Excellent video again thanks for sharing a good system the main man did a excellent job as always
I would personally say this is probably the best handling system you’ve trialled so far and I do love the concertina gates
I've a Rappa, similar to Pratley . I found them easier to deal with
.
Thanks for another great video. Really good to see different handling systems in action….without a sales pitch. Keep them coming
Robbie never fails to make me laugh 😆 thanks both!!
on other set ups i've seen, the gate you wanted on a hinge is actually hung from a bracket and has a rope to raise and lower it with more ease, or even from a little distance
Could I ask Robbie to do a recitation of Tne old Priest Peter Gilligan ..
I"d say he must have heard it in his time
Great video David that’s the best sheep race you’ve tried out some piece of kit 👌
Ye are both funny and very enjoyable hardworking men. Thank you.
We have used prattley yards in NZ for 40+ years, excellent system. If you have a strong stock proof on one side you will cut down on the panels needed, if the panels are zig, zaged they will be less likely to fall over. You can use flexi netting or a scrim as a wing to help yarding up
Nice that you get to try these different kinds but I think having the squeeze part is a must have part I’m sure the whole process really helps save your body which in the end is the most beneficial take it from somebody who is in a chair from working to hard when younger I thought it would keep me healthy the joke was on me take care and Robbie is a great person 😊nice weather for a change thank goodness hope it’s not hot like here been 98 can’t really work hard without dying 😂
Prattley (like all others) have a squeeze/clamp option. Not cheap. These yokes are about mobility. Taking yard to sheep rather than other way round. Handy bit of kit. Shame it doesn't come with additional panelled race as standard like the rappa. Regardless thumbs up from me
This is the best one yet you have demonstrated. It also seems a bit more affordable.
Yes. A very good system..
very nice work,
Good stuff
Great job , great video 👍
Thanks 👍
Great system of the accordion gates
Probably best feature of this system 👌
Keep it country Robbie😂, looks a good race, no sure about doing click in the race no sure their back end is getting proper cover but each to their own, liked the gate run out and the gate supports, thanks for sharing Davie enjoyed the video
Will you do an over all video of all the units with the pros and cons and prices
Seems a bit complicated but each one has its own pros and cons. Watched a friend using a Te Pari which seemed good but, hell of a price.
Absolutely pros & cons to each one. It's a little like choosing sheep breeds. Which ever one suits your system....
@sheepschool cant you do a lot of your treating through the water with a dosatron setup? Be a lot easier than catching and running the sheep through a handling system 5 times a year. We do it here in Canada with cattle, horses, turkeys and chickens that i know of for sure .
Off topic question for any sheep farmer reading this.
How many acres needed for 10 ewes plus lambs?how much silage/hay needed for same amount per year?how much acres needed for the required amount of silage/hay?how many bags of nuts needed per year?
Used click extra on lambs two weeks ago. The following day they were all scratching and biting themselves. It’s reduced greatly now but not fully stopped. Have you seen this before .
it not only women in farming that don't want extremely heavy equipment - worldwide the average age of a male farmer is now 60 years old and that figure is from 2016 - they either need lighter weight equipment (not flimsy wrong word David) or motorised like Te Pari - the budget and size of operation people have will depend on the system that is purchased
Great job.makes the job that bit handier and best of all spares the back.robbie could buy u that for a present😂😂😂.hope the sale in Dundalk goes well for u.
The ESB pension is not that good 😜
@@sheepschool365 that's what he is telling u😄😀🥳.get under the mattress and u will be surprised 😲😄😀
I have had a prattley and a scotpen mobile system and the prattley wins hands down. I hear the rappa system is very similar to the prattley but the alligator system is not as good but I suppose its all personal preference
Good video ❤
Thanks 😁
Man himself some operator
👍
Interesting
The accordion style panels looks like a huge advantage, Was it as easy to put back in the towing configuration as it was to initially set up?
Yeah, that was my question, too. My guess is that, since the gates are so light, they probably reassembled fairly easily if two people are around to do it.
How long to set up and what price
What blouses are you using and why ?
Have you tried any of the Sheepeze products?
Nice
Thanks
First
forgot to clarify: the gate is hung off the bracket by rope and pulley
if there was buttons on it, Robbie could knock out a tune on it..
One thing I notice is that without Robbie keeping the chute filled and opening and closing that back gate the job would take double the time or more..not a one man set up
Just a question. Why do u use bolus on lambs
I only have them in for a dose every 6 weeks or so and a drench only last for 2 weeks. Plus a mineral drench at the same time as a dose is not recommended. Trying the bolus this year to see if it makes any difference with the growth rates..
It's a shame there isn't a 'squeeze" section. It might make giving the boluses easier.
Definitely would make it easier. Hard work in a race..
So, how can I get this in the US?
Sorry I really can't help you with that but I would be surprised if Prattley sheep equipment was not available in the US.
