I work at a hospital in the cafeteria, and I’m always thinking about all the people that are being saved. Sometimes I hear on the intercoms “code rapid response” or “code blue” in room blah blah and I’m just like dang I’m just sitting here serving food and there’s doctors and nurses busting their butts to save someone just around the corner

I'm upset over him saying that if he was a different race he'd be bragging about his possessions. That's essentially saying that him being humble is because he's asian and not because he's a genuinely nice person, which is not only racist towards caucasians but also heavily offensive to the doctor, saying he's only that way due to his race.
@@PrimeDiam well he's generally not wrong. Asians tend to be much more humble on average than caucasians are. That's why caucasians are losing positions of influence to Asians slowly but surely. It's almost like merit and hard work overtake shitty cultural habits that Caucasians tend to have

What about cleaners? They never get any respect and they clean our toilets everyday. Could pay me 50 bucks an hour and I still wouldn't do it for my career.

@@Wontreplyeverdontbother Majority of human evolution has been without "surgeons". What if there were no cleaners? The world would be a bigger pile of trash and that surgeon you're referring to would not work unless it was cleaned claiming it needs to be sterile. LoL... yeah. 100 years ago and back NOTHING was "sterile" according to current terms and regulations. You know they used to have vats of morphine, dip a rag in, wash the wound and if you didn't die, well... that's great! Or pregnancies were 50/50, you live or you die. Cleaning has been the same since you had something to clean. You aren't born with the knowledge to clean but it's much easier gaining(edit) knowledge on cleaning than it is with(edit) any type of surgery.

@@cmooisthename I can’t speak for him but I start school in 3 weeks on the road to becoming an MD as well. I’m majoring in biology but you can major in whatever you want, people tend to major in a science field because it’s easier to get your medical school pre requisites. Just focus on the extracurriculars, good grades and a good mcat score. I can’t speak on bud experience but a lot of people love their 2 years because it’s easier (more talking to patients and applying your knowledge and an easier step 2 exam) and don’t like the first 2 years as much (it’s great at the beginning because you’re a new student, but there’s a lot to learn and grasp, and you take probably the toughest exam of your life)

Hi Dr Lee! You did a double bypass on me on 12/11/2020 other then a little rib cage pain I feel great! I can walk over 2 miles without feeling wiped out. I can't wait to start riding my Bike! Have a Great Day and People don't be afraid, I am 53 and feeling great again!
What were your symptoms prior to you finding out you need bypass. I'm 53 and don't have any symptoms yet but with modern technology, nice to find out before having a major heart attack. Your doing great 2 months post op...Congrats

It impressed me he gave credit to everyone!
He still has the unmistakable swagger of a cardiothoracic surgeon. I think its impossible for them to avoid given they're the biggest generators of revenue for the hospital and uniquely among specialties, pretty much every surgery they do is 'cheating god' so to speak.

Dr Lee replaced my aortic valve a year and a half ago. He is a wonderful surgeon, physician, and human being. I owe my life to him and the entire team at RWJ Barnabas Medical Center.
Dear, with Minimally invasive procedure, the sternum is not needed to be broken. right? I had AVR.Ministernoscopy. Sternum was broken as i had calcified aortic valve.
You owe your life to God, but thankfully these people went to school and had good training, and investors created the tools they used.

I am a minimally invasive robotic surgeon in his early 40’s. When I was in medical school at Cornell, some 15 years ago, I had the pleasure to watch Dr Lee perform a CABG. He is an absolute beast. A surgical GOD, if there ever were one. He’s precise and extremely efficient. To this day, I have never witnessed anyone operate like him. He is masterful. Like poetry in motion.

I’m a heart clinician and just in case you don’t know, 4 cases by 4pm is incredibly fast. Especially with a double valve on the 2nd case. There are some surgeons that take until 4pm to do 1 case! Fastest surgeon I’ve ever worked with does 4 cases by 6pm. How amazing.
This is the result of the organization, not the speed of a single surgeon.
im sure there was a lot prep work done by all the people involved in surgery , prior to him entering the OP . he was like doing drive thru surgery
Tell me about it..from an anesthesia standpoint this is insane too. I know the anesthesiologists and CRNAs are probably very thankful. I have been in a single bypass when it was 3 pm that we rolled to ICU with a 7 am start time..then the surgeon had another bypass to start afterwards.
Heart clinician? If you're not a cardiologist, just say what you are. It's confusing to patients.
It’s BS that you’re identifying yourself as a heart clinician unless English is not your primary language. Are you a physician? If not be clear in identifying your role and don’t try to deceive others.
As an OR nurse, this doctor is pure efficient. You can tell he also treats his coworkers with respect and stays very humble.

@@user-lu6yg3vk9z I disagree! Mid-level providers are definitely going to be playing a large role, but physicians are absolutely going to be needed. Luckily for me, I went to undergrad on a scholarship so my parents can use my college fund for medical school. Plus, I'm more interested in become a physician than making physician money.

@@saraahmadi3419 I’m Swiss and you can enter medical school by passing the entrance exam. The problem is that only “Swiss” students can take the exam and enter medical school. Either you were born there, got your high school diploma there, lived there since a while, are married to a Swiss person, you get the idea.
As for foreign doctors wanting to work in Switzerland it’s quite impossible. You have to pass the language requirement and have a level of at least B2 and honestly the only foreign doctors are from Germany and they are paid less than their Swiss colleagues. I don’t mean to discourage you but it’s quite a closed system.

Dr. Lee & his awesome team, did my mitral valve repair in March of 2019. The nursing staff was wonderful in the intensive care unit. The discharge team was very thorough and caring.
How is the repair doing? Are there any leakings?
Doctor has the 3Cs qualities - Calm, Cool & Collected. He is the unshakeable even when the world around him falling apart
I love that Dr. Lee explains what he’s doing in such a way that a layman like myself can understand what he’s talking about. He’s clearly a fantastic doctor and more importantly, human being.
It feels great when awesome doctors like him, recognize that’s it’s never only their glory and their work that need to be congratulated. Anesthesiologists doctors and their fellow nurses, Us, the nurses in the General ICU, the heart surgeons. Everyone needs to be congratulated 😊 It’s a team work and that’s why I love it.

It is so nice to hear this physician recognize the hard work of everyone that is a part of his surgical team! It really is a team effort from the Anesthesiologist, RN circulators, surgical technologists, to the room attendants that help turn over the ORs between cases! These teams work hard!

@@Celtics20 How much money do these people generate? How much money do pro athletes generate? Your paycheck's not determined by how hard the job is. It's determined by how profitable/unique you are. In sports, there is a market value that each player has. Players on the lower end will struggle to get a contract, while players like Lebron James will have a guaranteed 30 million salary. If the Lakers think he's getting paid too much and try to lower his salary, another team will be happy to pay him 30 million. This is because there is no one that can replace Lebron. These surgeons? Just hire the next one behind him if the first one doesn't has any complaints.

Having been a little off my game today at my desk job, I cannot even comprehend this level of responsibility every single day.

The work this hospital and doctor does is beyond amazing. We should all feel really fortunate to have this kind of medical care available to us. The doctor and his team very precise and efficient and make it seem like another day at the office.
It's actually pretty comforting to think that for us patients these kinds of surgeries are the some of the most crucial parts of our lives, but for the surgeon we are just one more routine operation out of a thousand. ❤

In my institution, they could only do 2 cases like this and last until 4 pm. Dr. Lee finished all 4 including the rounds by 4:30 pm, showing how skilled and competent he is. Amazing, indeed.

My mom had congestive heart failure due to chemotherapy treatment years previous. She passed away two years ago in May. She had a pretty significant cardiological event and ended up taking her life. Rejection fractions were 10% and lived like that for years she took bike rides she swam and embraced her life With everything she had she didn’t let her condition stop her. I miss her deeply. New subscriber . There’s nothing like being on the cardiac ICU floor..

You cardiac surgeons are awesome. My husband had his first bypass when he was 39 in 1982. At that time the nurses said they’d never seen that young of a bypass patient. He had been a heavy smoker and the surgeon told him one more cigarette and your dead, and he stopped completely. However had another one in 2092, but so far at 78 his heart is good ! Sometimes you need a bit of tough love.

I work as an RN in a Chicago University Hospital and we receive post Cardiac Surgery patients ( Valve replacements, Coronary bypasses). This surgeon , Dr Lee is so professional and exceptional and fast. Double valve can take a whole day here where I work. Not only does he has the surgical skills, he has the human touch and humility. 100 %respect , sir 🫡
