    Its an incredible bike , I got one myself and all the time is fun , the only problem is the range of the battery in cold wether los almost 25-30% and a bit of power as well
    Nice video 👌🏼👌🏼👍🏼👍🏼 and I h jaave to say this is not a 125cc ,it is in another league is like a 500cc or 600cc maybe 🤷🏽‍♂️

      Yep, so fast! Yes the cold weather affects range and a bit of performance, however given the lack of traction control I don’t push the performance in cold weather. Below 10C I reckon you lose 10% of range and below 0C around 20%. Can’t wait for spring so I can start making more videos on the bike.

    Good summary of the CBT-legal anomaly. FWIW the original CBT-legal 11kW BMW C-evolution electric scooter made 52bhp at the rear wheel on the same dyno that my Suzuki Burgman 650 (with a claimed 55bhp at the crank) only made 42bhp at the rear wheel. In my experience of riding several 14.4kWh Zeroes you have to ride very gently to squeeze 100 miles out of them on open roads and in mixed going 75-80 miles is more realistic. On a motorway, at 70 mph, you'll get even fewer miles, unless you're a midget who's happy to keep your chin on the tank at all times...

      Challenge accepted, next video will be a commuting range test to demonstrate that around town 150 miles of range is easily achievable as my 52 mile round trip only uses up 30% of the battery so actually closer to 170 of range, and that includes several sections of dual carriageway doing 50 mph. I’ll get two days of commuting done and have 40% left but never like to run it for the third day down to 10% in case I need to use the bike to get elsewhere. Just takes too long to charge it back up. Do accept higher speed touring drops the range massively.

    • @swss
      @swss  ปีที่แล้ว

      PNB London, hey buddy said I'd do the commuter challenge, easily got 100 miles with 36% of battery left from commuting (mixture of 40-50 mph dual carriageway and single lane stop start motoring), no special holding back or being gentle just normal riding. that equates to 155 miles of real world range, here's the video hope you enjoy! th-cam.com/video/62TEVHmA9i4/w-d-xo.html

      hi! I plan to ride 240km at summer on the Zero S, I know it will be a challenge so has to make lots of test rides in custom modes less acceleration and low speeds around 30mph if possible.
      I have to use it as a touring bike at summer and have no charge tank.
      If I keep it at 30mph and coast a lot without regen I think I can achieve 240km range.
      Just need to plan my route to avoid high speed roads and use shortest small towns.

    • @swss
      @swss  ปีที่แล้ว

      Nothing wrong with a PCX, but this performance is on another level it has 59 hp vs 15hp max for for a petrol 125cc. This has performance more like a 500 or 600 cc. The PCX does 0-60 in about 15 seconds the Zero less than 5.

      @@swss i understand but i thought the law goes off the top hp so it cant be cbt legal

    • @swss
      @swss  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FattyOn2Wheels it’s the main reason for the vlog, They measure electric motorbikes on a different scale, it’s measured on continuous peak power over 30 minutes, but because the Zero has a limited top speed of 86 (unrestricted it will do 110 ish) it qualifies for CBT but up to 86 mph you have 59 hp. It’s nuts and IMO quite dangerous for a newly qualified rider to be let loose on something this powerful but it is CBT legal. I know you’re sceptical but I rode mine on an L plate - the sport button scared me so I didn’t use it for the first couple of months, but look at the website from Magnet Motos www.magnetmotos.co.uk/electric-motorcycles/zero/zero-11kw-motorcycles/zero-11kw-motorcycles-sports/zero-s
      Clearly says peak power 59 hp continuous power 15 hp. It’s nothing more than a legal loop hole. You should take one for a test ride, it’s bonkers. Stay safe bud!

    What are the costs new compared to second hand

    • @swss
      @swss  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ll come back to you asap if that’s ok as I’m not up to speed on current prices but will ask my contacts.

    • @swss
      @swss  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Riley I note that your profile page you have an L plate on your bike so presume your on a CBT license rather than an A1 or full A.
      The cost of a Zero is expensive to buy but has much lower costs both servicing and cost of electricity vs petrol, in the long run it offsets the upfront cost somewhat, also when you take your test you won’t need to up grade bc in reality it’s not a 125 it’s more like a 500 or 600.
      Second hand one year old bikes start at £8-10 k but be careful buying privately, as a damaged battery is very expensive to replace and although it has a 7 year warranty if the previous owner has invalidated the warranty you’ll have a problem bike you can’t afford to fix. My advice would be contact Ivan at Magnet Motos, he’s very helpful, currently they are offering£1500 off the price of a new bike, be that the S or the cheaper FXE super moto, same motor but smaller battery. www.magnetmotos.co.uk
      Make sure you buy an 11kW version as the unrestricted versions (no difference other than restricted top speed) are not CBT legal and require an A2 license. If you can ride an A2 bike there’s a really cheap one being sold by the English Electric motor Co.
      Hope that helps

      @riley881 ปีที่แล้ว

      @SWSS that's brilliant thank you for all your help and advice I've had a car licence for years and had bikes on and off mainly 125cc as cheap cbt didn't need anything more powerful . I can charge at work for free that's why I was enquiring as my work is around 28 miles away

    • @swss
      @swss  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@riley881 the FXe has a max range of 80 miles the S twice that. The S is a brilliant bike but not cheap. Had mine for almost two years. Really can’t see why I’d want anything faster. Have a friend with a Zero SR/S and honestly on the road the S is just as quick, but wouldn’t be any good on a track due to artificially limited top speed. Where about do you live, as I would recommend you test ride one. If you ride a 125 I’d avoid using the full power in Sport straight away. Scared myself to death when I did, and I’m used to driving very fast cars. Stay safe

      @SWSS I'm Suffolk and the zero s sounds like the one for me etc.. I know the cost is alot more then petrol 125cc but the benefits way out the costs .. also what is bike insurance cost as most people forget that part and hurts them in the wallet after quotes etc I'm guessing it's 10x more then engine bike as its the speed and high value item

    I say it's not enough! I learned on a 1978 Yamaha RD400 that had bisanni pipes and was jetted properly. I got maybe a little less than that maybe 50 horsepower and it was lighter by far than the zero with shitty 70's disc brakes and pads with a crazy 2 stroke powerband and would easily wheelie in 2nd. My friend learned on a brand new 1989 FZR600 which had 89.8 horsepower stock. I say crank it up and let Darwin sort it out. :-).

      Darwin indeed! Unfortunately the laws of the land state Darwin can only ride pillion once a learner has passed the age of 18 or whatever the age is for a proper bike and passed the A2 or full A category before being allowed dance the two wheeled tango to oblivion.
