    For the front filter I use a small piece of 1”x 1.5 ‘ PVC pipe. Slide it between tie rod and track bar till it’s over the drain tube. It’s stays put and no mess. Works every time.

    I got a quote from my dealer yesterday. They want to charge me $450 for a fuel filter change in my 2022 RAM 3500 CTD H.O. It's another $200 if I add an oil change. I asked them what they charge for the filters alone. They said, $200. Total ripoff. I already changed the oil myself at 5,000 miles (currently have 12k miles on the rig). I'm going to be doing all the maintenance myself. Also, swapping out the air and cabin filters. Thanks for all the great videos... Super helpful!

    I do 15k intervals with Mopar bought off Amazon. After a few times you learn tricks like where the drips are so you know where to put pans and such. Sometimes that front one binds and scares me that I’m going to break it but I’ve done it several times and so far so good. Thanks for the video!

      JB Reviews first fleetguard has to types of filters that can be put on in the front one has nanonet filter media which filters to 3 microns then one with out that only filters to 5 microns. So you know the only one mopar uses is the one with nanonet media. So if you use the fleetguard with out nanonet media and you end up with pump or injector issues mopar will void your warranty.

    This is one reason why I’m glad I don’t have my old Cummins anymore 😅Hey jb, you should look into S&B’s cold air intake system. They just came out with them for the 19-20’s. I just put one on mine and the throttle response difference in the hemi is much better, and the sound is great. They said to me through email it gains about 22hp. I don’t know about all that but there is definitely a power increase. More air = more power. Its also better quality than the K&N’s I ran in my old trucks. They also have a version for the Cummins and it supposed has the same boost. And you will be able to hear the turbo better, if your into that. Thought you might want to checking it out 👍

    • @JB_WhoWork
      @JB_WhoWork  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea the Cummins requires more TLC than the HEMI for sure! I just checked it out and I like the fact that it retains all the factory parts and it’s enclosed! I’m typically not a huge fan of intakes because I tuned 2 previous cars and lost power from them 😵... how long have you had yours?

    • @toofastnobrakes
      @toofastnobrakes 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      JB Reviews about a week. I’ve had cold air intakes on my last two trucks. And at least for the 6.4 hemi it really improves drivability and responsiveness when you let it breath. My 2016 had a k&n cold air intake which had the same effect. But was completely open. I love that this is “optionally” sealed and integrates into the grill air intake for even more air. I don’t know for sure if it adds a full 22hp bump but I could believe it. It feels and sounds better. And it’s the same with any motor. As long as your allowing more, and cold air it will provide more power. Not sure what vehicles you used it on before but it works best with larger displacement motors that need more air. That and the intake may have not been as free flow as the stock.

    Careful fleetguard as two different filters that fit in the front one has a lower micron efficiency that matches the mopar made by fleetguard then the other fleetguard filter has a higher micron rating allowing more contaminants through. So know what your getting from fleetguard.

      Baldwin makes good filters as well. No issues with 18 ram. Ram is releasing alternatives with dealerships due to cost of overpriced mopar.

  • @walterk1221
    @walterk1221 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    To clarify: (non counterfeit) Mopar filters are, in fact, manufactured by Fleetguard (now called Cummins Filtration). The Mopar labeled oil filter is what I choose to avoid as it does not appear to be identical to the Cummins Filtration LF16035 Stratapore-media filter. The Mopar oil filter appears to be identical to the LF3972 cellulose-media filter. I have reservations about cellulose-media filter and 15000mile change interval. I have no reservations about the 15000mile fuel filter change interval. For what it is worth, I have over 30 years experience as an owner of the Cummins powered Dodge trucks.

    Amazon has good deals on MOPAR filters. Those filters look the same at 13K when I’ve done mine. And I do my fuel and CCP filter myself. Dealer does the oil for a little more than I can, plus he disposed of the oil. I try to change by the dash indicator, but sometimes it goes longer. JB, I love your videos, but those 10K filters are not dirty at all, my man. On the flip side, keeping everything clean while changing them is paramount. I don't go to the dealer, but to my neighborhood mechanic to have these done every 15K, like RAM recommends. I have my oil changed at the same time, every 15K miles. The truck's system when reset looks for changing both fuel filters and engine oil at 15K intervals. This makes it so easy, have them both done at the same time, no worries. Diesel fuel is so clean these days that you could probably go 30K on the filter changes. I am now at 97K miles on my 2017 RAM 3500 Limited SRW Mega 4x4 Cummins/Aisin. My truck still runs perfectly. Again, I leave the fuel filter changes to guys who do it for a living. I don't need to get my hands involved and risk getting any contaminants in there. Best to you my friend.

    On my 2019, I change my rear every oil change which I do every 10k miles. I do my front every 15k as per the trucks fuel filter monitor. I decided on these intervals based on the rear getting really dirty after 10k and front looking newish at 15k. Unfortunately the last rear filter change I did, I found a ton of sand and rusty looking flecks inside the housing and on the filter itself. I am slightly concerned that my tank is dirty now and I may need to drop it & clean it. What do you think? I always buy brand name fuel from busy stations. Apparently I got dirty fuel at least once.

      @@panthermartin7784 I disagree with you. I buy a lot of fuel for my tractors in 5 gallon jugs so I get to see what is in the fuel. I seldom see anything visible left in the jugs. I buy at several stations and the fuel seems very clean to me. Stations have point of sale filters to get any contaminants out before it gets to your rig. Been running Rams (and VW's) and diesel John Deere tractors since 1993 and I have never had dirty fuel cause any issue in my rigs. I did buy fuel at a Sinclair station in Billings MT one time on a very cold December day and it immediately gelled up and plugged my entire fuel delivery system on my VW. That was a total mess, but that is the only time I've had an issue with bad fuel. In that case it wasn't dirty fuel but the fuel clearly wasn't properly winterized even though the pump said it was. The station denied any responsibility for it. I have never bought Sinclair diesel since that day.

  • @bighorn9119
    @bighorn9119 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    you're not supposed to change the amount of 10,000 miles to train your supposed to change them at every 15000 Miles because when you change them that early at 10,000 you're wasting more money so and even in the owner manual that says 15000 miles my dad has a 2018 2500 Cummins and we change it every 15000 miles and for oil changes we do not run 5000 miles we run it at 3,000 miles and that's how he does his oil changes

    • @miller6698
      @miller6698 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you really change the oil every 3000 miles you are really wasting money. Cummins recommend is 15,000 miles.

  • @miller6698

    Diesel is not like gasoline, it won’t “catch fire”
    Filters get dirty that is their job, to change any earlier than recommended is ludicrous.

    I’m not a mechanic… but I will not take my truck to the “stealership”! Long wait times, way over priced, shitty attitudes, lies, and sometimes poor quality work, or even no quality work!
    It shouldn’t be this way, but sorry to say… it is! Get some tools, put on some music, and get a little dirty! Save hundreds of dollars per service, and have the satisfaction of a job well done. If the “stealership” says it won’t honor the warranty if you do your own service just tell them if the engine goes south you’ll drive the vehicle through the glass doors on their showroom floor, and then ask if their warranty covers that!
    You can do it!
