@@DUNN.. Well, maybe these scale serve as a vague orientation, but it's impossible to made an entire song using solely one of these. If you just build a powerchord on each step, you are already in the chromatic scale. I know it's the same with diatonic scales, but songs using them are still far more consistant.
@goh2121 now you’re talking about an entire song not death metal riffs. It could used as an intro, verse or chorus riff. Your statement was they’re useless for death metal riffs think chromatic.
These scales are hexatonic scales not diatonic which I thought was interesting and made a quick video about them. I will write a song using both these scales , thank you for the challenge 🤘🏻🔥🤘🏻
@@DUNN.. I will be there to hear it. Maybe I was wrong! And am not an English native speaker, so it's hard for me to epress what I think. The problem I have with thse exotic scales is: Are they worth being defined as an entity of its own. For example the pentatonic scale. You can find a lot of songs in which the vocal melody is reduced to the pentatonic scale. Still I don't feel this is a scale of its own, just the diatonic scale leaving away two steps.
my favorit scale for death metal riffs thanks dunn for the video!!!
Yeah the tritone and Phrygian dominant, which is similar, really fit with death metal.
I’m really liking the tritone
I just watched the movie Prometheus the other night. Perfect timing brother. \m/
Awesome movie 🎥
@@DUNN.. Yes it is. I was shocked at how many videos are on Yt that dislike it.
@@sole__doubt I liked the connections with aliens 👽 Ive got it on DVD. I’m a sci fi nerd
@@DUNN.. Same here I have the blu ray and love it. Dont waste your time with Romulus though.

I think these scales are useless. If you wanna do Death Metal riffs, think chromatic!
I’d disagree with that, scales are one component of riffs. Lots of other factors determine genre classifications
