I guess the publisher wants to attract new readers who might not care about Percy in particular. When SoN first dropped, it made sense to have him on the cover - fans started out with him and wanted to know what happened. Now...

I hate having the protagonist on the front it takes away from one of my favorite parts of reading books and that’s being able to imagine the characters and what they look like

@@oscarolivera1337 Yeah I agree this is fine. The Harry Potter ones were fine too I didn't mind that the characters were illustrated. When they're illustrated in a cartoon way that's okay because I imagine them as real people so they don't ruin the experience of my imagination. But when there's photographs of people... omg i hate that so much.
When I was reading the Famous Five series this was the case. The publication I borrowed from the library had REAL FACES which honestly spoiled the joy of imagining the faces when I got the illustrated version.

The OG British covers of Harry Potter are by far superior to all other Harry Potter versions.

I think what they were trying to go for was a more modern, rebel feel for the covers. Unfortunately, they weren't able to pull off the execution and we're kind of left with a mess of color.

Two: That's not the Original Cover for Artemis Fowl, my dude. The original resembled a book with a gold cover, which happens to be the central MacGuffin of the novel.

That cover change helped me sell the book to several friends. That first cover had a bit of a tawdry romance feel with the shirtless guy, while the newer ones feel more like the actual story.
Only now realized that half of my mortal instruments books are old style and half are new style.

Also, the original original Artemis Fowl covers looked like a metallic journal, and I think I still prefer those (because we appreciate intricate and beautiful journals in this house). The newer ones look more like a James Bond comic.

You got the original cover for Artemis Fowl wrong. The first book was golden with Gnommish on the cover. You should definitely read them though.
The spines of the new Percy Jackson covers make an image too. I love the OG but I also love the thought that was put into the new ones.
Yeah the originals are lovely, but somehow the new ones kept a similar feel and are pretty spectacular in their own way

The original Harry Potter covers will always be my favorite. Not that the new ones aren’t cool or anything, the originals will always be special to me personally. (I’m actually related to the illustrator, Mary Grandpré who created the original book covers for Harry Potter)

Artemis Fowl wasn’t really my thing, but I do see why people would like it, it seems quite well written and I like the descriptions of the scenery in the opening chapters of many of the books. Something like Skulduggery Pleasant would be more my thing, if we were to stick to the basic genre of fantasy mystery fiction.

I had the black and white ones and i think they're beautiful, but whenever i hold it for hours specially when my palms sometimes it gets easily sweat and the edges of the covers gets ripped because it's just paperback, and I'm planning to buy the hardcover because I'm kind of regret buying the first one because i didn't expect the covers to be that sensitive.
I'm collecting the anniversary ones, the hardbacks will be my complete set :P

They are really nice! However, I reckon that the vibe they give me is the one of maybe a Jane Austen book or sth of the sort. I still consider that no Lux cover has really expressed what the book contains

I have the original covers and that certainly wasn’t it shown in the video. It was sparkly gold designed like an old locked book. They changed style for the covers before they got the the end. At least once, maybe twice. My 4th book does not match 1-3 or 4-7.
It has had several style changes over the years. Some I liked, some not so much but not enough to get duplicate copies.

Their interactions, banter, and growth through the story have had me laughing out loud and crying and everything in between. Such a fun series- I would highly recommend it to anyone!

I totally agree. The original three Shatter Me covers were absolutely gorgeous. Probably some of my favorites covers ever but the final three are kinda disappointing. Not as bad as a random face slapped on a cover but it doesnt live up to the original.
For fhe final three, I think I my favorite covers were the novellas especially Shadow Me.

The Harry Potter book cover that’s my favourite by far is by Webb and Webb designs- it’s very different from all the other ones and I hardly ever see it but it’s the edition I picked up when I first started reading the books and I just like the style of illustrations so much
Okay, Artemis Fowl is one of my favorite series ever, so I have to alert you to the fact (assuming no one else has) that the cover you posted as "original" is NOT the original covers! It is a redo, and I personally prefer the first edition ones. They're beautiful.
I came here to say this! I still have my original Gold-Silver-Blue Shinies from back when it was only going to be a trilogy. I might be dating myself but I remember waiting for the second and third books to come out 😅
