Good list - good humor. Well done! Even as a dedicated IB guy, I now wanna try some of these... Did have the Strathearn, and thought it's actually worth the bucks!
Nice list. I had kingsbarns finished in peated cask. It was a little weird one, cause it seemed like it was 2 separate whiskeys in the bottle. But I would love to try new kingsbarns. Also can't wait to open my 1st Torbhaig cask strength
The y2k is stunning. For ardbeg being known as a whisky that doesn’t age well (look at their 25yr) this is aged amazingly and if u ever get the chance to try the odacy definitely do
Being on a whisky journey is a bit like playing whack a mole. As soon as I knock some off my wish list there are others to take their place. I have recently had my first Talisker (Surge), the GlenAllachie 10 CS, and Meikle Toir (Original and Sherry). Agree with you on the Kingsbarns Coaltown, that is one I want to try. Might be a while before it gets down to NZ though. I recently bought the Doocot and Bell Rock. Others I would like to try are the new Ardnahoe and the Lagg Corriecravie. And that is just Scotch whisky, there are other NZ, Australian, and Indian whiskies that are on my wish list. Cheers!
Definitely want to try a Kingsbarn. And a Longmorn 16 has been on my to get list for awhile, sure a CS 18 would be better. Got an old bottle of Laphroiag 18 paid less then 100usd for back in the day, those were the days
I have had a couple of these beauties! The Laphroaig 18 is fabulous! I'd love to try the Ardbeg 23 but it's ridiculously expensive! Grab the Laphroaig 18 when you can. We found a few!! I also prefer Power's to Red Breast! This is lovely! We brought some back after a family trip to Ireland and family has brought us some while visiting YVR!! Love the Ledaig Triple Wood!!🙂
Wow you've tried a lot of these! Glad to hear you enjoyed the Laphroaig. I've heard mixed things but I'm still really excited to try it. Cheers Christine thanks for sharing your thoughts! 🥃
Absolutely here for health and life advice!(😅) Definitely interested in the Powers 12 CS. That's devastating though about it being an Ireland exclusive 😢 Looking forward to that Longmorn 18CS Review Geoff! Great list and video my friend! Cheers 🥃🥃
This summer I’ve been dabbling in bourbon. The #1 bottle I want to try is the Russel’s Reserve 15. All the bourbon guys are proclaiming it the bottle of the year, so I don’t want to miss out. Problem is, I haven’t seen it anywhere for under $500.
Love this video series, its helped me stay on top of new releases and given me a couple to hunt. I recently picked up the port Charlotte 18, very excited to try it but need a good reason to open it up. Otherwise my next purchase is probably gonna be the Laphroaig cairdeas. The 2023 is still plenty available by me and I haven't pulled the trigger on it yet. The 2024 looks great with a 10 year age statement and a px sherry finish although I haven't seen that one on the shelves here in the states yet
I tried the old 18 and it was just ok so yeah it probably won't be worth the price. I'm with you on number 5, 4, definitely 2 and 1. Damn that mystery pour! Looking forward to your review! Cheers Geoff 🥃
God I want a Port Charlotte 18. While I pine after that I will keep exploring ardnamurchan releases, got the sherry cask and recent cask strength and they are both awesome, and thankfully readily available in Sweden. Cheers!
Yeah the PC18 is very high on the wishlist as well. That was mentioned in a previous video. One of my most anticipated releases this year. Sadly nowhere to be found in my market. As for Ardnamurchan, couldn't agree more. Top-tier stuff. Cheers! 🥃
I can't help laughing when I hear about Strathearn's 'inaugural' release: I've had a bottle of Batch 001 since July 2021 and I know of at least three more releases between that and the one you featured! Things I've picked up recently that are waiting to get to the top of my 'tasting backlog' are: Ardnahoe Inaugural Release 5 year old, Laphroaig Càirdeas 2024 Cask Favourites 10 year old, Bonnington Inaugural Release, Wolfburn Kylver Series 0013 ("Y" rune - Ihwaz), Clydeside Napier 6 year old, Ballindalloch 2015 Single Cask No. 114 8 year old and Dornoch (Thompson Bros.) Cask 144 (and that's not counting samples - I'll be tasting two new Compass Box releases tomorrow...). Good luck with your hunting!
Great video with some interesting choices there Geoff. I'd love to get my hands on that Ledaig Triple wood. It looks like a clonker. Its around £90 in the UK so I'll have to start saving the pennies! Shane (Whisky Lock) recently compared the new Laphroaig 18 with an old 18 he has (bought around 10 years ago I think) and apparently the new release isnt a patch on the old release. (Still nice tho!)
Yeah I saw Shane's video. Great side-by-side breakdown. I'd have referenced it here had this video hadn't already been shot. To be honest, the old 18s set the bar pretty high, so I wasn't entirely surprised by the results. 🥃
love your humour! I would think the distilleries would send you free samples of these … maybe your chances would be better though if you left out the “poison” jab 😊
How about a list of whiskies (discontinued?) that you have purchased at auction in the past. Or bottles you plan on buying in the future since you missed out. Also , if you don’t mind. What’s a roundabout figure of total bottles you buy a year. I myself averaged @10-12 in years past. This year so far only 5.
You raised an tricky challenge here: how much and often can you drink in Ireland with a girlfriend doubling as a chauffeur. This may require a ring it a very expensive vacation.
Yeah I think it does help somewhat. Hard to guage precisely how effective it is but I'll keep on taking it because I do think it makes a minor difference. Thanks! 🥃
@@Gwhisky I splurged and got a bottle of the Bunnahaghain 14yr Port finish and am not a huge fan. For me it has an ... odd... flavour that I'm struggling to appreciate. Perhaps time will change my opinion, but the experience has turned me off and I'm not keen on exploring that particular flavour profile any further. Have you sampled any that stand out?
Laphroaig 18 was one of the most disappointing whiskies I've ever had. The quarter cask was just as good. As for a trip to Ireland, I heard there are one or two things to do besides going to the pub.... Didn't believe them.
Ah sorry to hear that. Whisky Lock recently did a video where he liked the new 18, but said it couldn't compare to the old version. Still something I'd like to try, but I'm not going to set my expectations too high. Cheers! 🥃
Thanks for yet another interesting life expectancy warning, Geoff. Some like to and some likely to try and for me ... some neither and one I've tried: the Strathearn (sample) and it was interesting, but (for me) not worth the price (yep, I'm Dutch) And for the record, your No1 = my No1. Slàinte mhath
I know I am here for the health advice.
Those are Geoff’s male enhancement pills. Actually, they’re liver pickling pills, which enhance our masculinity and are complementary to the scotch 😂
The liver is evil… it must be punished

Have you tried the regular 18 that was around prior to the cask strength release? It's also fantastic! 🥃
@@Gwhisky unfortunately not as it’s not released in the US🤷♂️
@@justwhisky Ah what a shame...
Im like you and prefer John’s Lane over most Redbreast. I have tried the John’s Lane CS and it really good.

NAC helps take the edge off after a night out of drinking. Helps your liver neutralise the formaldehyde 😂

Lol wouldn't be above it. I'd take the job and the money. Then I'd likely ruin it with some snide joke and never get sponsored again. 😉
