Linkin Park was my first purchase as a kid, the album is still playable 21 years later. I was born in 91, I even think One Step Closer was probably the first video I witnessed as a child when MTV had The Box. I think this album gave me an avenue where there was more than Hip Hop and R&B. My music style started to change with certain video game soundtracks and when OutKast dropped their double album. So great discussion.

Dynamic Duo has returned, woop woop. This gonna take awhile so I just wanted to welcome you back first! Brb...
Okay, watched/ listened to the whole thing while doing a painting sessh. Kept hearing art references so that was way cool.
Not familiar with LP much, what I’ve heard I’ve probably forgotten. I have CD mixes of songs from 2000, most of those songs don’t resonate with me nearly as much as they did back then. I’ll play it tomorrow at work and see... I’m sure they’re great songs but I’m a different guy now. Like fine wine, I like to whine.
I will give Hybrid Theory a shot. I could have been more prepared if I’d known there was a test. So now I got two albums to digest...
    Podcast? Sure, if it’s doable.
    Really enjoyed it guys,
    Be safe,
    Peace and Pink Floyd Music

Definitely check out some of the concept art from hybrid theory. Also their hunting party album had a lot of James Jean inspired art (from what I remember) that sketch/conceptual style of painting is so cool.

I was skeptical clicking on this album review, mostly because I don't know much about this band and second there wasn't any tracks played as samples. I figured it would be boring to dedicate so much time to band/topic I don't know much about. To my surprise, it wasn't boring at all and rather interesting.
Based on the conversation, I was getting a person's musical awakening. For Manny he's stating this album was his special moment in his childhood musically. For me there are a few artists that were my awakening. From an entire album pov I would say Billy Joel "The Stranger" album was my wow moment. The first prog albums that was my holy shit moment was Styx "Grand Illusion and later Connerstone". I don't have to tell you guys what changed my world - Rush "Moving Pictures"
Now in regards to rockers that don't like Rap. I said it many times, melody is key. So the old style rap from the 80 and 90. I like some of it, some not so much. That metal screamo stuff Justin enjoys, just isn't my thing and trust me I'm open to nearly anything. Manny, I'm trying to figure out why you are so salty on Pink Floyd? Like WTF are you going on about? You stating the LP album is your awakening and influenced your taste. What does Dark Side of the Moon have to do with it? Just like that California sound was the hippy thing in the 60's Pink Floyd was the stoner thing in the 70's and 80's. Not saying you have to be a stoner to appreciate PF by the way.
Yes, it was great seeing you two back together and overall I enjoyed the podcast. Granted the topic source LP was of no interest to me, but I will give the album a listen Manny (Because you asked). The conversation and dialog between you two was interesting and what entertained me most. Hopefully we get more JPMP and I found this upload by accident, so most JPMP fans are not seeing it as a suggestion.

Please react to the prog band Van der Graaf Generator. Their epic "A Palgue of Lighthouse Keepers" is one of the best prog epics right alongside "Suppers Ready". A shorter recommended piece would be "Arrow"

All right, another channel to push my obsessive recommendations of Spock’s Beard. Wohoo!
Ps, I was an innocent wide eyed 41 year old in 2000.

Manny's back! Yeeaaaaa! 😃😁😄 Hmmm... 8 and 11. The first time I heard Hybrid Theory, I was sitting in my evil brother-in-law's car filling out my AARP membership application. It's hard to find affordable supplemental health insurance. Our differences in opinion my not only be generational, but also a product of our HDL cholesterol levels at the time. Anyway, I didn't like it. I didn't like the rapping and I didn't like the screaming. My BIL burned a copy for me and it sat on the car seat next to me for about a week. I gave it another listen and between the rapping and screaming, I noticed some good riffs and some good beats. Before long, I was able to listen to the music as a whole and not be repulsed by rapping and screaming. It grew on me and it made it possible for me to listen to heavier music with screaming and moderate amounts of metal-style rapping. (Regular rapping still makes me nauseous.) Without Linkin Park, I probably wouldn't have ventured into modern metal music like Slipknot.
