Justin, if you are making money with it then it doesn't matter how much you have spend to get your job done the best way you can enjoy it and have fun at the same time
As a tail end baby boomer my journey was much different. Electro Harmonix Deluxe Big Muff. Then moved on to a series of early Boss pedals (over drive, chorus, digital delay, flanger, cry baby, and a volume pedal). Then the Roland GP-8 guitar processor, I loved being able to have presets to select. The GP-8 also had a couple extra effects built in I did not have. Entered the modeling world with a Line6 Pod HD300 at a bargain clearance price. Got involved with the worship team 3 years ago and started using my IPad with Jam-Up Pro and discovered the HD300 was better suited. Two years ago purchased the Helix LT. Line6 keeps making that better with their FW updates. I’m happy I got to experience the evolution of effects. I have all my original effects except the Electro Harmonix. I gave that to my big brother very early in my journey. May God bless you. Edit: Cry Baby was not meant to be included with Boss…early morning typing 🙄.
Thanks for sharing Roger!! I think tons of guitarists move through the boss pedals like you did! They’re pretty iconic and reasonably priced I used to have a DD-7 and it was pretty great. I’m still a fan of the OD-1 and DS-1 in certain applications. And yes!! All of the helix stuff sounds great and is only getting better- blessings Roger!
Oh yeah!! Those units are way cheaper for the functionality. It’s definitely the bang for your buck route. And word- it’s not about having the most pedals, but the right ones for you!
That’s a steal…I go with a $4k Kiesel plugged into my $3,500ish pedalboard then into my $2,500 Bad Cat and then (people hate loud) into the $700 Two Notes Torpedo Captor X
Hahaha! I mean I didn’t include the price of my guitars, or my amp when I use it, which would put me in a similar ballpark as you. But I gladly hand you the 👑 for most expensive gear 🤘🏻
I haven't yet! Partly because I actually like the way it sounds currently. Also partly because I don't want to pry it off my board and undo cables to get to the USB port LOL. The samples I've seen sound great though!
Just get a Helix, A Pinstripe or Canvas and Run a Few of your Favourite Drive and or Modulation Pedals, And you've got a Pretty Awesome Sounding Rig for a Great Price...
The Multi FX and modelers are definitely incredible bang for your buck. They’re also logistically smarter for live shows. That’s why I got a Quad Cortex for touring-
Wow, it’s been a while since I “visited” my “analog” pedalboard for the last time, but I honestly have one question, since I been using the infamous QC n I know you own one, how would u frankly compare this beast u just presented to the QC, meaning the practicality and tone wise too…cheers mate, nice solid board!
Yo!! Fair question. Tonally, I think the pedalboard can't be beat. Everything feels richer and more organic somehow. It's really the delays for me. Those sound so much better on the board to my ear. I think that's why, when I'm at home, I always play through it. However, I don't gig with it any more because logistically, it just doesn't make sense. That's where the QC wins. It's really high quality audio and fx. It's easier to travel with, and smarter, and easier to replace on the road than the pedalboard would be.
@@JustinMuncy I see your point…I guess I’m too lazy to even have my board put together again haha they all in their boxes put away in the closet 😅 everything got started in 2019 when I bought the Headrush Pedalboard, 2 years later I got my hands on the QC and never touched my heads, cabinets and pedals anymore…my back, arms and “mind” thank me since to me, the QC would achieve 95/100 compared to the real thing (not considering “amp in the room” feel). Anyways, thanks a lot for your honest opinion bro!
Honestly It seems like the most perfect pedalboard ever to exist to me. Unfortunately, I'll probably only ever be able to afford a QC. Even if it gets close, its still not as good tho.
Thank you so much homie!! It’s been a great rig for me. But yeah, I can’t imagine spending all of that at one time. I collected these over the course of years. And I wouldn’t say the QC isn’t as good. I’m not sure if you’ve checked out my most recent QC videos, but I’ve gotten it to sound really really solid now. Far better than I did in the can it replace my pedalboard video! I really think you can make just about anything sound good if you try!
This looks like a video that says I work part time at Walmart, play in a church group, and live at my parents for free look at my expensive gear. Like none of that stuff is necessary and I hope that kids watching this understand the most important part of playing the guitar is picking it up and playing it. This stuff can just augment what you play it doesn’t make a bad player sound good. Get good and buy 20 dollar pedals, you will still sound amazing, these are just tools that can help a gigging musician by making it easier to go from sound to sound for a specific song.
HA!! That's such a departure from the walmart comment. But indeed, gear can get so expensive. You must have some great stuff in amongst the things you've bought!
Like my USC Professor so eloquently stated, "It costs a lot of money to be cool..." What's in your rig? Love y'all!
Just discovered your channel. Great content! So, where's the tuner?
Thanks man! It's built into the RJM. When I hit the mute switch, the tuner comes on.
Bro, I knew I recognized you! Eastwest!
Duuudddeee! I think that was back in 2012/2013 I think! Like 11 years ago! How are you?
Any thoughts on the strymon volante? I got it instead because I also only use tape settings on delays
Ahhhh I haven’t tried it yet so I can’t say. But I think it looks really cool haha!
Phenomenal video, gear, editing and advice! Great personality as well🙌💪👏All for best and really enjoyed it!
Thank you so much!! I really appreciate all of the kind words and encouragement! Likewise-
@@JustinMuncy too kind! Is the QC your Go-To? I’m about to bite the bullet

So now we know a Helix, QC, or Fractal FM9 can actually save you money. I like the "save up and get what you really want" advice.
Oh yeah!! Those units are way cheaper for the functionality. It’s definitely the bang for your buck route. And word- it’s not about having the most pedals, but the right ones for you!
My rig: Used iPhone S ($70) BIAS FX ($50) Harley Benton TE-40 TBK ($128) BAM!!
Haha! Let's go!!! Affordable and versatile-
@@JustinMuncy Tis the poor person's rig hahaha in all seriousness, sounds better than you'd expect. Gotta love technology! haha
LOL word. Digital Guitar FX have come so far. You can make anything sound good now-
that's a wonderful rig.

I love my V2 Moonshine. The blend is invaluable.
Nice!!! Is that blend knob for the clean signal + dirty signal?
@@JustinMuncy yup! I stack it behind my Wampler Belle (Nobles circuit) for dialing in the midrange bump from the Moonshine (TS circuit).

Who is saying that the gear is necessary? It’s a matter of what YOU can afford and what sound YOU are going for. This is an embarrassing comment.
Use tone x ONE !! 😄
If they send me one, I will gladly use it!
But....what about your QC...? 😉🤷🏻
Haha! I just that for live gigs! This is what I use for all of my arrangement and recording stuff-
$5000 for your board seems pretty reasonable to me, considering the over 20k I’ve spent on gear😂
