    Didn't work for me, unfortunately -- probably down to org IT! But somebody else below reminded me of groups so I went into my Outlook desktop app and found the group. Once I clicked into the group I was able to open a new email and it gave me the entire team in a distribution list that I was able to expand and double check that I could see everyone. So using that method I was actually successfully able to send an email to the members of a team's Channel but only through groups. So maybe that can be a workaround for those struggling with IT permissions!

    Great explanation! Super quick and to the point! Anyone who uses Teams should be all over this one!!!

    Thanks for that. It has been stressing the hell out of me. Its a major issue with Teams I think.

    Oh thank goodness there's a way to do this. They should just have a button labeled "email all team members". But that wouldn't be vague enough apparently....

    • @LearningandTechnology

      I agree! It should be one button. 😀

    • @aimiminami
      @aimiminami 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think they dont initiate the button just to promote us to use teams more. But, in our practice, we still need to use email because everyone is not 100% on teams 🙄

      @@aimiminami we do too. And sometimes there are discussions that need to take place on a format that makes it easier to retain the records of those conversations. Teams chats are awesome for live chats, but when you want to pull up what someone said 4 months ago? Not so much.

    You may want to update your notation about guests, this feature is now working. We have several Teams using this function with Custom email addresses for the team.

    Didnt work for me. The email shows up in the Private Group inbox, but never goes to the members mailboxes

      You many need to involve your IT Department to make sure email distribution lists are setup

    • @anonymous-user

      I believe that its normal to appear in the respective group inbox. So, not on the user's inbox.
      To find it in Outlook, check the lower left corner of the screen (where it says Groups).
      Btw, receiving an email like this does not trigger any notification on the Outlook mobile app or on Outlook web.

    Hey Frank, thanks for posting the video.
    I feel you could have explored this topic a little bit further. For example, show that the group email address can also be copied from the Admin center (teams and groups > active teams and groups). I understand not everyone is an admin though.
    Secondly, I'm not sure how exactly this is supposed to work, on the receiving end. At 2:30 you show your own account's Outlook and the email is apparently NOT on your inbox, It seems to be showing as if its on the group's inbox. But then at 2:32 you show Clark Kent's Outlook and the email appears on his inbox. What's the difference ?

      I'd have to check - I am not sure if I am on the Team with my e-mail account (this video is a bit older now). When I was making many of these Teams videos, I was using my "super hero" team members for the testing/demos)
      It might actually be time to re-create a number of Teams videos as the interface and functionality has undergone several updates.

    • @anonymous-user

      @@LearningandTechnology from my testing the emails sent to a Team never show in the users own inbox. It's always in the group specific inbox.
      What happens is that if someone reply-all to the message, then both the original sender and the group are included in the To: field. As such, the original sender gets his reply in the his main inbox (naturally).

    Thanks for great video! I don't see the conversations tab in my SharePoint, though. Any ideas how I can get it to show? Or some other way to get to the point where I can send an email to the team?

    • @anonymous-user
      @anonymous-user ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, i'm pretty sure you can use the email address that has been associated to the Team. You can see that in Admin center > Teams and groups > Active teams and groups. There's a list of all group names and their respective email address. Take that email address and use it whenever you need.

      @@anonymous-user I am working through this now. I thin that Frank's explanation is for a Team but not for a team channel. I am currently not able to find a way to send an email to the members of a team channel that does not go directly to their emails.

    • @anonymous-user
      @anonymous-user ปีที่แล้ว

      @@paulynnvirgilcovington9486 you mean you would like to send an email to a specific address and see the message arrive inside Teams, in the respective channel ?
      I don't think that's possible natively with Teams. Unless there's some kind of bot or agent or some or other app that does it.

    The only reason this works is because your team is also a group. If your team isn't also a group, this won't work
