Lovely to see the old tradition of Luck penny still being carried on .......... The buyer cannot determine what the luck penny should be, thats left up to the generosity of the seller . The seller should not give back to the buyer any of the money he has just received from the buyer ,but other different money , and if you can there should be a bit of jingle in it . But look , Robbie knew all this anyway .....,
I bred for and sold tups for years as part of my sheep business, terminal and maternal. Terminal always brought more than maternal. I think a maternal ram is worth more, personally, as he's the cornerstone of a flock. Great video.
Davie have you tried that Fug for washing your sheep, if Daz does not whiten it or Tide does not Brighten in Fug it 😂😂, looked a great job Davie well done my friend
Good job David! Its always interesting to see market values from different countries. Recently my family purchased a chev/texel at 500 a Suffolk at 800 and a chev at 1500. Breeding season has begun in western Canada!
Good stuff David , well done .I think a lot of society inspections are a bit tight and ive always found that beltex rams with a patch or 'spec' of brown or black wool to be the best carcase lamb producers , in a sheep world with so many coloured varieties of breeds , its something we should not get hung up on , its the carcase and feet we should put more focus on . I've never ate the hair of a sheep in my life.
@@JohntyNich yes , that's true , perhaps a good ram overlooked as a breeders ram them becoming a real value as a commercial lamb breeder.hey I've bought them all and personally feel you need to no as much about the seller as you do about the sheep, it can be a steep learning curve.
Always a time for something to happen when your rushing about. Thankfully our electrics are really sensitive to damp conditons so I'd hope that would save me 🙏
Just been watching Kiwi Farmer here in NZ (YT channel) he has started lambing - outside lambin and the weather is great 0 overnight and around 14 degrees during the day (mid winter here in NZ) - he has had the vet out to mineral check his sheep (and cattle) to see how that is looking - he is mineral checking as his late lambing group was only 133% which is really low for NZ - mineral results due back this week so will be interested to see how that goes - NZ soil is known to be mineral deficient
Well done it’s not easy to bring out a sheep to a sale much less 10 , I have never been to a sale in carrick on Shannon but some very well known breeders were there and they seem to have brought out good stock. Is everyone up your neck of the woods called David? Regards from Wicklow.
Well done David, always a nervy day sale day!! Rams looked grand ay, your right to be proud of them, all the best
Cheers Adam, scanning and selling will make any sheep farmer nervous 😉

Best video in the channel by far.👍
Glad you enjoyed this one 👌

Agree 100% on the ram and without good maternal females in a flock it's a tough road...
Grand plan! I feel it will be successful.
Jesus David, that’s an awful lot of hard work for your rams. Well done on a great job.👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Cheers Deirdre. I've been told there's easier way to make money but sure would I be as happy 😊
Great video David. Showing the ups and downs of selling tups, congratulations on your tups they look very good
Thanks very much, well said with "ups and downs'. Hasn't always gone to plan...

Well done David the cream always comes to the top. A rising tide lifts all boats. Great video.
Cracking video as always David. Sunday’s wouldn’t be the same without a sheep school video
Thanks Paddy, glad you enjoyed it...
Nice work mate, I’d buy those lads you had left over. An ideas why some sold and some didn’t? Good job getting a few off after 👌👌
I'm pretty sure it was because my lots were so early in the sale and quite a few buyers were late due to Friday evening traffic...
Davie have you tried that Fug for washing your sheep, if Daz does not whiten it or Tide does not Brighten in Fug it 😂😂, looked a great job Davie well done my friend
Thank you George, never head of that.. Drop me an email if you get a chance: sheepschool2022@gmail.com

well done in tullamore and at the sale David!
Good prices David - nothing wrong with those figures - congratulations on a great sale day
Thanks very much 😊

Would that partly be down to the fact that you were able to buy a better ram for the same price? Sensible though 👍

So that what brown wool looks like. Always heard the Lleyn inspection were particular on brown hair but could never see whatcit looks like. 👍
A very well done for price's.
Very particular on rams for breeding as it could only come from mixing with other breeds back a few generations I believe..
Robbie mccrae 🤠🤠 great vid
Robbie doesn't hang about when the pressure is on🤣
Great video 👍
Great video however, I would be very careful when using your electric clippers. You were standing in water, a great way to get electrocuted!
Shed protected by RCD and wired to reci standards.

Great video David saw you in tullamore today
Thanks 👍
Tough day wrestling sheep in the heat today but well worth it....🔥

Good videos, I watch him from time to time and I'll definitely check that one out! Some of our land can be very low in minerals also..
You will have the tipex out for the brown hair next year😂
🤣🤣
David great video just have a question how many sheep are you bringing to roscommon
Thank you Charlie. Bringing 150 hogget ewes, 20 ewe lambs and 6 rams. Might see you there?
Thanks for telling me that hope to see you there
Well done was that your first big show
It was my first big sale which was not a Lleyn sale 👍

There was 4 David's in my class in school...😉 Extremely good stock in the sale 👌
You finally get paid fer your lambs that you have put so much work into.
It is nice to hit it lucky sometimes 👌
Where is your sheep stick David?
What do you wash them with?
They were dipped a week previously. Washed head and legs with purple whitening shampoo..
What's he the teeth and bollock expert
He knew his stuff
