  • James Rolfe, Doug Walker (Nostalgia Critic), Andre Meadows (Black Nerd Comedy) go to the massive Galloping Ghost arcade, and play Superman, Batman, TMNT, Q-bert, Judge Dredd, The Punisher, Pit Fighter, Cadillacs and Dinosaurs, Marvel Vs Capcom 2, Real Ghostbusters, Street Fighter, Michael Jackson's Moonwalker, Godzilla, Battletoads, and most importantly... Ninja Baseball Batman!
    Sorry the audio is not that great. This was a quick production. We didn't have time for lav mics.

    I really miss PROPER arcades like this one I remember as a kid from the 80's/90's. All they seem to be these days, in the UK at least, is 10% crappy new games and the other 90% gambling/fruit machines.

      I live on the east coast in England. We have our own, basically bootleg Vegas strip XD All the neon lights and stuff and the coast on the other side of the street. However, Yarmouth is pretty dirty, half run down lame area so it's all wrong. That, and the arcades inside those fancy buildings all suck! 2P machines galore. The best you'll find is like a modernised new version of Pacman that pukes tickets every second. And Guitar Hero. Such a shame.
      ...Not that Guitar Hero is bad. Just, the classic stuff should rule! Personally, Punch-Out and Robotron are my favourites.

    God I miss arcade culture, I practically lived in arcades during my youth. They were a perfect place for dudes to bond and have fun together, kind of like a sports locker room but for guys that weren't interested in sports. Truly a missed social space.

    • @Tacoyaki96

      I frequent a japanese style arcade in my area called round 1, and arcade culture is alive and well, but people do not give a shit about how the machines are treated, not even the workers. I was playing a rhythm game that requires a touch screen and some jackass keyscratched some graffiti on the screen, it's fucking disguisting. The real problem with arcades in america is how little people respect them. You want the best arcade experience, you go to japan. Much more respect there, when i was in akihabara at club sega, ALL the machines looked brand new and played flawlessly. America is disgusting i tell ya.

    • @DrJuice1
      @DrJuice1 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      yeah right, man. f that. the arcade was a place for the older kids to bully younger kids by blocking them from playing the games or the assholes who were so good at the game that they just stood there at the same machine for hours. if you wanted to even have a chance of playing, you'd have to get there early in the day.

    • @tartrazine5
      @tartrazine5 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah, when I went to one of Toronto's last arcades a decade ago, I looked around and went "OH, so THIS is why they have laws about how many games you can have in one place!". It looked skeezy as hell. Most of the "arcades" I liked as a kid were just places that had arcade games, but weren't real arcades - bowling alleys, Chuck E Cheese ripoffs, etc.

James got his movie into one of the biggest Hollywood theaters in the world and even got Lloyd Kaufman and George Romero, two gods of movie making on his shows. Doug managed to do a review of Dragon's Lair with Don Bluth himself. And Andre is now the new blue ranger.

    Arcades were epic and probably the best part of my childhood. Still find it hard to believe that I was a part of the ONLY generation in history to grow up with them. That blows my mind, back then I assumed arcades were always gonna be around and just get more and more epic in the future. Sadly I was wrong and they mostly died *sniff* :'((

      Speaking as someone who made a trip to Chicago just to see this place a couple years ago, it wasn't SUPER packed when I went but it does good business. They constantly get new arcade games in and fix them up, and often do events (usually involving Mortal Kombat since the Midway studios used to be in pretty close proximity to the arcade).

    • @corn1971
      @corn1971 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Place is huge with about 400 games. Most arcades back in the day only had a few dozen games.
      They were probably there on a weekday during the day. Went there this past summer during the day which was great because with the 20-30 people in there you pretty much had an endless supply of games to play.

    • @mrcyberpunk
      @mrcyberpunk 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      probably a good thing considering most of them will just crowd the street fighter 2 and mortal kombat machines. At least that's what my memory of the arcade was. Yes they were good games, but like, there were OTHER games. The best was if your arcade had a long Daytona machine, because then everyone could play.
