  • Howdy Folks, welcome to a new series of videos where I give you my take of How To / Tutorial on certain vehicles and things to fix on them. I am by no means a professional or certified mechanic, I'm just doing this for fun and helping anyone out that I can if they need it. There are better tutorials out there on how to do this, I just wanted to do my own with my shenanigans.
I had the pleasure of meeting the wonderful owners of this awesome 21' Ram 3500 and learning how to change the oil & filter, and fuel filters on this bad boy.
Make sure to check out Dean & Carly on their Instagram account as they travel across the United States and their adventures. I was truly blessed to meet them and have the great pleasure of calling them life long friends now.

Thanks for the video! I have a 2021 3500 turbo diesel 4x4. How much did everything cost you (filters and oil)?

So it was my buddies truck. He bought everything, I just serviced it.
Best place for all filters I’ve found is Geno’s Garage online. It’s the best price for legit (not fake) Mopar brand products. Excellent company supplier. They are the only ones I use for my diesel needs when I service rams for clients.
For one Ram, being 2 fuel filters, 1 oil filter, 3 gallons of oil, & 1 air filter. Roughly $270. Prices fluctuate at times due to supply.
I plan to do another tutorial on a different 6.7L that shows everything better in the near future, with prices and all.

Nicely done my friend. Reminds me of doing oil changes on diesels at the Ford dealer many moons ago. I didn't like it then and wouldn't want to now lol!

It was definitely a different animal for me for sure. I honestly had more trouble with the dang fuel filters than the oil. Definitely gonna try and get a proper video of those fuel filters someday. 😁

Wrong oil, that engine takes T6

My buddy bought the oil at the time. I just serviced it.
I’ve used T6 on many others since then however as your right. 😎🤘🏻

Dang dude. Magnet works well for fishing. 3/8” socket wrench (no socket needed) will take that plug off. Don’t use a 12 point socket on those fuel filters…you can round off that plastic!

      Appreciate the tips.
Was definitely not my finest work. 😅 Thanks for watching. 🤘🏻

@@wittysgarage thanks for putting it out there! I was looking to see how many people on TH-cam prefilled their oil filters. I have heard both ways. I just learned from my dad to prefill them

@@Steadierpark not a bad thing to do at all. I’ve always learned to pre-fill / soak the filters as well, so now it’s second nature upon an oil change. I’m hoping to redo this tutorial in the near future to make it more straightforward and a quick guide. And make sure to check my channel in the next year, I’m planning on having many more oil change tutorials when I am able to record. ✌🏻

Putting oil in the oil filter is an old diesel thing. Not really needed anymore! Good looking truck though.

      Thanks for the insight.🤘🏻😎
I think it’s more out of habit for me to do so. I always have this worry in the back of my mind of a “dry start” with the filter not soaked every time I do an oil change. 😂😂 Maybe I’m just loony. Lol
Thanks for watching. Appreciate the support.

Of course. I understand that. I have changed the oil in several diesel trucks over the years. I can understand how that could be a habit. Do you, and/or have you worked in a diesel mechanic shop?

    • @wittysgarage
      @wittysgarage  ปีที่แล้ว

@@JackHolden-vs3cg , nope. Never worked in any mechanic shop or auto anything. Just learned from a good friend of mine over the years and hundreds of hours of TH-cam learning how vehicles work. 😎🤘🏻
