      Where do you get your gasket stock from. I had to make one for my generator on my RV, I searched high and low and nobody cared sheets of gasket stock.

      I have a question. The jeans I'm designing & sewing have a curve on the inseam. Will the Feed off the arm machine and folder sew straight through it?

    It is very rewarding getting hands into a piece of technology for first time and setting it back together and making it work. I have a few words that I always remind myself of; "the wheel has already been invented, all we have to do is know how to use it."

    I love old vintage machines. It was great seeing how you cleaned/restored this machine. Old machines are so nostalgic and they seem to come with great memories whether you knew the previous owner or not.

    Very cool old machine, great video !! You have taught me a ton. I have bought a bargain Consew 206rb and now a used but still new seiko sth-8bld for 1/3 of new price since I started watching. I am doing marine and RV canvas and upholstery. Thanks for the sharing of your knowlage. I got super bargains on my two machine partly because I had learned the ins and outs from you and what was what. I got great equipment that is perfect for what I do now. I still have my 2006 sailrite lsz-1 that has served me well and I like it a lot too.

    amazing. i love good old strong machines, so much parts and metal for one simple operation it has to do, you know you buy this machine for life time !
    How did you come up with this hobby? how do you know to track your disassemble to be able to reassemble it all together?
    do you have knowledge in Mechanism engineering ? do you have any books recommends to achieve knowledge like this? i like sewing, i sew all kinds - army heavy equipment to clothes and hats but i will never forget my first machine (duerkopp adler 267) i had it first in the army, i had two of the same kind and that's when my roman begin with sewing machines. i was amazed by the quality of it, i loved how this machine was meant to be maintained and parts are replaceable, i loved the forces it can handle. since than i got new plastic domestic machine which i hate but what can you expect its like riding a horse and shifting to a donkey.. :)

    @alexanderdyer I’ve recently acquired one of these for my in-apartment makeshift workshop. Unfortunately it didn’t come with the mount or motor. I’m sure I could figure something out with a servo mounted on the custom table top I’ve made to be able to fit the multiple machines I have into the small space I have for them in the second bedroom, alas I have no idea how to mount the FOTA machine and it didn’t come with the base. How were you able to manage to fit the one in this video on? Did it come like that or did you do it custom? Any help is appreciated, I’d really like to get this working!

    Hi Alexander, I have always enjoyed your videos. We have two new old stock Union Special 35800dnu9 machines purchased a while back and another 35800 all set up for jeans with felled folder. I admire this machine....what a beauty. I'm curios is there a reason why you don't use blue loctite in the re assembling process? I saw one of your Merrow 60 class videos and had wondered what you are using for cleaning and after watching this now know it's diesel.....smart move and never heard of others using it they all use kerosene. I'm on the hunt for a Union Special flat lock machine myself 36200 series. They are pretty common. Best regards, Mike

    • @AlexanderDyer
      @AlexanderDyer  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Blue Loctite? Is that part of the original assembly? I don't know, I don't usually use locktite on sewing machines but then I am no expert. Would red be better? I have seen the kerosene used and that gave me the idea for diesel, I have diesel, I don't have kerosene. 🙂Thanks Mike.

    Hi, I have just bought a used 5-7yr old Juki DDL 8700, and I have a servo motor problem. When you press the foot pedal, it won't stitch -unless you nudge it along with the handwheel. I took the belt off to see if I got the engine wheel to turn when I press the foot pedal to determine a tension issue with the belt, but again, the wheel will only turn if I nudge it along with my hand. Question is; can I repair the servo motor, could there be an electrical glitch or a connection issue between the foot pedal and the engine? Or am I better off just replacing the motor?? What is your experience? Many thanks in advance!
