is it better for the sheep and the digestion of them . hi oliver, nice to see you smile. i do agree with oliver , that if you can get a option , you have go with it. if it makes a difference or not. but as someone once said. every little helps. yes i know , not always true. so you realise that your animals do cost you money. but , you still want a good price when you sell. im with you sam. for the amount you have done with your animals, you should get more back. you do the job. i remember sheep going out on kale. they stank. and were a complete mess. the weather dont help.
Great video Sam aye your right nothing is cheap nowadays especially in farming but as you said you need to feed them well now before lambing and a nice wee calf too 👌👌
great to see Oliver winding you up, the glint in his eyes when he was talking fodder beet PMSL. its expensive making sure you get the best product to put on peoples table, and a good market price.
I absolutely agree Sam I went shopping last night & literally just 3 bags & £117 later I was shocked I used to get a whole trolley full of stuff for that , I spent half of that just on washing powder comfort & vanish £15 disgusting, thank you Sam & Oliver who makes me laugh bless him , & Dora is a nice name for her ❤
We don't cross with leister, we pure them all because we have to have replacements for the farm amd cross some with texel to get the texdales you see that we brought home on my latest vid. They are texdales we keep
It is a tough time of year to be working out costs when winter is dragging on! I would try to look at it in terms of cost per ewe per year which might help you see what sort of margin can be had from your lambs, and the good thing there is a great scanning percentage which means the hard work is paying off in terms of having productive sheep. If you're worried about energy and protein status you could get half a dozen twin-carrying sheep blood sampled . I don't know if you use Pendragon Vets, Richard there was a housemate of mine at vet school, he'll see you right. 👌🏼
Yes we use pendragon 👍am sure they will be getting enough of each. Yes suppose scanning went well so let's hope the percentage of lanbs survive. That wild stormy week last year a lot of our best beltex lambs took a hit. Didn't bother the cheviots🤣 beltex lambs be the first to go in July/August
my late gran's name was Dora......so i'll be thinking of her now everytime i see your pup😃 i sometimes wonder if it's worth doing costings.........it always seems pretty depressing......a bit like doing your accounts at the end of the year just to find out you've made a loss or if you make a profit there's some tax to pay
Hosepipe ban cancelled then. I'd give good money to see Oliver and Richard from Dove Farm have it out with the blasted politicians and supermarket bosses. Stand back and let the fun develope.

Great video Sam great how you explained breakdown costs think aye would be putting more batteries in the calculator lol.
Haha 🤣🤣🤣
Like the name , did I see some sunshine ☀. I must be a sheep I like beets 😅
The new calf looks good and strong.
The finances of farming as explained by you seems to prove that you aren't in it to make a fortune !
There isn't any fortune to be made no😂 just love farming. Otherwise, wouldn't do it x
I like the pup's name

Oliver 🤣😂
what about if it came in a pulp. any cheaper. prob not.
Your sheep seem to take to the fodderbeet quickly , have they had it before ?
We used fodderbeet last year when they started lambing, and mainly after they have Lambed 👍
@@Sam-shutt cheers for the feedback might try some myself , as you say feed prices are scary 🫣
@user-tf3ki1bo5m they love it and its cheaper than most things 🤣
I never work out my feed costing as i need to feed them anyway, if i worked it out you would lock the gate and go home.
I just like to add it up even though they're getting it anyway. Doesn't make a difference, but it's nice to do .
Hope u have a lot of good lambs wen it comes time to sell
Fodderbeet is called voederbiet (feedbeet) in Dutch.
That's interesting!

mucadelenın karsılını alırsın fazla uzulme hersey duzelır
Get some treacle, lick buckets are watered down with filler.
Could you get subscribers to sponsor a lick bucket each?
That's a great idea 💡
Maybe you’re better not to count I’m sure Oliver doesn’t count
He doesn't 🤣🤣 dosnt like to think about the money 🤣 just got to do it anyway
