    Another excellent video. You remind me of détails I might overlook, at times. Who ever would have know there were so many needle systems ? I finally learned this a while ago, but it did surprise me. Pointing out the scarf and that it needs to be near the hook as it passes by is so important. Thanks for the great review. Keep up your excellent work.

    Kudos for comprehensive explanations of what goes wrong. I can't say how happy I am find this comprehensive explanation.
    I would love a whole play list on making minor adjustments, and why things are set up as they are. I was hoping you would do the same kind of explanation on thread/needle size. EG: what it looks like when the needle is too big or too small. It would it be helpful to know when to try the needle a size up or down.
    Ditto on timing. I go by the book and the machine works pretty well, but still misses a few stitches... Where to now?
    I would be glad to feed you a whole series of questions like this. I am newish, and these answers are so hard to find.

    It shows that you put a lot of time and effort to film this. Well done!
    With the different needle and thread sizing systems in use in the workd, it becomes difficult to all have the same references.

    Great video! I lost the needle bar screw to my Singer 151W1 walking foot 🤯 help !! I can’t find one online and I have tried other screws from my vintage singers and nothing works 😭

    Great video ! What amazing timing too :) My new machine has been shipped and I’ve been searching needles and thread. Walking foot machine is new experience after owning so many domestics. Your explanation of the needle and placement is clear and easy to understand. This ole lady always learning something new.

    I've never understood why some (most) needle systems make it possible to insert needles incorrectly. It seems so simple to just have the shank flattened on one side the way it is on most domestic machines. Any idea why other needle systems don't do this?

    Mr Dyer. Do you mind if I ask, Have you any experience good or bad of this device.... Buttonhole Attachment for Industrial Machine ?
    I am unable to attach a picture. Looks slightly like the time machine in the classic film.

    How do you know when a needle needs to be replaced with a new one?

    • @AlexanderDyer
      @AlexanderDyer  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Some of the things I covered are Bent, Damaged, wrong size for your thread, sewing machine not stitching properly, improperly installed, wrong needle. Hope this helps you.

  • @jimwilliams5844
    @jimwilliams5844 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    The needle is such an important part of the sewing knot process. If you put a sharpie pen mark on the the thread, you will see that the mark on the thread will travel through the eye of the needle about 31 times, before it becomes incorporated into the knot.
    When needles get worn out they become abrasive to the thread and fray the thread, or melt the thread. Change the needle first on a machine that is working poorly...
