- Shout Factory released the Shaw Brothers Classics Volume 4 which is a Blu-ray box set featuring 12 classic martial arts kung fu movies from the 1980s. This set includes movies from director Chang Cheh and his Venom Mob members as well as actors like Derek Yee and Ti Lung.

The Shaw Brothers Classics Collection Vol 4 includes the following films: The Rebel Intruders (1980), Two Champions of Shaolin (1980), Legend of the Fox (1980), Black Lizard (1981), House of Traps (1982), Masked Avengers (1981), The Sword Stained With Royal Blood (1981), Five Element Ninjas (1982), Shaolin Prince (1982), Shaolin Intruders (1983), Opium and the Kung Fu Master (1984) and Holy Flame of the Martial World (1983).

I have been most excited about this set. I enjoyed Masked Avengers and Five Element Ninjas the other day. 2023 has been great!

Love the color scheme on this one and man this packs some great ones, a few that have been oop on blu for ages like Opium and the kung fu master. I still need volume 3,4 and the Ti Lung exclusive set. Expensive tho, for those 3 nearly 400$ As much as I hate amazon, if you wait it out you can get them for much cheaper then shout, a gamble whether they will be dinged tho, i got lucky with mine tho, perfect shape, I got both for 99$ No beating the ti lung exclusive set tho, only on shout:(
Hey Robert ,cheers for the shout out mister. I think this is the set i have been most excited for , but I do favour the later films more. Its pretty Chang cheh/Venom heavy but we have the 3 films by Chia Tang ,a Chor Yuen flick and Holy flame so its very very strong .And how have you not seen Holy flame ????
A few of these i have on Blu-ray from either 88 Films or Koch media but most are first time releases. It's a shame that this is the last Shout factory set ,they said they won't be releasing any more .lets hope Arrow give us Shawscope volume 3 next year .

I think ShawScope 3 is still gonna happen - sounds like more horror themed SB movies! So many movies in the SB catalog I feel like just as I'm catching up - there are still hundreds of titles hiding behind the curtain haha!
@@CoinOpTV best guess is they made just shy of 1000 films and around 300 or so are Wuxia, most which I have seen. Even Paul Thomas hasn't seen them all, I told about a couple of films I have and he didn't know about, and he is the guru man!
@@mitchsfridaynightsongclub2594 I wonder how many I've seen total -- at least over a hundred but I lean towards the martial arts stuff -- probably would skip most of the drama and other genres.
Hey Robert, do you remember the title of the movie that it has this 2 shaolin guy vs 2 manchu guy with qi gong and invincible defence? (the only way to k*ll him was to aim his eyes/crotch 😅)

Do you think Arrow will release a volume 3 shaw set? I really dug the first 2 and I even built a custom shelf to house them. A space is empty tho for the 3rd volume, needs it! lol
Thanks for watching - I'm told by insiders that there will be a ShawScope Vol 3 and 4 -- however vol 3 is supposed to lean in on horror genre stuff and not so much martial arts which makes me less excited.... no info has been shared yet on Vol 4. According to reports Shout Factory is done with their sets for now.
@@CoinOpTV Thanks for the info! Horror related stuff for vol 3? That is odd, im guessing stuff like Human Lanterns and Mr Vampire? meh not really a fan of those myself....but i`ll end up getting it lol. Im kind of glad shout is done atm, my wallet needs a breather, they were rolling those out very quick and expensive! your looking at over 500$ for all of`m. I actually bought the Ti lung exclusive set for myself over xmas and my fam got vol 3 for me on xmas. So now I just need Vol4 and have them all! Going to sub to you my friend
Thanks for the mention, Robert! The track I did for MASKED AVENGERS is on there. No idea how it got left off the packaging. I included mini-making of’s for SWORD STAINED and BRAVE ARCHER 3 and 4 on it too.
BLACK LIZARD dub sounded like it had been remastered. The cleanest dub track I think I’ve ever heard.

Good informative video. I own all 4 classic box sets plus The Brave Archer set. All I’m missing is the most expensive one Ti Lung/David Chiang boxset

I'm definitely going to get it... but my favorite is Masked Avengers, the Sword strained with royal blood, house of traps, i wish killer Army and To Kill a Mastermind was in the package..... Philip kwok is my favorite Venom!
