  • This week I share another great pollinator powerhouse plant, mountain mint, that works well in rain gardens, bioswales, and full to part sun plantings with various soil types. I discuss our two most common mountain mint species here in Michigan, common mountain mint (Pycnanthemum virginianum) and slender mountain mint (P. tenuifolium). These species offer a month or more of pollinator supporting blooms during the summer!

Last fall I put in a Pycnanthemum muticum and am currently enjoying watching the honey bees, bumble bees, thread waisted wasps, black wasps, flies (didn't know they were such good pollinators) and others go to town... Very cool plant. I live in an apartment so I snuck it in there and I am putting in a Agastache 'Blue Fortune' Hummingbird Mint this fall. Nice channel, subscribed 🙂

Correct spelling and pronunciation pycnanthemum, not pink nanethemum.
