Next oil change, try Aeroshell W100 (50wt) the old girl has generous clearances most likely everywhere.
Putting 5w-30 syn. Oil in a 60 year old car is asking for trouble. The car was designed to run 30 w or 20w depending on time of year. A syn oil in an old car will encourage leaks every where. I would drain the oil and put in a straight 30w. This is from experience.
@@terrylandburg6038 leaks are bound to happen with anything we do with this car at this point sadly. 😅 At least it got some fresh golden goodness for now. 😎 I’m sure someone will switch it to a thicker weight down the road. 😁 I did read on 4 different forums about the 225ci of other people using 5w-30 with good results so that’s why I initially went with that, and figured it might help clean out more deposits by getting into every crevice. 💪🏻🤘🏻 Appreciate you watching. Hope you enjoyed. 😊
Hell of a job man! Cheers from not too far away in Southern Alberta!
@@staceyrenner5418 Appreciate it. Oh heck yeah! Not too far at all. 😎
@@wittysgarage No sir lol, only about 3 hours or so lol.
@@staceyrenner5418 nice. 💪🏻
amazing video
Glad the oil is getting changed but in my opinion and past experiences these old slant 6’s do not like synthetic oil… It only will speed up their death. But I’m glad it getting passed around from channel to channel and that it’s getting lots of love and attention from a lot of people! 😃👍
@@heavensmopars hopefully it will get it by for the time being and someone can change it out again down the road and keep it fresh for as long as possible. 😎 Super cool for you to have donated it too. It’s definitely an awesome project. 😁💪🏻
@@wittysgarage sounds good, I love the idea behind Stone Soup! Vic is really onto something here! 🤔😃
You are a wonderful son. May God richly bless you for honoring your father in such a beautiful way.
With all the issues Jamie had with fuel, hat would surely explain the gas in the oil. The self tapping bolt has been explained! Nice to see the progress!!
I think you are the first person to change the oil on this car in years. The car has never started very well and the carb was changed when DDG had the car. And there you go with Mobil 1 and filter. The engine will be like new!
New subscriber here. This could be interesting. I like it 👍
@@truckgp7078 I appreciate your subscription and watching the video, really helps the channel. It’s my dream truck for a daily so I will be going all in until it’s done. 😎💪🏻
Gas in the oil is ost likely a bad diafram in the fuel pump. The oil plug is a self taping plug.
Good stuff, yeah, trying to start a car dumping gas down the yap and no sprk make your oil very gassy. And that's a self tapping oil pan plug.. That car has ..history :)
Hey Young Man, you are making progress and going forward. That is great, keep up the good work!
Thanks, will do!
Damn........I remember that story from a LONG time ago......
Did they change the formulas of synthetic oils? Synthetic in older cars always made things a leak factory with older weaker seals for me.
@@6percentrecycled could definitely be a problem at some point with leaks. I think someone is going to do the seals/gaskets down the road though. Something for everyone to keep in mind when taking hold of the rig. 😎 It has certainly started leaking on my dads ‘86 and will be doing the gaskets on the 300 at some point.
@@wittysgarage 👍
Generally it's a bad idea. 5w-30 synth is going to wash out the rope seal on the rear of the engine most likely. The detergency and light weight oil does great things for new engines, but experience does not speak well of switching the diet from good old fashion dino juice. Still better than running gas instead of oil, so keep up the good effort!
@@KimPassable I do expect to see some leaking issues down the road but I’m hoping someone to get into this engine a lot deeper and possibly replace the rope seal and others. 😎 Most definitely better than running fuel as lubricant. 😅 Appreciate you watching and commenting. 😁🤘🏻
That's gonna be a smooth looking truck.
Alcohol fuels are eating up old mechanical fuel pumps now. Fuel leaks past the alcohol-made-brittle broken rubber diaphragm in the pump and fuel dumps into the crankcase.
How far do you have to drive it to pass it off on the next victim?
@@OldBeaters72 about 400ish miles, give or take a few. Definitely gonna be a long one.
I wanted to watch the video but this dude boring af.
@@apocolypse11 can’t please everyone I guess. 😅
@@wittysgarage lol all good
@@wittysgarage the trolls love an excuse to be critical.
Thanks👍👍👍👍👍
@@jonluchessi1643 my pleasure. Glad it helped. 😎
Quick question, when you replaced the drain plug, did you need a new crush washer? Thanks for the video!
@@captaingrumpus1207 I did not need a new crush washer. A lot of people will say they need replaced every time because they won’t be as efficient at making a seal but it takes ALOT of use of taking it on & off to break down and not be efficient. 😎👍🏻
I had a 225 that had so much blow by that it’d push oil out the dipstick tube and the oil pan gasket I pulled the head and it had ridges the thickness of a business card but it still ran for years like that. These engines never say die
@@DennisPrescott-xp4dk it’s definitely an awesome & interesting motor. Hope it gets to its full potential again down the road. 😎
You might look at the fuel pump for leaking fuel into the oil.
🪨🍲™✓
Love the ford emblem on a dodge. It kinda looks like a Mercury Comet of the same era!
@@big2868 that it does. 😎😅
I know that the problem is. It ain’t got no gas in it.
@@malakigray6682 🤦🏼♂️😅 HA HA HA…
This is the coolest project ever!
@@bubbagray9383 very much so. I’m excited that it is happening. 😎
Flooding the engine will cause fuel in the oil. Also, a bad mechanical fuel pump will dump gas in the oil. Is the mechanical pump still connected?
@@Raycr it’s still connected but not in use. Guys before me switched it over to a electric pump. That would make sense though with the flooding. 👍🏻
@@wittysgarage I didn't remember if Jamie still had fuel going through the mechanical pump
@@Raycr I don’t believe so but could be mistaken. Should definitely be on someone’s list to look at when it gets to there shop. 😁
Good
That drain plug is a repair plug to retap new threads in the pan. The gas is probably from a bad carb.
@@NathansMoparGarage oh gotcha. That’s really cool and good to know. I have changed many vehicles oil over the years and that was my first time seeing that style plug. 😎🤘🏻 Would not disagree with ya on the carb. 😅
Hmmmm ... The fuel in the oil could be the piston rings aren't sealing properly.
@@thejunkyardnecromancer possibly. 🤔
Thank you for another informative video.
My pleasure.
I always clean off the top of the airbox, because it let's see the dirt that is in the filter
@@turbotom416 very good point. This one didn’t seem as bad so I didn’t bother. But that is definitely something to keep in mind to do. Good practice. 🤘🏻
That looks like a great supply for an oil burning heater in the garage for the cold months. 🛠️
@@HammerWrench I actually asked around locally before I took it to the landfill but had no takers. I would definitely like to put an oil burner in the shop I plan to build someday. 😎
Which one was the soup’s? 🤔
@@junkyard_D lol. Sadly this was before Stone Soup arrived. I got another collection starting. Will be interesting if I can match it this fall. 😅
