In this video I teach you how to make a needle book/organizer using cork fabric! It's a great fun & functional little project for you to try your hand at using cork fabric. It's called vegan leather and is stain resistant and water repellant. It's harvested from a tree in Portugal and is an amazing textile to work with. It doesn't fray and is easy to cut and sew with. I hope you'll give it a try!

We spent some time in Portugal last summer and fell in love with the cork !! It is an oak tree whose acorns feed a very special pig which, when harvested, produce a superior ham. ..The cork which is the bark, is sustainably harvested (by law) and renews itself naturally. It is a beautifully integrated system which produces the vegan leather and the delicacy of the jamon Iberico. Olive trees also are grown in this dynamic permaculture system to produce some of the finest olive oil in the world. Thank you for your tutorials....you make sewing so approachable....quilting has my heart right now but quality, utilitarian aprons are my next passion.

I work with handbags and accessories everyday. I only use cork but cork does fray! In time not at first but it does, I highly recommend in my classes I teach to use a gloss paint for leather on the sides, it can match the color of cork or use a clear coat. This protects this from fraying in the future.
Great video........can't wait to make one for me and my friends.

This was a very informative video. I have made needle cases but with needlepoint cover. I did read though that if you use flannel, it has to be cotton flannel and if you use felt, it has to be real wool felt in order for your needles to stay sharp.

Curious why you said 100% wool felt sheets for the signatures in the case? Is this to reduce the risk of rust?
