How can we improve MEN(面) strike? Is there more efficient way to practice? Understanding TENOUCHI(手の内) can be a little help.
Let's break it down for better training!
어떻게 해야 머리치기를 더 잘할 수 있을까? 더 효율적인 연습 방법은 없을까? 테노우치를 조금 더 이해한다면 다소간 도움이 될 수 있을 것입니다.
    함께 살펴보시죠!

Star Wars is the reason I started studying Kendo. I love the way you incorporated the two…

Feel the tenouchi! But the moment you attack, it is also the moment you open a gap to be attacked. Could you comment on how we could minimize this?

That's where the Seme comes in. Although it might seem so, striking in Kendo is not a single, isolated event. It should rather be an end result of a good Seme which consequently will break the internals and externals of your opponent. With a good Seme, even if you open yourself to strike, by that time your opponent won't be able to make an effective strike. This is the reason why the referees do not give ippon to many seemingly effective strikes. That is their way of saying "you haven't shown effective Seme and thus allowed your opponent to reposte as soon as you broke your posture and tried to strike." Ippon is not given unless the Yuukou Datotsu (有効打突: effective strike) is preceded by an effective Seme.

@Jin Gave you very good explanation. My opinion is the same. Strike should be the result of SEME, and if your opponent is not broken by your SEME, it is not a chance to attack.
On the other hand, if your opponent is surprised by your SEME, he/ she won't be able to react to your action even though your attack has technical weak point.
May the Fore be with you.

I was wondering if you have a video on kote strikes like a professional 🤩

i have a question, how do you deal with tall people?
i cannot seem to hit the men perfectly when im practicing with my senpai
    i always hit the rails
even worse accidentally push the men back flinging my senpai’s head backwards

    • @kenkichiinkendoworld2664
      @kenkichiinkendoworld2664  2 ปีที่แล้ว

I am quite tall and I can only tell you the type I feel difficult.
The one with Fast step(side-move) and pressure makes me very confused. If you step in to the close distance, where you feel comfortable but your opponent feel too close, faster than your opponent, than a tall people tend to feel uncomfortable and step back. I'd recommend you to aim this moment.

Several sensei told me Shinai shouldn't be raised up that high and no pulling movement when you do small men because it would make your kote be easily targeted
