon Göth in "Schindler's List" John Malkovich as Mitch Leary in "In the Line of Fire" Leonardo DiCaprio as Arnie Grape in "What's Eating Gilbert Grape" Pete Postlethwaite as Giuseppe Conlon in "In the Name of the Father" Other snubs include Ben Kingsley as Itzhak Stern in "Schindler's List", Sean Penn as David Kleinfeld in "Carlito's Way", certain actors in "True Romance", etc...
To be honest thats one heck of a lineup. Ralph and Leo were unbelievable. To think Tommy won. The fugitive is a great film but TLJ's performance wasn't in the same league as Kilmer's, Ralphs and Leo's.
Best OK Corral movie ever made. ❤ My family went to Tombstone on vacation when I was little. The old buildings are still there and so are the bullet holes!
I was at Tombstone almost 10 years ago. We watched a re inactment of the gunfight. The actors drilled into the audience that the gunfight lasted no where near as long as any of these films say. They said it was over very quickly. Most of Tombstone now is modern now but there are places that are preserved. The site of the gunfight is buttoned up and closed up. All in all it's an interesting place to stay yes you can stay there.
Doc didn't come "because he knew he was going to die anyway." He dragged himself out of bed to save his friend's life. If he didn't kill Ringo, Wyatt would still be next and still be killed. Doc knew he had to kill Ringo and only he could - deathly sick or not.
In 1970 , I read the biography of Wyatt Earp and wrote a book report for my 6th grade class . That was 89 years after the events of that day at the O.K. coral in Tombstone , Arizona . My uncle is 89 years of age now .
Sam Elliot was my favorite. Wyatt and Doc where great too. Big cast. Glad ya'll enjoyed this movie. Reactions where great. When the kid screamed and you had a jumpscare. Love this movie and Magnificent Seven.
Tombstone is one of the greatest Westerns ever made as far as I'm concerned. It has a killer cast, including Billy Bob Thornton and the movie doesnt waste any of them.
The studio dumped Tombstone into theaters without screening it for critics because everyone thought that the Kevin Costner Wyatt Earp film would be a big hit. It wasn't. Film critic Roger Ebert said that he would have campaigned for Val Kilmer to get nominated as Best Supporting Actor had he seen the film earlier. The Kevin Costner production also had rented all the standard Hollywood Western costumes and gear, so the Tombstone production had to get more creative. Some of the extras were Western re-enactors who provided their own authentic Western gear.
Marty and Wyatt were never actually married, she was only his common-law wife. A young John Wayne became friends with Wyatt Earp before he became an actor while he was working in the props department and Earp was being an advisor to the studios.Wayne said several times that he based his trademark walk and his slow drawling speech on Earp. I really was glad to see Charlton Heston and Harry Carry Jr. (Fred Wyatt, the sheriff who was killed) even in such small parts.
That gun is a single action revolver, meaning no matter what happens to the trigger, it doesn’t fire unless you pull the hammer. You can spin that son of a gun as much as you want and it won’t fire unless you cock back that hammer. That’s why you see some of these cowboys hold the trigger down and fan the hammer, it allows for faster fire over accuracy. Just hold the trigger down and slap that hammer as fast as you can.
Loved the reaction ladies, thank you. Have you ever seen Dances With Wolves? If not that's a beautiful western with a little something for you ladies since it stars a young Kevin Costner. 👍😎❤️
The incident with Fred White and Curly Bill was very different from the stories told. Apparently, White didn't die immediately and told the Deputies that it was an accident before later dying. Heard he and Bill actually had a good relationship
Val Kilmers performance of Doc was phenomenal and not getting nominated for an Oscar was a tragedy. It shows the people that do the nominated hated westerns.
@@jp3813the man who won it. TLJ's. I wouldn't have begrudged Ralph or Leo winning it ( Although the academy would have known there and then he would have plenty more opportunities for an Oscar ). To me it should have been between Fiennes and Kilmer. If only they could split it.
@@garyparkinson6198 TLJ's performance made too much of an impact back then to be snubbed. I would've thought that most people's pick would be Postlethwaite's since it's lesser-known even to this day.
To 'die with one's boots on' meant to die solid to your beliefs or convictions back in those days. Doc is noted as saying he would die with his boots on...'I'll be damned' nope, he literally didn't.
Clint Eastwood westerns to catch: Start with the so called "Dollars Trilogy" (Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More and The Good, The Bad and the Ugly). Then others like "The Outlaw Josie Wales", "Pale Rider" and "The Unforgiven". There are other good ones but these ought to keep you busy.
Pistols back then were single-action only. Meaning you have to cock the hammer all the way back to fire each bullet. You cannot just pull the trigger as fast as you want. However, you can "fan" the hammer: keep the trigger back with your finger, and using the side of your other hand you pull the hammer back and let it go, repeat as fast as you can. Now.. Curly Bill's howling at the moon and shooting up the town square is unrealistic. Single-action revolvers only hold 6 bullets in the cylinder. He should've been out of ammo and not able to shoot the old man.
I know the usual top comment is about Val K not getting an award, but I highly encourage every big fan of this movie to visit Tombstone AZ. There's so much history and paranormal ghost tours there. Saloons still owned by one the original cowboys and daily gunfight acts of the OK Coral. Stories being shared about big massacres and the graveyard with a tour of all the graves buried there. I grew up where Morgan is buried in Colton CA. The Earp's parents lived there during that time and their home is still there next to the high school
Please stop calling this by the generic term "western". This film is based on true history with adjustments made for dramatic effect. The proper term is historical fiction.
Now that you've watched Tombstone you should also watch Wyatt Earp starring Kevin Costner as Wyatt and Dennis Quaid as Doc Holiday. Both movies came out about the same time. Tombstone is great but the Costner version is the more authentic version of Earp's life.
the "I'll be damned" was that he could see his bare feet at the end, when he had convinced himself that he would die with his boots on.
I saw somewhere those were actually his last words.
@@silence3314 From what I understand, a lot of those quotes were accurate

Mattie Blaylock and Josephine were both his common-law wives. He wasn't "officially" married to either woman.
